How can we obtain these new costumes?
-
Those are all craftable except for the Ti Leaf Lei and South Seas Talisman, but you need the new demimateria recipe books to obtain the recipes for them. You can get these books from the same NPC which handed out the i70 tools for crafters and gatherers.
-
I don't think any of those are craftable (there don't seem to be any recipes for them while recipes for other new items are easy enough to find) or currently obtainable. They're more than likely rewards for the yet to be announced summer event.
-
-
No they are craftable. I just got the demimateria Leatherworker book and they're in there.
-
I dont think the Lei is craftable unless I am just not seeing it in my books.

No.. only the Couerl ones are craftable.
-
Yeah, I guess I didn't scroll down for whatever reason (nor did the OP I suppose). 3 of those are craftable, the other 4 are not.
-
From what i'm hearing as of late you can get them from desynhing a Giganshark.

This is true, I've heard the recipe unlocks from desynthing Gigansharks as well, it doesn't just give you the item.

this makes no sense. you desynth it on a CUL and then...craft a swimsuit or should I say..cook it? Lol.
-
South Seas Talisman is from CUL fish desynth(shark), I have it on my BRD.
-
Most of those are craftable.
Some of them come from Fish Desyth (BIG FISH)
There may be other methods for others.
The only issue with making them is that they require water resistance cotton which is unknown at this time.

Weirder things have happened in the world of FF... :P
Really though, was just relaying info. Didn't make sense to me, but the first I saw people talking about it was "the recipe" dropping.

I think I read somewhere that the cotton came from a retainer 18hr Exploration XIV venture.

I've done that everyday since patch now and my stack of Coeurl skin & meat is growing to big amounts ¬¬
Seriously am getting nothing else from it.

I honestly don't understand why cosmetic items have to be harder to get than ilvl 110 items. Hell going from Zenith to Novus is easier and less time consuming/expensive.
This is like saying we need to beat Bahamut Coil 2 to complete the Summer event. While it will be a nice change from Fates, it is silly to make it that difficult.

This. This so much. There's no reason why vanity gear has to be 2 or 3 star crafts.
-
I can personally confirm that the South Seas Talisman is from desynthing rare fish. Also the blue female top (forgot name, who cares cause it's a bra I can't use so meh.... )
Oh, and you get the full item by desynthing. No crafting involved.

Looking good takes work! Can't expect to find high-end gear at a Wal-Mart. :3
Now..with that said, this is not real life and I also think it's absurd most of the new vanity gear requires master crafters or a ton of gil. :(

LOL no matter how many times I read it I can't help but laugh it how it's made.
You also have to grow the mandragora minions I heard. I saw one being sold for 5 million..>,>

Maybe it should be rare vanity gear to make it special and not common vanity gear that everyone can have for 100 gil.
Like a necklace with a nice motive and expensive gemstones versus a glass necklass
Something for rich players to show other players how rich they are.

This is perfectly OK, but there needs to BE that 100g cheap vanity gear and/or low-level craftable vanity gear for the non-rich to have. As it is, SE has basically made vanity into an elitist- (or gil-buyer-) only club. It's patently ridiculous and SE needs to get their collective head out of their collective ass.

What does vanity gear even have to do with elitism ?

Wait, what? Someone got eaten by a shark and left behind their undigested clothing for vanity!?

Speaking of, I can see from your avatar that you did a good job cleaning the brain matter out of Scylla's skull. XD

i'm sorry but i call conspiracy! i casn't help but to think SE is actually helping these gil sellars. i mean i know it's crazy but why else would vanity gear REMAIN the most difficult and expensive gear to obtain yet it has absolutely NO value as far as ANYTHING progression related.

Because the one aspect of vanity that people ALWAYS ignore or forget. Everyone having everything makes for boring vanity. People want to be unique to some degree, but if everyone can get every vanity piece easily, it defeats that. You can say you don't care, or just do it for the way you look and don't care about uniqueness, but for many they want that.

To be accurate, many of the people that want "uniqueness" just don't want other characters to be able to look the same as themselves. That's really just a bad attitude to have, especially with crafted vanity that gets sold (or tries to sell) for ludicrous amounts of money. That's no longer a case of the person trying to make a unique look, and is really a case of the person trying to score some cash off the backs of people that do want a unique look.
