Just now a it had an ifrit ex party in the doody finder. (We won). But that's not the point. We had a horrible blm, and was committed to being horrible, running eruptions into the healers, running into searing winds, dying to swipes. Yeah he was bad. Half way through our 60 minutes a fight broke out between him and another dps. He then proceeds to spam "aids" in the party chat. Finally he told the other dps to "go fight magic Johnson in a thorn bush".
When I realized what it actually meant I felt bad.
Question
why do DPS not switch to the bees in quarn
there have been adds that need to die in most other instances up to that one, it should be a skill you've acquired by that point.
I think you can guess what my story for today is.
Don't try to do Thornmarch EX through Duty Finder. I have no more words to type because my life has been sucked out.
I came into this thread expecting it to be full of positive stories and thanks to community members... :)
Um... mine...
I did a Guildhest on roulette the other day for some WHM experience, you know, the turtle one.
The tank wailed on the turtle, myself and the dps blasted the adds. The tank didn't take enough damage to warrant a cure. He took the turtle to the herbs, one of the dps lit it up and the 'hest was over. It had taken a couple of minutes I guess. No-one said a thing.
So yeah, not a particularly interesting story there, but I bet most of you can relate. No-one was an asshole! :D
Original Garuda main story fight.....25 attempts....all through DF. I've never before or since hated it more than I did those 2 days.
On a positive note: other than that one time, and maybe the odd time when I first started with someone calling me a noob or something, my experience with DF hasn't been that bad. I'd say 75%-85% of the time I get a really solid party. Maybe not the most TALKATIVE party, but generally effective. I've had more good times in DF and have even made some good friends from it.
Not one to complain, however.... Just did expert roulette. Had a tank who obviously had no idea how to tank. If a mob de-aggro'd him from my healing(which I honestly tried to avoid doing unless necessary because every other cure pulled aggro) he would leave it on me and run onto the next mob and die while the two DPS and I tried to take the ones on me down. He would run ahead while I was buffing after our numerous wipes and die. To leave a long story short it was terrible. I would have left if the two DPS in the group weren't range(I know how long ques can be). On the bright side the DPS made it somewhat humorous to the point I could stand the lack of tanking. So thank you DPS, and tank please... Just don't tank anymore :(.
Side note: we did try offering advice and using translator. He was obviously just ignoring us. Not sure how you get to be full Ilvl 100 gear without knowing your role...
MY DF runs are normally so insanely dull and quiet....had a weird one last night while running Copperbell (low level) for my book:
Instance starts-
Me (healer): Howdy :3
Tank: disgusting xeno freak
Tank: don't talk to me
Me: eh?
*few minutes pass*
Me: tank wants to die I guess
Tank: thre's a group finder full of more of you in that case
Me: so what crawled up your ass this evening
Tank: your mom's tongue
Me: oh yay. forgot school's out for summer
Me: Bloody moron
Tank: so is your mom's summer classes
I guess he took issue with my glamours. lawl. http://i.imgur.com/ZiUrK5g.png
Anyway, I then proceeded to let him die, and we booted him shortly after. I realize that I'm not going to come off as a saint here, but I don't feel bad at all. I am normally one of those people that will never let anyone die. Even if they're being completely rude, stupid, annoying - name anything, and I'll keep them alive. Guess he caught me at a bad time. :X
Was doing Ifrit HM yesterday using DF and there was a summoner with a really bad gear he tried to avoid all Ifrit's attacks without success to be honest I raised him on that fight like 7 or 8 times at the end of the fight he said please "dont rez me anymore thanks I am better as a rug" I dont know why but I felt bad I guess he felt useless since I have to rez him so many times, we managed to finish the trial and I gave him a recommendation. If you are reading this summoner, no worries and take care.
*Tanking Titan EX (I love love solo queuing Titan EX, it's too lolzy not to do it)
Other tank is currently tanking Titan, we get the top bomb pattern. You know, the one where all of the bombs are on Titan's half of the field and the other half of the circle is bomb free? Yeah, that one.
Everyone proceeds to run to the safe spot including the other tank, dragging TITAN ALONG WITH
HIM
Literally dragged Titan from 12 o clock, to 5 o clock, while everyone was standing at 6. Apparently the thought of eating 1 bomb as a tank scared him witless.
I forgot to post this.
I was doing King Moongle EX a while ago and had a blessed group. I did mess it up once extremely bad where I wasted the LB because I thought its adds were dead (phaze 3 last part) but thankfully we finished him up the next turn. Was pretty late as well after a long day of fails.
Tried to do Titan EX with Duty Finder but yeah it didn't go well at all. Usually we weren't able to reach phaze 2.
Oh and yesterday I did a main roulette and half the group was getting wiped at some point. One of the most hilarious experiences. Hard to explain or describe but it was one of those that you should have been there.
Trial roulette. Titan two days in a row. Both times I'm MT and say, let's one-shot this. First time, no real worries or excitement. Did last 15% in Sword Oath as two DPS kept dying.
Second one though, new WHM with 2.8k health and new tank. Everyone else overgeared. Two minutes into it, one DPS bails as two others died. Manage to get through heart phase with some raises. Then all hell breaks lose. At one point it's me, the SCH and DPS only. Through everything though, manages to get everyone raised and we beat it. Again, one-shot. Was just fun that everyone but the one DPS stuck it out.
I'm going to write a book about a Duty Finder group that was not only skilled, but friendly and talkative the entire dungeon run; where everyone complimented each other and made sure loot drops were distributed fairly. I'll call it "The Land of Fantasy." Sure to be a best seller by next summer.
This one time, I used duty finder, and the one player was terrible. As in a terrible player and a terrible person.
Queued for Copperbell NM; got a lancer, gladiator and conjurer with me as arcanist. GLD runs and pulls first mobs while me and the LNC are poking the CNJ as he's AFK. We then run to save the GLD and he immediately takes off again. We kick the healer, then get the same guy back. Get to first boss room with tank only auto attacking the whole way, meaning I'm physicking my little heart out while the LNC tanks the mobs. Realise tank and healer are bots on follow. Kick healer, get same guy for the thrid time and now we're really screwed with no more kicks. So, I et Topaz Carby out, physick him and the LNC while DoTing and we finish with 5 mins to spare.
Little Lala lancer, you were amazing.
The instance that actually worth talking about. Doing Titan in story mode for the first time. Not sure if the healer was also new to it , but the 2 DPS had obviously been there before as they out geared and out ranked us. Though it seemed like no one knew what they were doing. The healer kept running off the cliff, the 2 DPS would keep dying. After a little conversation with the healer about the fact that there is no safe zone around the cliff, he stopped running off it.
I thought it would have went better, but we kept wiping. For some reason the DPS kept dying. There was only about 5 minutes left and we finally wore Titan down to the point where the ground starts to ripple. Both DPS die. "I'M NOT WIPING AGAIN, HEALER KEEP ME ALIVE", I typed to him. We proceeded to finish him off just me and the healer while the 2 DPS just watched. With 20 seconds left I finally killed him. My one hero story.
My favs are the ones where someone says there new, has seen a guide but still needs to get into the swing of it. Everyone ignores them and starts the fight.
They do fairly well but get taken down by a silly mistake, the rest of the group, being so experienced and in the know still wipes and then commences raining the hate at said new person. Dismissal ensues, and although I vote no, the new person is gone and I am now stuck with 4 or 5 inpatient dicks who drop out one by one until a vote abandon is cast and I have to start all over again. Every freaking time.
Garuda ex, I hate you...
I met someone really nice from our server doing the duty finder. Turn 1 was a lot of fun because he was silly and kind of a dork. Afterwards, we found out he was on our server, so we invited him to our FC.
Here's what I've observed in DF: Every time someone says "we got this", it ain't happening.
Watched my sister do a CT run with a sch (she is also a main SCH) who did NOT use his pet, at first she thought "Maybe he forgot his pet, happens to the best of us sometimes."
We get to atomos she places her pet in the middle, so it can heal everyone without her getting off the platform, nothing special. the pet is mainly doing the curing since no one is taking huge chunks of damage, the other sch occasionally cures to top people off what her eos was already doing, 2 minutes later says and i quote "why am i the only one curing?" to which she replied "you aren't, so don't try that" after the fight is done she then decides to comment on why he has no pet out he says....... "because i don't need one" after that it was just questioning why he is playing sch and the fact since my sister was doing most of the curing he would think he doesn't need his pet givin that she was picking up his slack.
I my self have no real game breaking stories to tell as nothing worth noting comes to mind.
You know... every time I declare that the Duty Finder cannot get any more entertaining, it absolutely does.
Earlier today I did a Duty Finder on my BLM for Tam Tara (Hard)... and came across a tank and Archer who were trying to tell me how to play my job. Here's the kicker that would tickle you silly: The tank has only played THM up to lvl 10 and the archer hasn't even UNLOCKED the THM/BLM job. And yet, these two clowns were yapping off... lets just say I had fun taking screenshots and getting a ps4 video recording of the conversation.
Thank God for the character search on the FFXIV Lodestone, ehhh?
I would like to thank those 7 guys and gals that beat garuda ex with me for my first time this evening. After what I said above, its nice to know there are like minded players out there. A few were new but everyone gave tips to the others, when someone accidentally killed the plume with a LB aimed at the sisters and garuda when she was 10% health, everyone lol'd, no one was kicked. We wiped 5 times and still everyone stayed. It was a first for me, I've done the fight countless times and its always ended in abandon as one or two won't stick it out or moan about DPS, poor healing or countless other excuses and jibes. I really wish we could add friends to group with across servers, because although it wasn't pretty, it was one of the best fights I've had
I am going to share two nice stories. The first was long ago, back when ARR was still relatively new, before we had vote kick so people were just incredibly rude and most people leeched because there was nothing anyone can do, I joined a CM for philo tomes as scholar. The other healer was a whm who was doing it for story. The tank was being really nasty to the whm, pressuring him to skip cutscenes, saying his gear was terrible, etc. The game had barely been out for a month at this point, but everyone else was staying silent. I started telling this tank if he didnt cut it out, I wasnt going to heal him, the whm was likely not going to heal him, I'd sit there and hold the group up if he didnt show a little respect. He stopped talking from then on, we got through the dungeon, then I realised the whm was on my server. I sent him a tell, saying not to let that behaviour get to him. We got chatting and he joined my ls. Nearly a year later, we're still good friends and he's my go-to healer partner for events
The other was CT1. Frankly we were doing terrible. Wipes and mistakes everywhere. But everyone was friendly and encouraging. Alliance chat was full of 'we'll get it this time! Dont worry guys' People would join and be like 'Wow an in progress group where people are being nice?!' Great fun run, I wish I looked up names to see who was on my server
Eorzean Horror Story: Brayflox Longstop NM.
A couple of days after resubbing, I decide to continue leveling my BRD. I queued for a dungeon and checked the Join In Progress box and I got Brayflox, which was already in progress. The group is at the first boss, apparently they had wiped at least 1 time, but there had been other issues, either way I didn't ask. As soon as I get to the boss gate, the Healer starts to tell the tank about enmity and what he's supposed to do. At this point I'm confused. How did a tank manage to get all the way up to Brayflox without knowing how to keep hate? Did every group he ran into decided to carry him? We start the fight and I notice that his enmity generation is very low, so I can't use any of my cooldowns. Many times his HP dropped way down but we managed to beat the boss. I check the tank and see that he's a Lv34 Marauder with 1350 HP, 100 HP more than me, full of dps and crafting accessories.
The healer starts to tell him about his abilities, what each one of them does and which ones to use, then the tank becomes unresponsive for about 4 minutes. Something new came up, he didn't know how to talk in party chat. We skip saving all the goblins and getting the loot for who knows what reasons, we just kill the trash needed to get to the second boss, which is not much a problem but like the first boss, I can't use any cooldowns as the tank seems to be having a lot of trouble holding aggro on more than one at a time. Things go average from that point up until we get to Aiatar. The healer explains the fight to the tank and we start. Enmity is a problem so I can't use any cooldowns, so the DPS is lower than expected and s soon as Aiatar uses his frontal AoE, the tank dies because he doesn't try to move out of it and with only 1350 HP plus no knowledge of his class, dies. Aiatar comes after me and I try to stay alive as long as possible and do a much better than the tank, but still die as soon as he starts spitting poison. I go to the Lodestone and check the Tank and notice that he doesn't have any other class leveled, so he doesn't have any cross class abilities and all of his points in STR. We try once again with the same result, except the Healer believing that Aiatar will commit suicide, because all he did was stand still and heal himself, wasting time.
I know we can't do this and there's only 25 minutes on the clock, so I vote abandon and it is rejected. I ask for the party to kick me out so I can queue for another dungeon.
Healer: If you want to leave, just leave and take the penalty.
Me: Or I can go AFK.
Healer: Or you can stop being a dick and do your job.
Me: I've been doing my job, which is DPS. I'm not supposed to Tank and DPS.
Then the tank says something, I'm not sure what because they were at Aiatar, ready to wipe once again and I was behind. Since he didn't know how to talk in party chat, everything he said was in say. The party refuses to kick me out, and I refuse to leave. Either way, the time in the clock is less than the penalty for leaving, so I just sit down. The tank then leaves and I'm free of my torment.
And kids, that's how I got my way, and there's a lesson in this story. You don't try to carry a tank through a dungeon. If at Lv34 he still doesn't know anything about his class, then everything he's been doing is pressing buttons without knowing what they do and haven't bothered to do any kind of research or even ask. You don't carry them, you don't tell them that they did a good job, you don't give them a commendation just because they decided to queue as a tank. You don't want these people on Lv50 duties. Help the people that want to learn, not the ones that don't care. And about that tank? Well, after that he stopped tanking and switched to Lancer.
FIN
Brayflox Longstop NM DF, just today. Our new tank is not really geared enough to hold aggro causing wipes and our BLM to quit at the last boss. So in came another geared Bard like I am but still the dragon will run after me or the other bard or healer no matter how we watched our enmity bars and use quelling strikes. Dragon walks over the green pool and heals while the tank really struggled but tries hard anyway. I'm sharing this because despite wiping, we were supportive to the apologetic tank, very patient, pooled strats and was even laughing while failing. Thanks to animus books for forcing me to revisit this dungeon (w/c I hate) because "having fun" there was unexpected and I'm used to going in newer dungeons say "hi" then everyone just goes to business not uttering a word until the end. Long story short, us bards decided to just go all out not caring about enmity and had fun triple tanking him(making sure we are not standing on green pools) until he died.
the amount of times I wiped at Brayflox NM because of a TankBOT.
ah, good memories.
it was so fun looking at him, running stright to the boss after every wipe, and locking him inside.
Had a Coil 2 group last night.. tank and healer were in a party together so tank followed healer. Doing enrage method because well.. easy. We have one drg and 3 blm.. healer goes down left path. Try to stop him, nope tank pulls and even with three of us sitting out they kill it. So the group keeps going that path and the sch all the while saying it doesn't matter, if paths matter you aren't playing right in T2 and all this jazz. We get to the ADS wait the timer and die .. gasp you mean gimping the dps was a bad idea?! So they proceed to blame the DD in being slow.. the Drg was hitting like a wet noodle but anyway.
All the while I'm on my whm an I normally run as Sch so im sort of working on keeping my cool as I calmly ask why he ran out of mana before I did.. long before I did. He replies with Succor being costly in mana.. while true.. I watched him spam it instead of timing .. I know why he ran out of mana but never the less he went on to calling me a tard and I laughed saying I normally roll as Sch but he can thinks what he wants. These two throughout the rest of the run (right path this time) insult near about the whole party. How bad they are and this and that. My husband is on his Blm and has been trying to tell them the path matters and stuff. So Sch thinks he's getting smart or something and parses the dps.
At the end we killed the ADS this time and the Sch shut up saying that the dps was good (in particular my husband's because he was watching just his dps...).
Now to my pet peeve.. Sch.. WHY YOU NO USE BUBBLE! *breaths* ok.. I'm ok.
Just got out of Sunken Temple of Qarn. Tank friend and I went in together to try and clear for my now-leveling new WHM character.
So we get by the ... second boss, I want to say? And I've noticed something about our DRG while healing over the last two bosses. At first I thought it my imagination, but I finally realised it wasn't
He wasn't using Full Thrust (The third skill in dragoon's basic rotation)
He wasn't using Phleb (Level 30 Lancer skill.)
He wasn't proccing Heavy Thrust (10% attack power bonus)
He wasn't using jumps or general self-buffs.
I finally ask him about it :
[8:06](A'rytiss Edar) Gexon. Is there a reason you don't maintain Phlebotomize, use Heavy Thrust from the flank, and don't do your three-skillchain to Full Thrust?
Keep in mind. I play dragoon. These are extremely basic things. And he's an i90 DRG in full Myth gear, with a Gae Bolg Zenith. He's i90 and has no real reason not to know this stuff at level 36...
Edit-in: It's also possible there's something I don't know about it. Pre-26, you can spam Impulse Drive and deal higher Potency per second than using skillchains because of the higher potency of the skill itself.
Some silence go by. I try to get his attention a few times. He basically ignores me. A friend states he's probably ignoring me - and he states, rather flatly,
(XXX) i can hear you and yes ignore you
(A'rytiss Edar) Why? It's pretty valid advice.
(XXX) its just like those online jerks
(A'rytiss Edar) I wasn't being a jerk about it
(A'rytiss Edar) I only asked.
(XXX) unrespect to me that im some new
Thankfully, we vote kicked him right at the final boss, got a dragoon who actually played his job (And was only level 35 like me) and cleared pretty easy after that. :D
yesterday I was doing my very first dungeon as a tank (Tam Tara)
I queued with my boyfriend(WHM), and a friend who recently started playing (ACN)
whe enter the duty finder, and begin the dungeon
I was so scared to screw up with the tank, but it went well, I rarely lost aggro, so I count it as a win, even with my boyfriend's almost inexistent sense of humor, who thought using Fluid Aura at random was fun.
at some point, at the second "miniboss", whe kill the priest and the devils, and the demon appear.
I tank it, BUT SUDDENLY. that little shit called carbuncle, uses his Knockback, and in sync my boyfriend uses Fluid Aura.
it was so awesome to see the demon thrown around like a flipper ball, but as the same time infuriating because I had to run in 2 different positions to get him back to me.
most epic Tam-tara NM ever.
DF high level roulette three days ago. Walk in with a fully decked, i95-ish DPS team (BRD and DRG) Healer bails, I'm the tank. We wait about two minutes. Nothing. I ask if they're up to get going and they agreed. So, I protect and stone skin everyone and we go. And go. And go. And keep going. Closest I got to dying was about 250HP, even through all the bosses. Until the last boss. We wipe at about 25%. Thankfully, a WHM drops in. Fully decked i93 who has never done the dungeon before (even got the new person notice when dropped in).
Anyway, cleared it all but the final boss with no healer and had a blast. Hats off to Never Give Up, Never Surrender.
I have some fun stories of Syrcus Tower.
One particular story of note went thusly: The alliance declared that I be the MT for the run, which is my preference (but I always let someone else if they really want to). So we get to Glasya and one of the off-tanks was like "Could you hold up a sec? Gotta explain the fight to a newcomer!" And me, the MT and someone who tries hard to NOT be a dick, is all like "Sure thing! Signal us when you're ready to go!" 30 seconds later, a bard on my team decides to start attacking the boss. I eventually pull aggro from him, apologize to the other tank for the bard's impatience, and we clear the fight. We then get to the next dragon and the same bard starts complaining about how I'm not pulling immediately, and instead waiting for the ready check to finish.
Then we get to Amon. I decide to get back at the Bard by saying, in alliance, "Hey <insert Bard name here>! How about you MT for us? What do you other tanks say?" And they all agreed that it be so. So the Bard started, and died in about five seconds. I immediately hit provoke on his death and continued on the fight as normal, remarking with "Was that as good for you as it was for me?"
Halatali HM with a friend, I was playing as a BLM, my friend was the tank.
we get to the first boss, and the other 2 party members get oneshot by the first big AoE.
with only me and the tank still alive, we managed to kill it. from something like 56/60% HP to 0.
Good low level Copperbell Duty Roulette today. As a healer (WHM)
Went in. Started doing my usual - heal the tank where I can, do some DPS where I can. I like to use fluid aura, but I understand the difficulty it can cause. So I always aim it so the mob won't be moved by it (Pushing them into a wall) or so that the attack itself will kill the mob (At low-HP%) depending on what's available.
We got through... two pulls? Before the Tank drops this little gemstone:
(XXXXX) fluid aura agian, and i leave and ill just do this tomorrow
So me, being the sensible person I am:
(A'rytiss Edar) lol
*Runs up and fluid auras it this time so it actually pushes the mob away*
(A'rytiss Edar) Because **** you ^_^
And he left, ate his timer, and wasted a few minutes of his time. I proceed to get an instant-reque and got Ifrit Story. Cleared in sub-5 minutes. Seems I came out pretty well from this little trade.
Got into a Phase1 Coil5 group and we got wiped once. But then one left and everybody followed. God I hate that. Always when one leaves the rest follow. I will never understand this mentality.
