Please make it easier for healers to tell who is in range

In both CT and Frontlines I have a very hard time telling who is in range on my party/raid list. It can be very frustrating when I'm trying to prioritize who to heal quickly and I find myself wasting time clicking on people that are too far out of range for heals.

Please add an optional UI feature that "fades out" people on the name plaques if they are greater than 30 yalms away.

Makes sense.

Is it annoying yes. Face target is a bandaid you can use while we wait for the fade out name plaques.

That's not the issue, it's in, say Frontlines, and your alliance split apart to go around the map. You don't know who's actually with you, and suddenly, on your party/alliance list, a HP bar goes down sharply. Any healer's instinct is to select it, but if that person happens to be on the other side of the map, there's no notification of it, so you're furiously clicking/mashing the name but nothing's happening until you realise he's dead on the other side of the world.

And you can't medica II/medica alliance members unless they're in your party. And we know how effective Cure III is when you're spread out i.e. it's not. And if you're clumped together, you're just asking to get AoE-ed/Flared down.

If someone is far enough away, you can't even target them to check the range indicator on the actionbar to begin with.

They just need to add an option to fade out units in the party list/alliance list who are greater than 30 yalms away.

Doesn't work with macro icons. And half of the frustration is looking at 24 name plates and not knowing who is in range until you click on each individual one.

In addition to this, I find it frustrating that your character will turn to face whoever you click on to heal. If they happen to be behind you, your character will completely turn around, making it difficult to reorient yourself when trying to avoid an AoE using the "strafe" keys (Q, and E).

Some healers share hot bars and macro each spot.

If you use Legacy Controls this becomes a non-issue, while allowing you to keep auto-face target on.

As a fellow sch I'm proud of you. So any idiots and/or lazy people. I have like 7-8 macros myself, all for different situations. Lol.

And yeah darking a name out could be helpful. I run controller, so Outside of 2 of my macros that target 2 and 3rd person on my list specifically(the 2 tank spots in 4 and 8 man dungeons) , I use the d-pad to just scroll through teammates as I do things.

I'd prefer they release a toolkit for addons, personally. I've healed in many games and this is probably one of the most cumbersome. I have made it work with mouseover macros, but I would still prefer a proper set of raid frames altogether.

I believe the command is /autofacetarget off ..

I have 1 macro with a green healing icon that has /autofacetarget off in it, and another macro with a red sword icon which has /autofacetarget on .. Makes it easy to switch between healing and fighting mode ;)

its easy. you hard target the far person then soft target nearest person.
have embrace/physick macro'd and while your healing one the fairy will fly off to heal the far away one.
its no different then playing SCH in Levi Ex

Initiate embrace on one target.

Switch targets and use the macro on the second.

We understand this but this is an ineffective way of telling who's in range because you have to target every person to see who is in range and who isn't.

It also does not work for macros.

How about the people who are too far away get greyed out on the party list? And if they are the only one not standing near their group they should be able to tell easily since everyone will be greyed out but themselves.

EDIT: By "greyed out" I mean the text in their name and such shows grey not white and it gives a error message if you try to click on their name. I don't mean that all their stats turn to ???? like when they're in another area all together because that would be annoying.

I like using the lock-on feature to target someone outside my party during raid content. This will allow me to quickly zoom in on them and then I can gauge my distance from them and move accordingly. This won't work for everyone's play style, but it's one of the recommendations I'd put for healers to help gauge a distance (as a temp idea if/when SE implements something a bit more useful). Obviously, it won't lock on if you can't target them. I have my lock-on key binded to the middle mouse button to facilitate easy access. I think on a controller, lock-on is on either L3 or R3.

I would love to see this feature added! Was thinking to myself when doing the new ST how practical this would be in being able to position yourself to be in range of everyone because lets face it, you always get people who decide to run round the room not giving a f**k about whether they can get heals or not.
Also for mouse over heals of other parties would be a huge QoL improvement.

Again from a dps point of view it would enable them to make sure they are not going out of range of the healers thus making the healers move to accommodate.

In ST specifically I have to remind people to stand near-ish to their location marker so that Medica's land. If not, you have to cycle through the list and try and find who's where and what distance.

I like this idea for QoL purposes but I think if you're able to communicate well enough this isn't a big problem.

Yeahhhh I've run into this quite a bit in ST where people for some reason don't want to stick close to their party (We had one bard that was clear across hanging out with another alliance and one healer kept having to run out into the middle just to heal her. I kept telling her to let them die, but she's too nice. xD)

In any case, this would be a great idea. Sort of an at-a-glance way to know who is priority and who isn't.

Frontlines is very frustrating as a healer without this.

Yes it does just use the /micon "name of skill" as the first line...

This is one of my biggest complaints about the game right now. In CT is is not a huge deal but it would still be helpful. In FL it completely kills healing for me.

I also wish I could make the alliance frames vertical and have a separate button to access each of the alliances. IE:

-Up/down with no button pressed does party.
-Up/down+left bumper does 1 alliance frame.
-Up/down+right bumper does alliance frame 2.

I agree that there needs to be a range indicator. I also wish there was more options with how to display the party list. I would really like if the party list could be horizontal instead of vertical and I think the resource bars in the party list should be optional.

I heal completely with hotkeys for targeting (Shift 1 selects first party member, Shift 2 selects second party member, etc). This makes healing alliance members difficult and honestly I usually don't even bother healing alliance members. If there was a hot key to switch to targeting the alliances, that would be awesome.

Yeah it's awful in Frontlines when you're trying to heal a DPS and you waste time trying to select them when you could be Holying, or healing people who ARE close to you.
