Does anyone else feel that theres nothing worse then FINALLY ranking to R50.. I mean.. how can you honestly switch to an inferior class.. Even when I play as another class.. I constantly think about how "this will make my lancer more unstoppable".. If it wasnt for my goal to fully gear up my Lancer with HQ armor and weapons.. i would probably begin to rank up a DoM just to get stat conversions for.. my Lancer >,<

No, but can GLA/PUG deal damage as a LNC? No. Why? Lancers generate more TP than any class, meaning more WS's and more TP negation of mobs with Twisting Vice. -

Just covering the bases. Lancr is fine but it doesn't make the other jobs "inferior" nor will it outshine other jobs in their field.
Also Pugs deal great dmg and build huge TP but its here nor there. -

Glad to know that Lancer is a rock at 50. I like the play style of Lancer and am looking foreward to whatever new updates come out. You should level up another class if you have time. You may find that you actually like another class more or the same. As well, if you start out a lower class again you can meet new people at that Rank. I started out as Glad, Pug, Archer, Conj, Thaum, Lancer... till I found the class that was my calling.

I didn't know that I had to put up a disclaimer saying that I know that Lancer isn't literally better than all the other jobs. I was just stating that I feel that Lancer is the best. It is the best job for me. I didn't say that it is the best for everyone else and that they just don't realize it yet. I have researched every job in this game and I appreciate how important they are. Just because I don't say that all the time, doesn't mean that I don't feel that way. Lancer is the best job for me. It is the most fun job.

As been showed in other threads in this forum a lot of people don't know what lancer is.

Obviously other players don't even know what their job is supposed to do. If thats not an indication that lancer does need a fix then you won't ever think so.
Saying some jobs are going to be nerfed doesnt change the fact that they can do things lancer can do only better. Means lancer needs to be fixed more than they need to be nerfed. I don't dissagree thats why I took archer to 50 before they nerfed it.
Lancer is great but get real it needs a fix. Bring back the 250tp feint for example and leave it the same for the rest of the jobs. They already cant use life/speed surge which hardly defines the class. -

Lancer definitely does needs some changes done to it. I've noticed that for a long time now, just like all the other jobs imho. Though, I don't see how just saying how I think Lancer is the best job is being a disservice. If the dev team gets swayed that easily by a few people saying Lancer is the best, then I think we need a new dev team. But, I'm sure that isn't going to happen.

lol you corrected me? the original poster.. the only person in this thread that can explain the meaning behind his original post.. your self given name, God, suites how you must view yourself.. I mentioned that SE is fixing the battle system..I bet you that when they do, it will help define job roles better. I also mentioned that LOW ranked lancers may think of themselves as tanks due to our ability to wear heavy armor and easily steal hate with our high damage, speed, and TP generation.. a lancer's high MP pool is another reason why low ranked players add in magic and debuffs.. its almost as if this game was built for flexibility.. hmm

This threads purpose was to show that I, an actual R50 experienced Lancer am having problems playing other classes because of Lancer being a unique class..oh.. and I dont know.. my liking for lancer??.. You took out of context that I meant the other classes are inferior in stats.. which is debatable.. my use of inferior meant, the job lancer (in imo as the OP) is more fun to play then other classes.. At first I was like LOLLancer, but then it grew on me. Playing it myself and seeing it in higher parties I can say that it isn't a weak class but It definately isn't the strongest. It's an upgrade from dragoon in FFXI though... haha.

My Lancer doesn't have a major role in a party. My Lancer isn't the best DD. He's not the best Tank. My Lancer is a Lancer. He just does what he does, and he does it damn good. That's why it's my favourite class so far.

I am a Drg at heart. Lancer is my favorite job due to this but I also respect the other jobs. I know I am not DD king nor am I vital to a party... but when I am in one, oh how easy it makes things for the rest. My Speed Surge II gives a little relief to mages. My Comrad in Arms II Kills the mob faster for all. My twisting vice keeps some big damage or debuffs at bay that the mob has in store. These are key notes that lead to a more successful and quicker raid in the future.

Thats pretty much the role of the lancer, not vital for most parties, but significantly noticeable when in one. Decent DPS/DD, and when used properly, most mobs rarely get the chance to attack with their TP skills. Another thing is that you really don't need that many cross class skills for lancer. The only ones I would deem necessary would be Bloodbath,Raging Strike,and Rampart. Semi-necessary would be Hawk's Eye and Still precision. Ones that are nice to have would be healing bases skills such as second wind and sacrifice + buffs. But when in a party healing and buffing should not be part of your concern. But yeah, overall my favorite class by far.

Personally, I think of LNC as the all-around/tp control. I have no problems killing two mobs at once with pierce, skewer 2 and circle slash (yes circle slash is gld, but nobody plays without some outside skills). I hit consistantly (feint for insurance). And even at lvl 29 I can all but completely control the mob's tp ( I get off several tp attacks to their one...two maybe). So against noncasters a full lvl lnc should virtually never see any manuever that cost the mob 1000 or more tp. And against a NM or when you are faced with mobs of ARC and the like, that's a big deal.

Lancer is a support class, and I play it as such.
TP mitigation, TP boosting, debuffs, decent damage, its not really a damage dealer, but its not really anything else, it is what it is.
Granted, a fully buffed Doomspike II does massive damage in a BR, but that's an occasional skill, not like some of the other class' damaging abilities.
I know my role in parties, and I do a damned good job at it too.
Take pride in your favorite class, but don't downplay others' as a result of that. -
