Leveling, best ways for it?

To just clarify, the last time I leveled, it was back in 2.0. So FATEs were kings back then. And although they were a zerg and needed to be toned down slightly, now, the zones are completely barren.

For example, Costa Del Sol used to be huge. Now, nothing. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places though?

I'm leveling a PUG since returning to the game and it has been okay so far, but I've noticed the best way to get exp is via the Duty Roulette. This is all great and so on. I do enjoy dungeons.

Problem is, I'm 33 now, and I'm still only getting Tam Tara or bloody Copperbell Mines. Surely I should be getting others by now? I mean, it does say levels 16-47. And to top that off, even with my 50% extra bonus, it's still incredibly low. I get roughly... 20k exp, I think? For a dungeon run? That's 2 leves, if I am not incorrect.

Am I doing something wrong? What is the best way to level?

Dungeons dungeons and more dungeons, have you gone through the story? most dungeons are unlocked through those, and the rest from quests in Vesper Bay. Do one roulette for daily rewards, then run the highest level dungeon you can, you should get at least half a level per run.

The duty roulette low level it's the best choice for quick exp, not for the exp you get inside the dungeon, but for the massive bonus exp at the end of it.

I don't exactly remember how many xp, based on your current level, but I remember doing it with my WHM at around 40-ish, and at the endo of the dungeon, whatever dungeon it was, I always gotlike 100k exp point.

same thing goes for the DR of the guildhests, even if the amount of exp it's less, but it's still a fair amount of it (around 30k if I remember correctly)

apart from those 2, Hunting Log, 1 or 2 run of the highest dungeon you can do, in a day, and you get to LV 50 really fast.
even fates can be a good choice, with all the people farmin atmas everywhere, you get exp, and you get it fast because fates usually last 1-2 minutes, lol

I've 2 level 50's already, so I've unlocked all of them up to what was relevant in 2.0.

100k per duty roulette? That's remarkable. My Duty Roulette completion is giving me 4k. Which is a pebble drop in the vast ocean that is 180k exp to level (I'm level 32). I only get good exp once per day with the duty roulette.

Done Hunting Logs and Challenge Logs. Though even completing the whole rank 4 of my hunters log doesn't give me 1 level.

Atma FATEs, huh. Where are those situated in? I'm guessing not in the old, big FATE areas anymore, since they are desolate. 'Ill have to try doing the high level dungeons for my level.

atma fates are the same fates you find everywhere.

basically, every fate you find (except for fates in cohertas and Mhor Dhora) has a chance to drop a piece of ATMA, that you can use to upgrade your Relic Weapon Zenith.

so, lots and lots of lv50 people farms these fates, it's strange you still find places without people trying to do these fates :/

Coerthas still has a decent FATE population thankfully.
Hit 46 on Dragoon and I'm probably still going to keep grinding FATEs there til 50 since Northern Thanalan et al. are completely dead.
Will repeat the process on all of my other sub-50 classes as needed. :-/

Did you read what I posted, run roulette once per day (the bonus exp is a daily reward) Then between the daily rewards run the highest level dungeon you can (not roulette) the closer you are to the required level the more exp you get, so in your case, run roulette, then run Brayflox easy mode, then run Qarn at 35, then Cutter's Cry.

Ah I see. It's odd, most areas I seem to walk through are just plain dead when it comes to FATEs. Costa Del Sol, for example, I've seen over 6 Cancer FATEs just fizzle out and end without anyone touching him. It's a shame, that's a lot of exp.

I'll just have to wait for Coerthas I'm guessing, when it comes to FATEs.

Don't forget to do the Guildhest roulette too! Most of them take about 5 minutes and give a ton of EXP.

It's how I leveled my ACN, and I got at least half a level per run, and when you get to DH you can even do first room speed runs and watch the exp fly up.

Like other said, dungeons is the way to go .. Do the low level roulette once a day for the bonus, which is level based. Once you've done the roulette, just sign up for 3 or 4 dungeons around your level instead of using the roulette, and you'll get plenty exp. At earlier levels you'll easily level just about every dungeon run, later on it takes a few runs per level.

Also, check the challenge log, which gives you some quick bonuses as well for things like completing x dungeons, completing x duty roulette dungeons, giving out x player commendations etc. To break the monotony, you could also do some leves in between, which also have a couple of challenge log entries for complete x unique leves and x total leves. While doing the leves you can also have your chocobo out to level him along as well. And of course, there's challenge logs for that as well, although in that case your chocobo will get the bonus exp.

You can't get atma from the FATEs in Eastern La Noscea, so people are usually elsewhere these days.
