So I'm at 33 crit now using tire III. I really don't want to sink time or Gil into IV, so I'm wondering what others have done?
Edit: thinking I should have posted this in DPS threads for jobs....

I'm planning to use up to only Det III and Crit III materia and put the remaining into accuracy. Meh, those few points of crit aren't worth millions of gil.
I'm going to have to go on a Spirit Bonding binge myself. Tier IV crit materia on my server is 250k and up, where as tier III was only 16k. Looks like I won't be finishing my Novus quite as soon as I thought.
Currently at +33 Crit, +20 Det, +8 Acc. Not sure yet if I want to finalize on 42 Crit, 25 Det, 8 Acc, or 40 Crit, 27 Det, 8 Acc.
+44 Crit
+31 Det
Getting the needed acc from high allegan gear, T1-9 is no need to have acc on weapon too!
Had about 7 Tier IV fails :(
Go hard or go home. Max that crit and det.
The fun begins when T10+ is released and all folks with no ACC on weapon as Tank/DD will be crying about bad drop luck of new allagan gear and having to switch back to other weapons to meet ACC reqs because new tome gear will probably be a bit crappy again. :D
Easy thing, each point of ACC you have on your weapon doesn't need to be on your armor. I think it is very shortsighted not to put ACC on weapon as tank / dd. Just my 2 gil.
I'll be putting some accuracy on it because I want to have the possibility of freely choosing between other equipment in the future in case the restrictions get tougher. If not then you can always get the accessory with CRIT and DET where the people who fully maxed those in the weapon had to pick ACC, for example.
See, I don't know when, if ever, I am actually going to be doing Coil. As a person in full Soldiery, ACC is fairly lacking. Things like Leviathan Ex still have higher Acc caps than Soldiery gear can even give you. Soldiery gear doesn't even meet T5 accuracy cap. I actually had much higher Accuracy with full Myth gear than I do with full Soldiery. So as it stands right now I have to wear pieces of myth if I want to do things like Leviathan Ex or T5 (which I still haven't gotten around to beating yet).
So, yeah.. Accuracy has a place on the Novus weapon depending on what you like to do and are capable of doing.
Besides, once I have the Novus completed they will eventually have an option to respec it if I decide I no longer need/want the added Accuracy.
Or maybe some just know what they are doing ...
Easy getting 600+ acc, way more than needed, without any on the weapon!
Edit: No thats not the setup i will aim for!
Showing that one can reach stupidly high accuracy by willingly taking everything with accuracy is just as stupid as showing you can go under 400 with accuracy on the Novus.
If you truly knew what you were doing and you really think that not using Tier IV is gimping oneself, you'd be an Elezen Duskwright instead of a Moon Keeper Miqo'te since the difference between their base Intelligence is 4 which the Novus Tier 4 doesn't cover in relative value for stats gain. Also, the difference in relative stats value by removing the Tier IV in CRT and DET and putting accuracy instead while allowing you to minimize the hit to switching to an Evenstar piece with an high Spell Speed value (while low value, more is still better to a degree, especially if you snap casts during high movement encounters) is around 1 intelligence and will actually give you some safety on the accuracy cap for the following tier of content since its itemization is as of yet (obviously)unknown.
If you tried to show you had a clue about what you were talking about and be a "CRT/DET only" advocate, you failed terribly hard.
Every time I think about atma & novus I get worried about the expansion & level cap increase. Unless there's another calamity, one that resets us all back to 1... we're going to be Toon level 75, with Item level 300.
@Dwill: No my intention was to give the link to the calculator, as i said i am not aiming for that high acc *sigh*
Op was asking what we do with our novus, will you really make it a "I am better than you" topic?
Dont cut through context, its 3 posting long from 3 players you have to read all to understand the context.
You pretty much steered the thread in that direction yourself with this post:
By the way, here's the link to the calculator: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/
That was tremendously hard to do without linking to some random 600 accuracy setup to try to discredit someone then backpedaling after being called out
In a SMN thread linking to a bard? sure yes!
Just stop your childish play please...
What's the max crit/det you can get without using IVs?
I've decided CRIT: 33, DET: 23, & ACC: 19 since at this point I barely play the job and in end game I main WHM. I can always get weapon upgrades for SMN in coil if I wish too.
Full Crit/Det no point in adding acc because i have over 500 with food. I only missing 1 det and 3 more crit to add to my novus and i'll be done :)
I'm 490 Acc without food and just got the novus and using it. Once i get the allgan neck i'll be over 495 without food. So there no issue and no point in putting acc in your novus if you get the bis for your SMN.
At the end you the stats base on your play style if you doing coil and can get all the bis gear. Then full crit/det is the way to go. If you don't do coil then you may want to do ACC and other stats to make up for it.
At the end of the days does not matter because next upgrade would change the stats somehow.
Missing a hit is worst for DPS than a few points of det/crit.
Capped my crit and am about 5 infuses away from capping det. I'm only doing it because I have the gil. Why make gil if you aren't going to spend it? :?
Then the question is why use accuracy food if you are at 490 where you should be using Buttons/Risotto instead ?
Also, I previously mentioned in this thread:
Plus the fact that people arguing about such a low gain of secondary stats (when compared to the above) are rarely the best race (which gives better primary stats, which are obviously much better than secondary) for the job.
At the end does it really matter? it going to get replaced with high allgan wep. I just wanted to make it into a better version of book of spades too i can get my hands on High allgan wep seeing how i have the acc needed to keep pet from missing so adding acc would do noting for me.
But i understand what you saying.
Ended up going 33 crit 23 det 19 acc as well, I personally don't think the extra secondary stats are worth over 8m.
When you don't feel like spending gil on DET IV or CRIT IV...
Be a little less reliant on Bards. Go for PIE.

Currently I am using Book of Spades, but if I will make Novus I will go for Cri 33 / Det 23 / Pie 19.
Reason
1. HA/ToS gears provided too much acc above cap, IMO it is still enough for future content.
2. I found myself run out of MP often (from Raise duty and weave Ruin II), Pie will increase my MP pool and MP return on aether refresh.
3. SpS 19 make no different in casting time.
4. Spend extra 3-4 mils to get Crit 11 Det 8 more is too much for me (except somebody who can make 1 mil/day)
Honestly the only fight I have trouble with MP is in T8, but that's because I'm practically blowing my load to push out as much damage as I can. What really hurts me is the Ruin 2 weaving and the Miasma 2s before contagion (I rarely have to raise if ever. My healers are awesome). I'd rather avoid Energy Drain.
Won't say your idea isn't creative though. I'd probably run it too if I was going for Novus [but I'm only at 3 Atmas atm and I really don't care for Relic (in general. There was a time where I thought I wanted PLD Atma... I really didn't) even with Novus's customization.]
As for the accuracy deal, atm I have 516 accuracy (With Book of Spades) and I'm missing 5 pieces of my BiS which will leave me at 492 accuracy (a perfect accuracy cap; missing boots, ring2, pants, earrings, book). Part of my BiS involves the T9 pants which give no accuracy. If push comes to shove I can use upgraded Evenstar tights for additional accuracy for the next coil, I can even use the Evenstar earrings. It's always good to plan ahead, but since HA pieces are so saturated with accuracy, raiders should have no trouble in the future (All the more reason to attempt SCoB honestly. I see no reason not to run it)
tbh your BIS is way different from what i look up if you don't mind asking where did get your information from? I got mine from this link http://www.ffxivguild.com/ffxiv-summ...me-gear-guide/
But if you have a better idea of BIS for smn i love to hear it.
I made it myself by wanting to be a mostly crit build. I love crit and love seeing 1.8k Festers and Enkindles happening fairly often. This is how I want to build my character which is why I said "my BiS" rather then calling it the absolute best, but by the end of the day, it's really the Weapon Damage and the Intelligence (and accuracy) that matters more then anything
I do not use Ruin II because of same global cooldown (but more mana cost).
Its good for T7 or in PvP, but normally you dont need it.
If SMN runs out of MP there is something wrong in the group.
Edit: (Generally) You should not critisize others build - respect them, they are making it public!
Basically a 13,000,000gil clone of Book of Spades.
Also glowy.
Is it that hard to farm your own Materia ?
I've made my materia myself by crafting / buying white ilvl49 melded gear , drinking a spiritbound pot and go hit some lvl50 mobs for +/-1h.
Like that I've got my Materias and EXP on my chocobo ( and some money too ).
But to each his own I guess.
I got them too you know ? And made them into money.
In Ragnarok the Elemental IVs are worth like 15k ish gil.
But I never stopped and I'm still doing, you can never have enough materia.
It's just 1h, not more really, you'll win so much from it even with all the elemental ones.
I've done this since 2.0 where I had to farm in Castrum to get those Materia needed for creating the Relic, it was there when I've noticed how well materia sell.
Now I spiritbond craft gear with combat gear at the same time to get some craft/gathering materias too.
And all I do is invest 1h +/- of my game time.
Not everyday ofc, some days I have coil or other events but just doing my 3 to 4 days of spiritbounding I make enough money to buy all new pets like they're worth nothing :P
