Seriously.
Everquest 2 did it so simply, gave everyone shared bank slots.
Just allow us to send mail to our other characters, simple fix.
Alot of people enjoy playing alternate characters and wish to gear those characters out themselves.

Or maybe implement some sort of shared bank. Like a small bank where you can deposit items and withdraw them on any character as long as its the same world. Frankly I just want any way of sharing items with my characters, since i happen to have a lot of them XD.
Shared Bank worked well in Everquest 2.
Pretty sure it is working as intended to battle the great Gil sellers. Not quite sure how. Easiest solution is tie all retainers on the server to one account.
You only needed one post, not to post a second one, copy and pasted, a day later.

Part of the problem is that RMT'ers would take advantage of this.
Granted...I would like to see an option such as this, but in a way(If possible) that wouldn't give RMTs(Or other Shady players) an unfair advantage.
RMTers? Gil-Sellers?
If so, they already are.
Can someone be a dear and post a beating a dead horse GIF here.
Thanks.
All it really takes for a gil seller to circumvent it is to have 2 accounts. Unfortunately, while that may be the thinking for not allowing such transfers between characters on the same account, it is a failed strategy, and merely inconveniences players. If it was super effective at combatting RMT, I might say it would be worth the tradeoff, but, I don't think it really accomplishes much.
In this particular case, I think it's hardly a dead horse, since it's a real pain for legitimate players with multiple characters...sure, you CAN do everything on one, but some of us don't like to. I have eight characters, and it's a pain to have to bother friends to trade items over for me, especially when leveling a new one and making gear on another. It'd be really nice to just be able to mail items to yourself...I get the RMT issue, but I don't think it's fair to inconvenience legitimate players for it, either.
Guild Wars 2 has a shared bank
AND
a shared crafting ingredients storage that you don't need to carry with you in your inventory to use. <--- best part.
I'd be satisfied with just being able to add my alt characters to the friend list and transfer items via Delivery Moogles... Besides, I don't really see how that would benefit gil sellers, to me it's just a drawback for players who want to use more than one character on the same server (for which I remind there is also a higher subscription cost).
It would be awesome if SE implemented something like this.
Would need access to it straight at level 1, so tying it to retainer is out.
Everquest 2 did it so simply with give everyone shared bank slots.
The easiest fix I see is just to allow mailing to your alternate characters.
Agree with what most are saying, I don't like to play just one characters and people need to remember, those who have more, pay a higher sub fee, so yes it is more than an inconvenience,
Best suggestion I can think is have all our characters auto added to friend list, so we can send them mail
I just use the free company chest as a shared bank between all of my alts, though I'd really like an option that allowed me to share with them also the stuff I can't put in the FC chest (Untradable gear). I don't think that would affect RMT activity in any way.
FC chest in theory might be great, one fatal flaw, if I gather a map on my gatherer alt, I can't put in chest to give to my main as it's classed as unique.same if I want to the level 15 green armor set, I can't give to an alt, as their also unique
Hope something is done soon to fix this rather annoying oversight.
If something like a shared bank is implimented, it should be locked behind a level barrier. 30 or 50 IMO (some MSQ quest unlocks the sidequest kinda thing). Shows that you are at least playing your character and probably will use it. Though either way, players (and RMT) will abuse it...
And I do have an alt I would love to trade with.
This is why we need to raise awareness and not let this issue slip through the cracks.
Their have been a ton of threads about it, sadly it didn't slip through the cracks, they were just buried deep.
A token gesture would be to allow you to store unique items in FC chest, since the way to use FC chest to trade items only works up to the point you gather a map or get a unique armor item that can be sold on MB but not put in chest.
They know, they also dont agree.
In their minds, trying to thwart Gil Sellers trumps your convenience. Period. End of story. See you later. Buh bye.
Its been requested here since launch, and SE always shoots it down.
Keep asking if you want, but dont expect to get what you're asking for.
Anyone know how/if barring trading between alts affects RMT bots in any way? I'm not seeing that it inconveniences anyone but legitimate players with multiple character on one server.
This 100% where's the evidence it stops or prevents rmt. Adding a filter to block out all tells below level 10 would prevent rmt tells, an auto report feature would help prevent it, legit trading between your own characters prevents people upgrading to the 8 char package
The transfer of items between your characters on same world is enough easy, don't see the need to make changes. You always need to log off and on to get them, and you always have to use an interface (fc vault), so a different interface (your mail) does not adds nothing.
Unique/nontrade items are meant -by game design- to be kept only by the character who got them, and I like things keeps as is.
It sucks that SE makes us all suffer because they can't find a sensible way to deal with gil sellers. I remember a while back, somebody asked about shared storage (or something similar) and Yoshdia said they couldn't do that due to gil sellers. If we can't have that, then they should at least allow us to send mail between alts x amount of times per day; they could even limit it by not allowing us to mail gil between alts. It's silly that I have to keep giving people items so they can give it back to me on my alt.
Why would you have more than one character on a server in this game.....
Why is one of the top answers to a question like this always "gilsellers would use it"? Of course gilsellers would use it. SE needs to track gilsellers independantly of features players want, like by adding quick reporting tools (right click -> report works nicely in other games) and not by just keeping useful features out.
I can see it for the retainers, but thats pretty hardcore. The game lets you have every single class on 1 character, just seems illogical to make a 2nd character.
Seems like the game is designed around the idea of only having 1 character.
I can also understand wanting to log in incognito.
But I would venture to say that 90%+ of people here have 1 char per server. And if that is indeed true, it isn't really in SE's interest to "fix" a problem that doesn't exist with the majority of its player base.
There's other reasons as well, such as storage. I remember having several "mules" in XI that would hold various items for me that overflowed the inventory. Some people are pack rats like that. I mean, it just seems silly to argue against allowing characters to mail items to one another on the same account. That they even thought to put preventative code in for it is a little baffling.
would be nice to have this, Aion has a shared bank, witch is really nice to have. not having this is not going to stop rmts, they always find a way around doing things, seeing that they have more then one acc.
The whole can't send item to people not on your friendlist does nothing to stop RMTs they should of left delivers the way there were in XI you could mail items to anyone.
I make multiple characters for role playing, with each character having a focus on 1 to 2 roles to play with. However it got really outrageous that I have to rely on friends to transfer gil and items just to do what I want... a lame barrier. I bought another account to help myself transfer and finally do treasure maps whenever I want, instead of being forced to do 4 at a time.
I have 3 characters at 50, finishing up the current storyline of 2.3, with another character coming up... no idea why, but it feels to fun to play a different race.
