1.0 flashbacks!

For those that don't know, Parlay was a minigame we HAD to complete in order to talk with some NPCs and gain their favour/ability to bargain with them. It was like this strange mix of Match, Connect-4 and Bejeweled - see Parley. Some people hated it cause the difficulty scaled with level and if you went into the parley on a lvl 50 you would get beaten easily. Some people hated it cause it made no sense and they thought it was a waste of time.

I know... I'm shaking my head here... :P

I'm more intrigued as to what the other minigames apparently coming in the patch will be like.

At least this time we wont be trying to stop Ifrit's summoning by talking about the rise of the price of cotton.

Those lizards couldn't believe how cheap I'm selling my cotton and bought it in bulk...with their fire crystals.

At least it's returned just as an optional mini-game and not a mandatory requirement.

People hated Parley in 1.0 because the animations were incredibly slow. Also, cause they refused to use their brain to learn a simple minigame like that.

And the idea of talking about mining/crafts/gladiators/whatever with someone to untemper them while a pile of really really angry amal'jaa otherwise ignored you (unless you attacked them) was ridiculous, as was the same thing in order to get information off NPCs.

I fear that's the least ridiculous of illogical decisions SE has made in regards to both story and game mechanics C_C;

It's a math game
You need to click on an item with 2 or more of the same icon in a row. The points of the same icons get add up. Your points increae the bar on the left, the points of your opponent decrease the bar. It need to be above 50% at the end to win.

I loved parley! Had always wished there was an option to play it outside of the one time only quests. Now we can ^_^*Gets ready to challenge her retainers to a hand!* Hmmm, better not play with the little one, her shifty look makes me think she'd cheat >_>

Actually in 1.0 they did end up adding NPCs in town that you could parley with & you'd get little rewards like mats for synthing or 1,000 gil. Nothing fancy but there was a way to parley out of the Main Story.

I also rather enjoyed parley, was like playing connect 4 & I just imagine my character is smooth talker.

Really? O.O I didn't know ;.; I totally would have hung out with those NPC's every day! Where/who were they?

There were a few scattered around the cities, but most were in quests.

I still remember one in the Miner story line. A bunch of miners got stuck in a cave-in inside Nanawa Mines, and instead of using your pickaxe to dig out, you just talked about shields and gil.

No instead you'd be talking to the sahagin about wailing and the rights of fishers to stop Leviathan's summoning :P
