Duty Roulette, 2.3 and the Daily Reset

As we all know, not to long from now is Patch 2.3 and the myth increases to roulettes. I find myself sitting in front of my house pondering an interesting question that didn't occur to me before: Should I do my roulettes today, or wait until the patch goes live.

I mean, sure I can get that myth for my next alexandrite map now.....OR i can wait until the myth buff occurs and knock them all out before the daily reset.

The only one I know I will do today 100% for sure is my expert for the Morbid Motivation daily quest, due to in part that the structure of the expert roulette is going to change to require 3 completely different dungeons and im not sure I will be able to 1 shot them all, then do my expert, THEN do my other roulettes....all within 4 hours. It leaves too much to chance imo.

The only thing i wonder is if the patch will cause a daily reset then the normal daily reset occurs, which would effectively lose me a shot at even more myth. Any Ideas?

Are you even going to care tomorrow?

You going to do it in that 4AM to 8AM window? If you are already capped it doesn't really matter.

Answer: Do your roulettes before the patch. There will be far more interesting things to do after the patch, so you'll probably be like "ugh, I want to do [new thing], but I have to knock out these roulettes..."

The first thing anyone waking up at 4AM worried about maximizing potential should do is probably their daily hunt thing (bonus points if you manage to clear the "weekly" one before the reset too).

Who cares...? It's far more efficient to join a myth pf group than to do roulettes. Roulettes are a handicap for people who can't find a group.

Ooooh, also an excellent point I hadn't thought of. Though, good luck completing the prequests in time (along with 17 other people in your server cluster), and then having the luck on a drop though. If it's anything like the last CT, very very few people will be done with the prequests in 4hr (though admittedly, they've fixed some of the FATE issues).

What if the maint. is extended? What then? You might as well do it now before you screw yourself over 1 extra Alexandrite.

No, loot resets 4 AM EST

CT loot resets like 4 hours after servers go up, but you prob have to do the quest to unlock CT hope 25 other people done it as well do CT get item.

Expert roulette is equal to alexandrite map.
If u are good sch, trials roulette myth/min is not inferior to elite bray myth sr. Even if its titan hm.
Solo expert/High lvl roulette can serve as relax spiritbonding run while still getting myth.

Too much mythflox and ur brain may flop.

Ct loot resets at the same time sol does. Thats 3 hours before the scheduled maintenance finish.

That depend if we need fate again. Keep in mind that coil 2 unlock was just talking to people, so who know. So when patxh hit the priority is elite hunt and ct2.

Someone can't do times, it resets at 1 AM PST and Maint ends 4 AM PST (7 AM EST)

correct me if I am wrong, but to run the high/expert roulette you normally need to have completed each dung in their category to run the roulette. Thus tomorrow you need to run all 3 new dungeons before you can run expert roulette with the increased rates. If your thinking high level, i'd wait but dont expect to get the expert in before reset as the chances of server issues in the am tomorrow may be higher.

Not everyone wants to wait around for a tank or a healer in a PF group, just to have someone leave 2 or 3 myth run in... also, wont be able to do myth runs and leave after second boss anymore. According to patch notes leaving within 10 minutes of the dungeon starting will now incur the 30 min penalty, and since it only takes maybe 5 minutes to reach the second boss, you might as well finish it.

That's correct. People won't be able to run expert tomorrow until they unlock and complete the three new dungeons.

This is an interesting point. I do wonder if they'll shift it to HM. Given everything else there will be to do tomorrow, running all 3 new dungeons then repeating one as a roulette seems like a lot for 1 alex map.

I was surprised after a couple days when the requirement was the same thing every day. It wouldn't surprise me if they switched it up, requiring different roulettes, dungeons, primals, and god forbid fates to get your daily.

There are also all the quests you have to do to unlock all the new dungeons, the more you get out of the way now the less you have to worry about when you go for dailies and all that :P. I can't wait for Ramuh and Sychus Tower :D, love my primals.

Server always crash within 1hr after a big patch, and goes into 1-2hr of emergency maintenance. You sure you wanna wait?

Defiantly can't deny that. But here's an odd ball thought. recall how almost all big patches finish little earlier then they should have? I think they keep tabs on how many clients have finished the update download after it goes live and if they have enough finished clients the open up the servers early so that we become the stress testers and the well that's a bug that QA didn't catch. Therefore pushing the rest of the maintenance after the player base stress test.

I forgot tonight was the starting of the patch. Logged in, went "holy @!*%" and then found my FC members on already did their roulette ex daily and didn't want to go again. So as PLD, decided what the hell, jumped in and got.....Bray!!!

With SMN, SCH and MNK. Told them we only have 20 minutes, so going to rush and will try not to screw up myself. Everyone agreed? Great!

Beat that s--- in 13 minutes! They were all on the BALL!!! I even had 7 minutes to handle my retainers. Yay! (Tho got scarey when my HP was around 300-1200 for about 30 seconds on that first pull....no deaths, no wipes. Boom!!!)

Yup. Totally. Happened after last patch, needed to do a dungeon hadn't done before allowed to do roulette. Wonder if the expert roulette will change for the daily Alex map to high level? Doubtful. Will just have to hunt until all dungeons are done by/over the weekend.

I know that it's like two hours after the servers have gone down now buuuuuut, you realize that with the changes to roulettes, adding in Ramuh for trials, and switching up expert and hard, you will now have to unlock ramuh and the three new expert dungeons and complete them all at least once to even be able to do those two roulettes after the patch, right? Sooooooo, I would think not enough time between when the servers go up and the reset to get all of that done. Just sayin'.

Uh, no... Roulettes give VARIETY so I don't want to bash my own brains out running the same one dungeon 4000 times. Less tomes per time spent, but at least I don't want to hang myself from the shower rod because of the mindless repetition. Plus alexandrite map for expert. You want to run brayflox a billion and one times over and over and over and over again, you go right ahead, but don't insult those who would rather do roulettes instead for a little variety in their lives.

Wrong. The patch notes say that is ONLY when doing a roulette with a party. It says nothing about premades going into a specific instance.

The exact quote is:

"When joining Duty Roulette as a party, abandoning the duty within the first 10 minutes will incur a penalty."
