I am loving the hunt system (My feedback)

At first, I didn't think I'd like the hunts. But after seeing the gear associated with the hunt, and experiencing the normal hunts, I love it. But the system definitely could use some tweaking. Here's some feedback on what I feel is great, and what I feel needs improvement:

1) Gear cost - The i90 gear cost is actually nice, but I feel like it might be too cheap. Especially given the main gear folks like myself, would actually be aiming for, is 20 ilevels behind the i90 gear, which makes it nothing more than something for glamour. Which would beg the question: Why then if it is for glamour, would you bother giving this gear stats?

So going into details:
i90 Cleric's gear for white mages costs are:
Head - 30 Allied Seals
Chest - 40 Allied Seals
Hands - 30 Allied Seals
Legs - 40 Allied Seals
Feet - 30 Allied Seals

Now look at the hunts gear reward which is i70:
Head - 600 Allied Seals
Chest - 1000 Allied Seals
Hands - 600 Allied Seals
Legs - 1000 Allied Seals
Feet - 600 Allied seals

I feel that the higher ilevel gear should cost way more, while the lower ilevel stuff should cost way less. Add a 0 onto the i90 stuff, and knock off one 0 from the i70 stuff. The prices would then look like this:

i90 gear:
Head - 300 Allied Seals
Chest - 400 Allied Seals
Hands - 300 Allied Seals
Legs - 400 Allied Seals
Feet - 300 Allied Seals

i70 gear:
Head - 60 Allied Seals
Chest - 100 Allied Seals
Hands - 60 Allied Seals
Legs - 100 Allied Seals
Feet - 60 Allied seals

And considering that normal marks you get a maximum of 7 a day as a casual, just to get the i70 gear, would still take someone about 15 days of them dailies to get like the legs or chest item. And if they are after the i90 stuff, they'd be looking at 58 days of that daily grind not counting the elite marks.

2) Elite marks - The B rank ones, are seriously in need of a buff up. Naul as an example, dies about 3 seconds from someone soloing it. The result is pure frustration if you try to get the elite mark, and his location gets called out and then he's already dead before you get out a town gate. I feel that even a B rank enemy should be like fighting a Scarred Antelope from the south shroud. Take a good while to solo, and be best approached with friends. A ranks should require a full 8 man group, and the S ranks should take quite a number of raids.

Basically none of the elite marks should be dying in 3 seconds. When they start dying that fast from someone soloing them, then they are seriously underpowered elites and need some adjustments.

Otherwise, the system is wonderful and very fun! It just needs a few tweaks.

Thank you! I fully agree! I love the hunts too! :) It does need a few tweaks, like the weeklies, but I'm enjoying it.

I agree that the seal prices are odd... One would think i90s would be more expensive than i70s. But part of me thinks this is a temporary ploy to get people geared up and running Coil, since most of the disparity between people who are running it and people who aren't is iLevel.

The prices are fine when you think that there pure glamour items.

If they are meant to be pure glamour items, then they should of been level 1 with no stats at all. As it stands, they have stats for i70 for each class. But the prices between i70's and i90's, is way off. That is why I do not think of the gear as pure glamour.

It would be nice if there was at least enough time for your own party to make it to a B rank before it died (assuming your group was the first to spot the mark). It's pointless to cruise the zones stacking right on top of each other; better to spread out. And yet...

For example, I found Monarch Ogrefly in South Shroud. No one else there. I called my PT there, didn't announce in any LS. Even though it was relatively close to the aetheryte, people still barely made it before it was engaged. Hilariously, I got off one spell on it, a Fire3, and wasn't even awarded (any) credit. Pretty rad. I've also had folks call out a mark that was literally 50 yalms or less away, unclaimed at the time, totally die before I could even close the gap.

Would be nice if B ranks took at least 30-60 seconds to kill, instead of vaporizing in 6 seconds (or less). A ranks generally only live 12 seconds or less. Sometimes even S ranks get obliterated, though usually they last long enough to be worthwhile.

I was just talking to someone the other day, and they mentioned knocking a 0 off of the GC Allied Seals gear, which I agreed with. Glad there's someone else out there sharing that opinion. What you proposed would be an excellent solution to at least some of the complaints. I think the general consensus about the HP levels is they are too low, though.

I love this new hunting elites they added. It's the most fun I've had in awhile playing this game.

I don think the HP is bad, it's that they are obviously made so B Rank is to solo, A rank is for light party & S rank is for full party. B rank shouldn't be zerged like it is. If you find it kill it yourself. When you see an A or S rank, then call for help.

Yeah, HP is more than likely too low, but probably also their defensive stats too.

Personally, I have not done much hunting except some of the daily logs or something I stumble across. However, I think that the weekly mark, and only the weekly mark, should only give credit one time. It should not be farmable like the other marks and would give everyone a chance to at least get that done. More HP would definitely help, but being a B mark and farmable too leaves many out of at least getting their weekly done.

The prices are awful when you consider this.

A full set of i110<armor and accessories> cost 7000 allied seals to obtain with the current hunt system.

Some or all of these fixes should be included.

A) Daily rewards should be buffed. Is it seriously ok for it to take until around when 2.4 will be released before I can buy a single sand of time as a causal hunter?
B) Elite mobs need more HP. They simply die too fast. Making it easier for players to get a report of a mob, change zone and run to it, and still get contribution could solve a lot of problems.
C) The way to determine contribution needs improved. Just yesterday I killed my first S rank. I was there on my black mage with a party of 5. I got to it around 75% health and helped burn it. I got 5 points out of 50 because my contribution is too low. Is this really the way this system was intended to work? Was my contribution so low despite being there for most of the fight?
D) Prices need adjusted. i90 gear is a paltry sum, the new i70 gear for around a grand or so a piece, and 750 for i110. Does that make any sense at all?

The disparity is due to the turn based lockout every week. Once the lockout is removed, the content will most likely be nerfed/echo buffed. Handing out unlimited free Sands of Time now is not going to address this. If anything, getting a free i110 weapon via The Hunt is going to discourage people bothering with 2nd Coil at all.

This right here.... I should pull this and put it in the other thread. It's something some people don't seem to realize.

but the i90 gear is the same as the i90 myth gear you can get, mythology is so easy to farm its no wonder they're just giving the gear away. i70 would prolly be a bit more glamour but then you don't want a group in a low level dungeon wearing i70 glamour on lvl 15 gear then thinking your good to pull huge mobs and no one survives. So in a way I can understand the ilvl being on there, and its just the same gear just a different way to get it. also if someone is saving for alexandrite then any amount of seals is expensive lol

Think about this though, if the i70 gear was pure glamour gear, no stats, and was i1 from the start, no one would really think someone is a high level, unless they have the level sync icon by their name. And believe me, if the tank pulled and was squashed faster than I could heal, I'd be inspecting his gear immediately and decide how I want to proceed from there.

I think it might have to be considered that the 70 gear is also more flexible to who can wear it I believe. Still not worth the cost imo but a Myth piece might be Pld/Gld while the Hunt gear is Pld/Gld/War/Mrd.

It's not in front of me nor did I give it much thought after seeing it, so I could be wrong on who can wear the gear.

The i90's a cheap because you can get them with mythology as well as allied seals (and you get enough over time to be able to buy most of your allied seals i90's and a few of your mythology i90's [they're the same gear just 2 different currencies]). The GC specific gear on the other hand is brand new and can only be attained through seals and hunting and the one specific vendor.

While the ilvl is lower, the gear is new. Until the next string of hunts come out (perhaps in the expo) and we see some new GC gear come out (if ever) then we can expect the allied seal prices to remain the same.

Yeah, I too have no real beef with the hunt system.

Thing is, the B rank one is so badly underpowered, and the other rank ones die within moments, one can only get 7 marks a day. I decided of the gc set, I'd like to get just the hands and legs, which at current pricing is 1600 Allied Seals altogether. And getting an elite rank one? More than likely wont happen. So at 7 marks a day I am looking at not being able to get the pieces I want for a good 7-8 months. So the prices, are really unfair to people who can't even get to an elite mark before it is dead, and with them marks spawning all over the zone, good luck to anyone like me in getting the cool items.

So either the i70 set needs lowered in pricing, or they need to raise the amount of seals we get per mark.

I also like the hunts (replied as such in another thread). I still think an HP boost of 2-4x for B, 10x for A and 10-15x for S would be good.

As far as gear, the new stuff is potentially not glamour only. It's GC and when wearing 2+ pieces, gives boosts to certain stats. The more pieces, the higher the boost. So really, if you had all the gear and the weapon, you'd be stronger in PvP versus an i90 counter part since there is an item level sync to i80. i90 stats come down, and your i70 doesn't. (Unless I'm really misunderstanding the item level sync) I won't be able to go and do all the math or look into it further until tomorrow evening though. :(

Not sure who mentioned it but elite marks should lockout anyone that doesn't have the bill in their inventory or whoever completed it to give other players a chance at 20 seals a week. At least that.I couldn't care less if people keep vaporizing all other rank monsters. Also make the regular marks give 10 seals for completing all daily hunt a day. So the casuals can get at least 100 seals a week. While the hardcore people can get thousands a day.

The hunt system has actually reinvigorated my interest in the game, which had been lagging lately. It reminds me of NM camping in FFXI, which I loved. My only complaint has been a couple of times when so many people have turned out that it becomes like Behemoth and I lose the mob on my screen and end up with zero. I wish they'd fix the loading priorities for these.

Checked it out on the gear. +1/2/3 on crit or DET or par or acc depending on the role, piece and how many you're wearing, and those don't seem to be cumulative. Though won't know unless someone has 4 pieces, or a mod lets us know. And sanction boosts your weapon a little.

Seems like it'd be easier and better stats to just farm the new dungeons and get those gear pieces and i80 it up! That's what I'm going to do. GC gear is a LOOOOOONNNG way off for me and my little 235 seals.

So with these changes, people like myself might have a chance of doing an elite mark now with a group. I also noted under the S rank part, they were considering adjusting the amount of allied seals rewarded from regular mark bills and elite mark bills. That also is a good thing! Because just plain ol' 7 a day when you want to get the i70 stuff, is ridiculous, it's supposed to be a "Casual alternative". Yes I know casuals would go slower in getting seals, but 7-8 months?

So I will consider the feedback on the enemy HP dealt with. But the price is of gear is still a bit of an issue.

I very much appreciate the hotfox they did. The fact that hunts have been out for a WEEK and they already have done something to improve it is excellent.

I will also reiterate it would be great for daily/weekly hunt bills to drop more seals. Daily --> 5 per kill, weekly to 40.

I think it was just a mis-estimate of the actual popularity of the hunts and their rewards, so I'm looking forward to the continual adjustments.

Ended up joining a group while the As were down about an hour prior. 2 hours or so was how long I stayed, so they were just starting to spawn when I had to go. Even so, I was able to get about 80 seals in that time from Bs mostly, though we did come across 2 A rank marks. Before today that wouldn't have been possible, so I'm happy they at least did something. Well, while I definitely appreciate the changes thus far in the system, I am gonna stop participating in hunts for a while. Firstly, with elite hunts, no one will invite anyone, unless you are in their little LS, which they wont invite you to. So that forces you into participating as a solo player for 2 measly Allied seals. If someone asks if the elite mark is up and you say no, he just died, you get accused of doing obscene things to genitalia. And the elite gc rewards cost more than even the i110 stuff. So given the elites still being camped, the toxicity of the community, and the very little reward for effort given, 7 allied seals a day just isn't worth it. I wouldn't see the elite gear till the year was almost up. So SE either needs to raise the rewards for normal bills, or lower the cost of the gear. Till then, I'm going to do other fun things in the patch.

I'm in agreement with a lot of this. I'm a fan of the hunt system, it's refreshing to the game, gives people purpose to get out into Eorzea again, meet random people and generally kick ass and seperate ways.

As far as changes needed as per OP's main point, I totally agree with an alteration to the pricing of at least the i90 gear.

Add allied seals farmable, throwing of 80 myth / 20 sol per A rank, whatever the other ranks are, plus those seals, plus myth from dungeons/beast tribes, PLUS bonus myth from first runners of dungeons etc, it's seriously way too fast. All it's going to do is increase the people zerging the hunts once they've gotten that gear to get and geared up their i100, in order to get sands and oils.

As far as the community of hunts, on Jenova it's not so bad. We aren't as busy as other servers, but many groups will gather up/call out the mark, make sure everyone has a party and give others time to get ther eafter shouting the <t><pos> to the map. As always there are a few obvious cheaters/asshats, but it's pretty far and between.
