How should they really fix SMN Pets?

I think they should fix it by moving around an ability or two and adding some.

Garuda egi: for this SMN they should give contagion to the summoner and make it cost a stack of aetherflow. In its place they should give Garuda aero 1, and replace shockwave with an aoe attack thats about shadow flare wide and pull enemies to the target. And maybe have Garuda auto attack hit multiple enemies around the target, so basically making Garuda a mob killer.

Ifrift egi: for this SMN all they really need to do is to make Radiant Shield better. Probably make it so that it will give him a defense boost and do damage to anyone around him. And boosting his single target abilities, basically making him a boss killler

Would these changes be good or meh?

why do you feel that these changes need to be made in the first place? I don't think there is really anything actually wrong with the summons as of the current time. People just need to learn to be comfortable using Garuda on obey. Other than that there is nothing wrong with them.

Well if your using Titan out in the field and Garuda in Raid/Dungeon. At what point are you using Ifrit? I use Garuda for boss and Ifrit for mobs. The only reason why people use Garuda over ifrit is because contagion is a powerful ability. Now what if they gave the Summoner contagion now there will be no point in using Garuda. I remember that i read a post somewhere that said "Dev are upset that the players are only using Garuda and they want to balance it out between the two." If you was in charge of designing ifrit egi and people only use Garuda you would be out for blood right about now. How about instead of balancing the two how about make it so that ifrit was the single target killer and Garuda was the mob killer. Shockwave usually get the tank mad. An ability where the pull is more like pulling the surrounding enemies to your target would probably make the tanks/BLM happier. Also ifrit's current Radiant Shield seem more like something a tank would use to keep up aggro.

While I think you have some good ideas there, I don't think that Contagion should be given to the Summoner - especially while under the effect of Aetherflow. It would mean that the SCH would need to be given another Aetherflow ability to be balanced.

Besides, having Contagion be on Aetherflow means the removal of an opportunity to use Fester, or Bane, from the pool of three.

Personally I think garuda is just fine the way she is. If they change anything about ifrit it should be radiant shield and personally I think one of three ways.
1. Radiant shield increase defense so ifrit doesn't be come a liability getting hit
2. Make the shield a player buff so you could use it on a tank for spike damage.
3. Extend the spikes to magic damage instead of just physical.

The way I understood those changes to egi's, summoner would become quite buffed. The thing Devs should change with egi's are their AI. Make ifrit automayically move away from AoEs so you don't have to spend a GCD to throw sustain constatly on ifrit, reducing your dps.

Also they should take off the radiant shield off and put some DoT ability there, Duration for example 21 sec and CD would be 30-40 sec depending how it would balance ojt to not be too weak nor too powerful.

I agree with you on this, but the way pets work is attack/chase never anything else. I never seen a pet in a mmo do anything but attack or heal.

The only way to fix the Egi system is to give them all modified hard mode Primal moves which will get players to rotate pets.

I don't see why they don't just take radiant shield away and give an ability that increases the damage of bio 2, miasma and bio by an amount that would be equal to the damage increase you would get from co tagion (actually a little less). This would make ifrit your burst pet and garuda your boss pet.

Ifrit is great in PVP. by the time i contagion some one in PVP i've already almost killed them. Ifrit's enkindle also pretty much kills someone and if not, the DOT from it finishes them off.

Until the DOT from Ifrit's Enkindle runs close to its full duration, Garuda's Enkindle would have been more effective in bursting someone down. Contagion is good in pvp only because it allows you to spread super long duration dots to everyone... bonus points if it's under the effects of Raging Strikes.

I don't have a problem with the egis as they are now. Most people seem to just use Garuda constantly, but I use Ifrit for all the trash. In a normal-sized pull, the fight doesn't last long enough to take advantage of Garuda's abilities.

I do agree with what others say about Radiant Shield, though. Seems wasted on Ifrit, the return damage ability would be much better suited for being part of Titan-egi's Earthen Ward. The stun is also pointless, as Titan has one (as well as every real tank). So replacing those with a couple damage abilities on Ifrit would make sense to me.
