how to get shards from crystals?

I just got started weaving and I found myself running out of lightning shards pretty quick. It seems like most ways to farm shards work through farming crystals, but I have no idea how to turn these back into shards so I can use them in crafting.

So, how can I get shards from crystals?

There's no way to convert shards => crystals => clusters or clusters => crystals => shards at this time

It'd be a nice QoL thing to have though

Then there is no way to farm shards aside from doing leves?

You can't get Shards from Crystals so what I would recommend for to do is either buy the shards or gather them yourself. Level up a Botanist to LV20 and you should get a ward that should increase your Lightning Shards gain by 2 for each strike for the low price of 400 GP.

You'd have to go out and gather them from low level mining or botany nodes. Get both Miner and Botanist to level 20 first so you have access to all 6 of the ward abilities which will help gathering the shards

Take up mining and get grinding. As an armorer I'm always running out of ice shards, or look on the market board for them.

Both Miner and Botanist low level gathering (i.e 5 or 10) will get you Crystal Shards, based on the region you're in.

Once you have gotten the first one, you can always send your Retainer out to get more, as a Venture.

They're level 1. As soon as you unlock Miner or Botanist you can start gathering them. (Then, as a couple other people have mentioned, at level 20 there are skills that help with getting them slightly quicker.)

Sorry, perhaps my post wasn't clear - and for that I apologise.

The gathering points are levels 5 and 10. I am not sure if the level 15 gathering points have Crystal Shards in them. From experience, I don't recall that they do.

You are correct that in order to extract a Crystal Shard from a level 5 gathering point, you only need to be on par with the level of the item, which in this case is 1.
