Did CT2 just revealed cross breeding between different races is ABSOLUTELY possible?

First of all, we got Xande which is a Roe with a "mutated" ear (genetics wise it could be normal Roe's ear shape at Allagan era), then those clones claimed they're being cloned from Xande's lineage which is definitely a Hyur? Those two clones didn't exhibit any Roe + Hyur characteristics, like the Aesthitician Ele + Hyur hybrid characteristics. To add more confusion, if our friend Gr'aha Tia's Allagan Eye is also a royalty trait, why the bloody hell he doesn't exhibit any Roe + Hyur + Miqote hybrid characteristics?

That cross breeding possibility, or the Allagan royalty trait is GENETICALLY ENGINEREED on selected individuals?

I belive that the Allagan are a race apart fron the 5 we have, like the Garlean race.

We have no clear idea what allagans *actually* look like.
The fact that Xande is a normal "Allag" guy, but his offsprings being Hyur, could mean that Xande has been "improved" when Amon resurrected him.
Nothing in CT or Coil is sized for the "giant" Allags, sooo...

I personally believe that crossbreeding between the races is absolutely possible. I don't think they would kill this in the lore. That would be more regressive than forbidding same-sex marriage, which we know they aren't doing. As mentioned elsewhere, it could be implied from the Mail Moogle quests that Baderon's daddy is a Roe. Considering the Roe population of Limsa, this would not be surprising. It just may be that some racial traits tend to be more prominent than others. This kind of genetics is also true in the real world. The only race with significant dimorphism from the standard human physiology is Roegyden. It could very well be that their genetic traits tend to be more regressive than the others, which could explain why people who appear to be of a specific race may have Roe ancestry and not show it. As for G'eras eye... Despite what the clones said about being sterile, I have a feeling that G'eras line having the eye isn't natural. Pure speculation. Based on how uncommon hetrochromia is in the first place, and the fact that G'eras talks about the Allagan EYE singular. The clones didn't have heterochromia, which means this feature either entered the Allagan Royal Line at some other point or is, perhaps, a feature of the first Miqo'te member of that line. I dunno. I just can't help but feel that its more complicated than our Miqo friend simply being a descendant. It pains him, but not the clones. Curious...

Are clans different races?
I am of the opinion they are not there are several instances where elzeen and mi'qote share traits of both clans within the npc populace.

Are inter racial exchanges less potent?
I believe the answer is yes, but I may be mistaken. Reasoning the majority of prostitutes throughout all the regions seem to seek clients of a different race in all cases. I recall one explicitly making this statement in an interaction, making inter racial possible but rare. What is Xande?
Given then Allagan like to play with alterations I am more inclined to believe he is a midland hyur augmented with a voidsent, in this case an ogre. The "ear" is more of a horn structure, and the named attacks and even the auto attack are very similar to that of an ogre. Also notice the finger length, Roe fingers are the same thickness an for the most part length. Xande's fingers taper in thickness and length like the other 4 races from index to pinky. They do not appear to be longer than his palm size ruling out elzen. Head shape rules out lala and no tail rules out mi'qote.

What is G'eras?
Given we know interbreeding is possible coupled with the above information and his facial structure he is a sun seeker midlander cross at some point in his lineage. The normal eye being slitted, and owing to sun/moon crosses inheriting the round eyes as the dominant trait, an of course the tail. The facial structure is much more rounded than that of a sun seeker. With no pronounced cheek or chin which with eliminates roe, highlander and elzeen as options.

Given the clones flat stated they are infertile (probably engineered that way to avoid issues) it is unlikely he is inherent of the Allagan eye in any way other than direct lineage. The fact it only occurs in one male of his family each generation passed by father, means the original entry point into his lineage was from a male hyur passing on the recessive eye trait to a female sun seeker (sun seeker eyes also being a recessive trait).

This is where the speculation part starts:
Allagans controlled much of the continent before their self inflicted fall, and were interested in expanding their territory still. Also their royal line were themselves not uncommonly military figures. I suspect when the fall occurred there were royals in the field attempting to expand into the ul'dan territory. On the loss of Allag they simply remained in that area instead of continuing their push for territory simply integrating into the area as deities rather than conquers, Nald and Thal being those original allagan royals. Those 2 deities have a strong connection with life death and the voidsent.

Much later, enter the great mi'qote migration, coupled with female sun seekers regarding intercourse are a status symbol, and the prestige a descendant of Nald or Thal would have making then prime targets, but highly inaccessible to the transient mi'qote, for coupling. At that point royal blood would have been thin through entropy with hyur breeding and the recessiveness of the trait (there is a fair amount of time separating the 2 calamities) it wold be extremely rare to even be a carrier still.

Why does the eye hurt?
This one seems easy enough, the royal allagans have a pact with the voidsent, in allowing them a gateway to pass into this dimension the voidsent infect the royals with their power to enhance themselves. Those royals' aether is being consumed by their void infectors eventually the balance tips and they loss control to their voidian parasites. Because of his extremely diluted blood line G'eras void parasite has very little draw of his aether, and only in the presence of a portal can it feed in a great enough quantity to cause pain, but will not have the strength to take over, as happens with the clones that are essentially pure blood royal, and as such would have stronger void parasites. You notice the clones wretch in pain when they are being consumed until they become more voidian than than aether baring allagan.

I took the G'raha Tia eye thing to imply that some or all of the 5 races are "genetically engineered" offshoots from the same progenitor race (perhaps "allagans"?). Allagans got bored of being vanilla hyur so some of them wanted to splice themselves with cats and gorillas to make mi'qo and roes, for example. Something like splicing from Batman Beyond (and many other fictional works, natch). It would conveniently explain why interbreeding among the 5 races is possible, since in real life biology, usually that doesn't really work while still producing viable, preferably non-sterile offspring.

Miqote are hyur/couerl hybrids

Lalafell are Hyur / Mandragora Hybrid. Pick the "onion hair" and there you are!

Ehhhhh. I'd argue Lalafell really do, too. They're *tiny* compared to even Miqo'te, and us cats are pretty short.

Erm. At least half the playerbase is odd-eyed. I don't think it's nearly as rare in Eorzea as it is IRL. xD

Yes, but how many NPCs have heterochromia? Yup. Segregation of gameplay and story, kiddies. WoW has this lore bit where gold eyes are rare and considered auspicious among the Night Elves, but this is a character creation possibility.

I haven't read Feren's post about interbreeding but from what I recall about genetics while going through school, I remember hearing something along the lines of recessive and dominate genes, such as Brown Eyes vs Blue Eyes and one being more dominate than the other results in one appears more often than the other in offspring between two parents. Obviously I have no proof since this was something I had learned over 10-15 years ago in a classroom mind you, and I'm too lazy to look it up online atm. However if this is true, might be it holds true for interbreeding in Eorzea as well? Not sure exactly how it'd work though with 5 different races being physically built quite differently. May even be that over the course of time, the new offspring begin mating with 1 or 2 specific races, Unei and Doga may be the result after a few generations after Xande only mating with more Hyurs, having the two of them ending up being Hyur, at least in appearance, and after them at some point, the royal family started mating with Miqo'tes more often, and over the course of time, diluting the royal bloodline until it gets to G'raha Tia and he appears as a Miqo'te with only 1 Allagan Eye, indicating dilution of the royal bloodline. Speculation and sounds a bit crazy even to me, but its the idea that popped into my head.

True. I suppose the entire storyline is centered around the PC being the "special snowflake" so it fits.

This is common in all MMO's I believe. Thought I think heterochronic eyes are a rare thing in MMOs

Speaking of which. there IS one NPC with heterochonea. G'raham Tia (Who is already part of the topic subject). And he is a special case.

You know, Morningstar, I never thought about that. I can't think of another MMO that allows for odd eyes in the character creation process. Certainly not WoW, Rift, Terra, nor SWTOR.

I am going to assume you mean G'Raha here. Looking at him, there is nothing about him that isn't a part of the standard miqo'te character creation. The face, the tail, the heterochromia. It's all pretty normal for a Sunseeker. The only thing that's weird about him is this "Allagan eye" of his.
