what? there is a welcome back campaign? :O
It was announced in the Patch Notes video at the end, but with disclaimers.
Afterwards they went silent about it as if they cancelled it.
Confirmation I not crazy:

I saw a post about it on Instagram yesterday from squareenix_official, was that same picture with the dates. Seems weird that they haven't really said much about it.
They will probably send mass emails to lapsed accounts.
I really would like if GM got more information about this. Im sure others want this.
Greetings,
Sorry for the late update on this, but we'll be pushing back the Welcome Back campaign start time and it will not be this weekend. We'll make an official announcement on Lodestone once the campaign details have been finalized!
So.. should we be happy with this answer?
I mean, is this news confirming that things are going well, so you don't need more money from those that left, or it has nothing to do with it, and you just want old players back.. and their money.
/Shrug
Oh and welcome to the community Grekumah ^^
And you guys decided to wait the weekend OF to TELL US THIS??
What the fluff? Why wait so last minute- and as a board response no less- to talk about this?!
Ive been telling everyone I know who has the game, but left, about it, and we've been planning a FB event for this since the video released.
Please use your social networks for these sorts of things- that's what they are there for. This should have been annonced atleast a day after patch released....
I wish they would do another Free Log in on FFXI so I could test out what they've done to make a decision on if I wanna pay for two subscriptions.
You made the announcement? You mean you made a comment when someone asked about it, would you have even said anything if no one asked about it? There is nothing on the lodestone about it being delayed.
Something tells me you have known for a while that it would be delayed.
@Bayohne
A lot of people 'coming' back may find that their servers are derelict and abandoned. Any chance that you guys could maybe offer a bundle? Renew your subscription and get a discounted/free server transfer?
Wait, so you 'determined' the details of the event and went ahead and announced it, but you never 'finalized' it, therefore had to push it back? Sounds to me like whoever was in charge of this probably shouldn't have a job right now. You don't put out a trailer then say 'my bad' once the event SHOULD have started.
Im a little annoyed, ever since it was included in the 2.3 Trailer you guys havent talked about it - for a very social media company that in itself was suspicious.
Since then ive been scouring the internet for further information and on the day its supposed to happen, i see this as an official response...
Can you at least do the right thing and send a tweet about this update?
Wait, this just shocked me, nya.... Servers are..... 'derelict and abandoned' ?... Oh damn, where are you playing?!... I should transfer there a month, take all the elite marks I could and then go back to Zodiarl... Because, at least here, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE... (Okay, no, exaggerated, just, almost impossible) to catch an elite mark at time.... All the damn maps are full of crazy people running around. And from time to time you see a super mega troop running to a location... You decide to see what are they doing and you find that it is a linkshell of 4.000.000 members trying to destroy a B mark. (Okay, I exagerated that too. There are no linkshells with 4.000.000 members. Maybe just a few number of 12 linkshells with its full 126 members or so)
Maybe the devs are disappointed about the reception of patch 2.3, and think it's better that players are "Welcome back"ed to a more positive community and less flawed gameplay mechanics and less obvious grindfests.
Many hotfix patches about a few issues are needed before players will feel "welcome", I think. Too bad they forgot to look at the date and let the community managers know.
Man there sure are a lot of people in this thread making a huge deal about absolutely nothing.
Let these guys do their jobs and go back to playing your game lol. The event will come when it comes. Not the end of the world that it was delayed.
The servers are as alive as they've ever been at the moment so I don't believe there's any danger of people coming back to find "dead servers".
What announcement? Are you calling a community rep response to a forum post - that most unsubbed players are unlikely to read - an "announcement"? That's a pretty lackluster way to make such an announcement, especially when the Welcome Back campaign was promoted in such a big way in the 2.3 trailer. I know it says "dates are subject to change", but I would have thought a professional game company would decide on and announce such a change a little earlier than the day before the campaign was supposed to begin.
The Welcome Back campaign is/would've been a big draw for unsubbed players to return. I know it was for me. Now that it's not happening, I resubbed to check out 2.3 anyway. At least for 30 days.
So maybe that was SE's scheme all along, to get people excited about a free weekend and plan to return on those dates, then secretly stop promoting it hoping people will forget and resub anyway without having to lose money giving away a free weekend.
I know you community reps are just the messengers, but whoever is in charge of PR/marketing at SE should get the message that people remember stuff like this. It leaves a very bad feeling when devs change their minds from what was announced, which may be for good reasons, but then not say anything about it until pressed. Remember Novus relic quest delay? Or Coil 1 Echo boost delay? Or a number of relatively small things that create a big thing in sum? The players do.
The complaints aren't so much about delaying the campaign (although it sucks for those who may have planned their weekend around it), but about this pattern of bad communication between devs > community reps > players regarding changes to previous announcements.
Wow, you guys are really let him have it :/
They no tell me immediately. Me think communication bad cuz they no tell me immediately. Me mad.
Seriously, immediate communication is no good either since everyone would go all sky is falling.
They probably wanted to fix the frontlines and other big issues (like ps3 desynthesis) so pe9ple coming back wont get upset.
Oh who am I kidding, HANG EM HIGH.
Glad they finally respond to my post... I guess.
More disappointment for the unsubbers. There has to be a reason people unsubbed and tellling them the day of that the dates moved even though there was a disclaimer... you still ruined someone's day.
These forums are always a great reminder that people will complain about literally anything, even if it doesn't effect them.
Appreciate the heads up, I'll let my friends who unsubbed know. :)
They said that the dates are subject to change and there's been no official announcement for details. Take a moment to use your logic and figure out for yourself that they probably pushed it back and haven't yet had the time to put out a formal announcement. It's fine to question why it wasn't announced, but not to harass them for working hard behind the scenes.
This is their job, and they have far more responsibilities than just waiting on forum-goers hand and foot. I assure you that responding on the forums is a significantly smaller percentage of their workflow, and making sure that every person knows every detail of what goes on in their office is not a part of it.
Bayohne, Grekumah and all the other reps, on behalf of all of us who appreciate what you guys do day in and day out, I apologize for the rudeness of the others here who do not seem to appreciate it, and thank you for your hard work. Please keep up the good efforts! Know that not all of us who read the forums have time to respond each day, and those who look forward to the community posts far outnumber the trolls in the frontlines (pun intended). =)
I've been getting text messages from my friends this morning who where asking about the free weekend and why they can't login. I think this information needs to be posted in more locations, I had to come here to find out that it has been delayed.
Hopefully the delay won't be long, and old players will be able to check out the updates and hopefully re-sub soon. :)
Regardless of why there is a delay there should always be notice of the subject to change, it is the professional action (or no announcement should have been made yet).
That said- for our English reps, being an outpost of information from the Japanese side, I'm sure means they'd like to give information but to what information they know yet or are allowed to share is entirely different.
Reps are the friends stuck between two love birds going through a perpetual breakup. Must love and shoot the messengers, else the dynamic just isn't insane and we cant have that ^^.
Also, hello everyone :)
That sucks, had my girlfriend convinced to come back and try the game after quitting when 2.2 came out. Hopefully she'll come back when the campaign happens!
You people having a go at complainers seem to be under the impression people are annoyed that they can't play. That's not the issue at all, the issue is that square didn't say a word about it being delayed until someone asked about it. People are annoyed about squares lack of communication. Yes they said the dates could be changed but they didn't say they would change it and not say a word. Even now there is still no official announcement that it has been delayed. They left it until last minute to say something and even then it was only because someone asked about it. There is nothing wrong with being annoyed by a lack of communication.
I dont get why people are complaining about other forumers.
Fact is Fact. The campaign is to start on July 11. Today is July 11. I wanted to participate in the Welcome Back Campaign that it was advertised to be on July 11 which can be subject change. I didnt expect "Date subject to change" = we will tell you after the fact cause we didnt feel like talking about.
I didnt expect on the day that I going to sign up is the same day they changed the date. This is basically a trick/fraud of SE to get people back to the game and "accidentally" resub then tell them "oh sorry, we forgot to tell you we changed the date".
For those that dont know how the last Welcome Back Campaign, you have to resub to participate.

Anyways, I recently unsubbed and would like to participate in the Campaign but now I may not even consider resubbing. You may not care, but if others like me were waiting for this Campaign and do not resub because of this trickery then thats money lost to SE.
You guys, they dont need a welcome back campaign, myself and many others paid to come back just for patch 2.3
They did, apparently you guys are too hyped and not paying attention:

Are you having hard time undertand meaning "Campaign dates are subject to changes"?
Perhaps it was my wording but this was not what I meant. I meant that if they do change, as they said it is subject to change- then they need to notify that subject which is changing :P.
They need to keep people updated, the day of is not well updated (/day before). It is not professional to do otherwise. Not that I'm condemning SE for this one thing, they have covered themselves in truth saying it may change.
"Can you do that?"
"Yea, unless I get busy"
The day of the action comes, you didn't do it cause you were busy.
"Why didn't you do it?"
"I was busy"
"At least tell me first!"
In this situation obviously the person is covered by the truth they've put forward, however the professional and polite action is to say the action is no longer on.
Also thanks for being rude, thats awesome :)
All I see is cryyyyyy babiesssssssss
This is exactly my problem.
I have a facebook Final Fantasy group, and we were all suppose to be making lalafell alts on either gilgamesh or odin and make a lalafell army. Even on their mains, they would have no need for the programs that are broken (Frontlines, Desynthesis).
Seriously needs to make an announcement. It should have been made atleast last night, before people started calling in off work for the weekend....
