It works out great if the party members know the mechanics. My FC tried this for the first time using Titan-Egi and we've made it past 2 hour but half of us were still learning mechanics
well that depends on how well geared the sum is considering titan egi's stats depends on the sum's stat too
Does Titan-Egi need to collect the orbs as well to survive? Sounds like a fun strategy
With pets reduced damage from non-auto attacks (or is it just magic attacks?) there is no need to have titan collect orbs. He can survive everything fine. The hardest part will be not pulling agro.
Ideas to help.
Ideally you have a summoner with tank jewelry and possibly for funz,30 points in vit can help. This buffs sustain and buffer hp of pet.
100% sustain uptime gogo.
Threat could be an issue so frown on monks, and lots of summoners are good!
If you want to bring some tank with bad offspec gear, have him warrior with str accessories just to keep reduced damage debuff up (and do decent damage with defiance off).
For the Egi having hate, having Spur and Rouse help insanely. Fully buffed Enkindle and monk's Dragon Kick also help. My FC didn't rip hate off my Egi, but came close to before adds. Once adds dropped I left my Egi on Ramuh while everybody else dealt with adds. By the point where we were back on Ramuh, hate was re solidified.
I tried with VIT accessories at first but then swapped to my normal accessories since it really didn't make much of a difference. Maybe I should try again with STR?
It is very quickly turning into the only way to do this on my server XD. I think that that added component to tank swap is deterring tanks from this fight.
While I love a good 'alternative strategy', especially involving my favorite class... I really don't know how I feel about the Titan-Egi tank strategy. The fight is admittedly MUCH easier because tanks don't have to worry about the swap and orb management. Plus, your group can mindlessly clear all the orbs except the three needed for lines... so it is MUCH easier. But, I think it sort of removes the fun of the challenge. If it is a SE-sanctioned strategy, I can't exactly frown upon it, but I'd prefer not to do it that way outside of trying it once just for the fun of it. I notice that some players see this as very similar to the T2 enrage strat -- some people thought it was wrong and should be removed. Others argued that it was fun, easier, and more accessible. I didn't like the T2 enrage strat because it was way too easy and I probably won't want to do this because it oversimplifies almost all of the mechanics of the fight.
This method got me my first win. =D
Titan Egi is king, so much easier than with tanks
Seems like the Titan Egi strat is being nerfed in the update today.
The following issues have been addressed:
- In The Striking Tree (Hard) and The Striking Tree (Extreme) the damage taken by pets was abnormally low.
(--As of now, this method is null and void thus making this thread irrelevant --)
There is currently ZERO viability for this strategy, as SE has completely destroyed it.
One could even say.... SE has passed its.... Judgement... on the Titan Egi, hue hue hue hue.
really 0 viability, does egi now get 1 shot by shockstrike?
Titan-Egi takes the full non-reduced damage from Shock Strike now, so yes it gets one-shot. Titan-Egi's also can't pick up orbs. You'll have to do the fight with a regular group setup now.
i do find it funny that 1 of the few things SMNs were not using garuda-egi for SE came in and nerfed
That's probably because the titan egi "strat" not only over-simplified the encounter by breaking fundamental mechanics of the fight, but also led to the total exclusion of tanks. I don't see anything wrong with that "nerf", as it's not really a nerf, but merely a fix to non-intended gameplay.
well why they didnt do so for t2?
seriously its been pretty much fun doing the main tank there and doing decend dps o.o ...
i dont care got my drops from it... but still its been pretty much the best strat .. because seriously? how much good tanks can u find ? there are 98% idiots and 2%? godly tanks o.o well we will see ... the only point where u could use titan egi is removed... (did u seriously ever used it b4 in dungeons? no^^ (and only nib smn's use geruda because titan u have to move by ur self and not just let it shot down the boss from range...)
This nerf is so obivous. SE just made a misstake forgetting that every attacks of Ramuh is AE based, which means that the pets takes very low damage since they have damage reduction on AE
Ramuh is a one fight encounter, thus titan-egi was useful for the entire time. Absolutely no need for a tank.
I honestly haven't bothered with Coil, but if the same can't be said there, it would explain why they bothered with one and not the other. If you can't make it through all of T2 with titan-egi, and thus have to take a tank, then it's not as much of an issue.
