i never had this before not until few weeks prior to 1.18 patch comes... but i've been having a lot of chat delay and is hard for me to communicate with anyone..
and im not sure if i post in the right place :|
just to inform i never had this issue since beta till 2 weeks ago... it started to happen.

It seems that only my Linkshell and Party chat is delay.
check what setting is your maximum pre-rendered frames higher would make your keyboard delay
Don't think this has to do with graphics settings. I think the problem is a bad connection to the chat-server.
i never have bad connection, and now is geting worst im now getting error every 20-40 minutes of gameplay! wth is this??? :| and im on fiber optic man!
This are the sorts of problems frequently fixed by nuking the preferences in your /Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV/
This is done by:
1.) Create a folder on your desktop
2.) Move everything in the above FF directory into the temp folder
3A.) If you do not mind resetting your key-bindings, widgets, chat colors, etc., jump to step 4.
3B.) If you have a lot of customizations to your UI, move your "users" folder back into the FF folder.
4.) Run the Final Fantasy Config program, and set all your graphics settings back to what they were at.
5.) See if that fixes the issues.

Is Tell also delayed?
nope. only linkshell and sometime party... .
nobody has any other solution?
How exactly does the delay look?
1. you type and the letters show slowly
2. the letters appear normally but when you hit enter it takes some time before you can see it in the log
3. you see it in the log right away but it takes long before others can see it
my linkshell chat and party chat that other's type come out delayed, is like i type no body reply but after a while or maybe an hour or so, the chat suddenly rose up a lot of previous chat that i couldn't see.
My message arrive fast, but other ppl message come in slow for me. I have to rely on Ventrilo everytime i log in to just chat away.
For me it's connecting to xxx.67.48.247:54992 two times with local ports 3993 and 3994. My guess is that something is delaying the incoming transmissions (or completely blocking them and then suddenly releasing it). Maybe an ISP problem, the router or something on your machine.
