SO i have been out of the game for 4 months due to family stuff. I want to get back into the game but it seems like there is so much more stuff now. when I left I had all my AF2 gear and my +1 weapon.
I am sure all my stuff is now outdated but where to I begin when I come back? Any suggestions will help. what should I be farming, whats the best gear these days, what dungeons are good to run, what items should be trying to get, etc. Thanks

Probably best to just start building up soldiery for the next week or so till the new patch hits. With CT2 you'll have an easier time gearing up your armor while you work to unlock coil 2 if you haven't already. Save your tomes and see what the new patch brings. Will likely be the safest path so you aren't wasting time/resources now. After the patch i believe Levi will be unlocked from the other 3 primals so weapons should be easier. Accessories drop from the Mog extreme and the new Ramuh so you have more options.

Don't listen to them. The last 4 mths Lalafells have taken over the servers everywhere.
They are getting all the other races to farm soldiery and myth tomes for them.
Some decided to side with their "overlord" and get returning players to do stuff so as to line the pockets with gil.
Watch who you are talking to. They might be moles. -

If you're looking to do so there are three further upgrades to relics. Atma requires a grind to obtain 12 unique stone from fates. the quest begins with Gerolt, the man who refurbished your relic. After you upgrade to Atma you work towards Animus which requires books to increase stats. These books have objectives to complete and they cost 1500 myth a piece. I recommend just work on capping Solidery Tomes for the next two weeks because in 2.5 weeks 2.3 is landing. As the other guy said, Titan and Ifrit EX will no longer be required to access Levi EX, King Moogle EX, and Ramuh EX. So, with Levi EX you have chances of a iLvl 95 Weapon dropping which can be upgraded to an iLvl 100 Weapon.

Don't fall for the Relic upgrade scam! It is a plan laid out since day 1. The plan is to make ppl do FATES in hopes of drops that never existed. Once the ppl got too much GC seals, they will use them to buy Coke, Peacock ores, etc Mats to sell in the market.
The plan is to get the ppl to flood the markets with mats, as to push the prices down. Then the Lalafells and their pets will buy it up at lower prices! Mark my words there will probably be new recipes requiring those mats, then they will sell all at insane prices!
So buy Venture coins you say? Don't, the whole retainer venture is a scam! You give the coins to your retainers, they will just give you random seaweed and meat from questionable sources. Sometimes, equipment and housing items which are probably stolen.
Look at the current Novus upgrade and the materia market. They have their corrupt little hands all over it. -
