R50 Archers

Have anyone been using the new Ul'dahyan Long bow from the hall of flames yet? what are your thoughts of it vs a Crab bow+2 or +3?

Also I heard theres a R50 NM bow now too?!!?

Im not a 50 archer but all the 50 archers in my shell want the Ul'dahyan Long Bow over +2 Crab, not sure about the +3 crab though.

I dont know if i want to blow 4000seals on that thing.. i almost got it last night but meh.. what is this R50 NM bow i keep hearing about

They seem to have this new bow Thanos, http://www.ffxivpro.com/item/4070008/verdant-shortbow. It has lots of accuracy but it's not better than the U'ldahyan Longbow.

Verdant Shortbow is 50.

The Ul'dahn Longbow is the best bow in the game ATM. It has quite a bit more attack power than the Crab Bow.

oh man... accuracy vs damage..

I heard crab +2-3 was better than the uldah one. If not its pretty much that same. So not going to spend seals on it.

with the 15% BONUS the crab bow +3 is slightly better.

Well Etna has the crab Bow + 2 and he says the Uldah one is better, not sure about the +3 one though.

I tend to look for accuracy gear more than anything when I play my Archer... cant do much damage if im always missing right? rather be somewhat consistant..

Has anyone used the Verdant yet or is it not obtainable?

Crab+3 is still tops.

Hm just not sure its worth all the seals. But then again I might join Grid for my final company so maybe I can blow em in Uldah. /shrug

Crab +3 is currently better at the moment, but people have to understand that Accuracy & Attack trump all other stats currently. Once you see some stat balancing, and can really notice what you get out of the +3 DEX from Verdant, it may become the better bow. Especially if DEX ends up affecting Critical Hit Rating by a decent margin.

Also, incoming: Materia. So this as well as stat balancing could change what we consider better right now.

if you got STR get bow with accuracy+ if you have more dex get bow with attack+

Thats what i was thinking too... blow my uldah seals on the bow and join grid and limsa company and get seals to get their stuff too..

Yes jack i savvy hence i want the accuracy bow.. where do i get it!?

if its not a significant difference, I personally would wait and see what SE adds in the future.

Waited long enough.. cant wait any longer.. must have new bow

now if anyone can shed some light on the verdant bow and where to get it please enlighten me..

yeah issue with the uldah bow is even though its new it doesn't look like it :( Also im pretty sure the new bow drops off the final boss in the Darkhold

OH! then ill have it soon enough =) getting through darkhold is cake

As much as i want to rush to get that bow (lvling arc as 2ndary) im afraid of what they might add in later (better things). On top of that, the 4000pts werent exactly a breeze to obtain so im also concerned if i spend 4k pts, how easy/hard will it be to obtain more points in the future? (assuming they add more quests)

ya im just gonna wait for the NM bow.. ive only been using free gear even with my R50 jobs.. havent really bought much outside of a sceptor +1 and a crab bow

R35 NM gear all the way from 1-50 =)

so many i will wiat for this bow ill wait for that bow, just get the bow now and when the new one comes get the new one, dont be lazy

actually you know what ill just wait for the R75 bow

I had that train of thought too with my seals. I have multiple jobs with 30-60k seals each and I've been saving them waiting, waiting, waiting. Well I'm throwing caution to the wind, and last night I got the Ul'dah Bow. It is clearly better than the +1 crab, which is what I was using, but still not better than the +2 or +3.

Wow I'm lost. Can anyone explain to me what +1/+2/+3 do exactly? I always thought + items just had more durability.

+5/10/15% to the stats with Stars next to them. In this case Atk Acc Crit.

Look for the stats with the stars next to them. Only those stats are 5/10/15% increased and nothing else.

OMG I can't believe I never knew that until now. Thanks guys! Now I know why the +3 are so much more expensive.

The shortbow must have a pretty good delay on it vs. the Uldahn longbow, which might be more worth it in the long run. Anyone have both and done any testing?

It looks better than the crab (graphics wise) and definatly better than my Crab +1 stat wise.

Just my main jobs yes. 60k on my PGL and 35k on my ARC, was kinda waiting to see if they have guild marks somehow necessary to obtain or upgrade class/job specific gear.

The last thing I want to do is blow through my stored up marks, only to have to go out and waste time on regional leves to collect them again.

Seals != Guild marks bro, you can only obtain a certain amount of seals at the moment

Well I have over 30k in arc, lnc, and miner. But definately not all jobs.

haha guildmark and seals are two different things. You can only get 4000 seals or so now from all three grand compainies. Guildmarks are useless to most of the population now and everyone has like 40-80k

what are u doing with so much guild marks? havent bought anything attributes?

Note on the Verdant Bow. It and the Sword are obtained through the still unobtained 5th chest from Batraal. Those are the only two items that no one has yet to find and no one has figured out how to get Batraals fifth chest. It's a short bow so it will have a faster rate of fire. All of its base stats are higher than a base crab bow plus the bonuses. With +18 more acc than the crab bow you can throw away your acc rings and go all str or att bonus and along with rate of fire should trump the other bows.
