2.28, 2.3, and 2.4 - Opinions?

Now that I am caught up with writing the articles related to FFXIV, now is the time to ask for opinions for the next article. The next article will involve the patches 2.28, 2.3, and 2.4. Some questions to consider answering,

How would you rate patch 2.28? What do you like most about it? What do you like least about it? Are there any changes you would like to have reverted? How is Novus treating you?

What are you looking forward to most in 2.3? What do you think of the gear that is previewed? What are your thoughts on the trailer? The hunts? What monsters would you like to see in future hunts? How excited are you for CT2? What about chocobo raising? Do you have plans to participate in it? Private rooms, do you want? Do you have any secret parties planned in your room?

2.4. Ninja. Rogue. Discuss. What about the Eternal Bonding system? Do you have any speculations as to what will be included in the patch? Looking forward to Shiva?

The roulette changes in 2.28 have really helped my lazy mates get the mythology they needed for their animus now that I drag them to do the roulettes each day. I like the Novus line, gave a use for Materia/Gil and the daily quest gives you a steady flow of alexandrites which is always better than a % chance of obtaining one.

2.3 Has so much being brought in i will be like a little kid at Christmas time, looking forward to gearing alts in CT2, Chocobo raising (colour choice? yes please!) Daily/Weekly Hunt providing more ALexandrite and sand/oil of time, Item desynthesis (finally my hoarding pays off) and so much more. As i was watching the trailer i was excited about everything i saw really looking forward to it :D

2.4 Rogue/Ninja love that new class/job is being introduced in a patch rather than expansion, gives me hope for more of the classic Final Fantasy jobs. A special mount for partaking in an Eternal Bond now all i have to do is find that special someone to bond with (could take a while i'm quite demanding lol). Shiva, what can I say one of the most well known summons in Final Fantasy history so looking forward to her story :)

all in all I love the way this game is going and can't wait for more installments

The most interested me in 2.3 is Jobs balance

I looking forward to how SE gonna nerf or buff DPS (Hopefully not just nerf)

However, still no clue how they gonna roll out yet

I love the new quests, but I hate virtually everything related to the zodiac weapons. It's like they intentionally designed it to not only be unpleasant, but as mind-numbingly grindy as possible purely to satisfy a minority of players who enjoy doing the same 2 actions for the entire duration of their play time.

2.3, I'm most interested in the continuation of the story missions and more Hildebrand. Frontlines is really a non-event as far as I'm concerned since no amount of window dressing can fix the critical issues plaguing PvP.

2.4, Rogue... gimme. Granted everyone and their mothers will be playing this class, but who am I to fight the tide? I'm just as excited about this new class as I was when I first stepped into Eorzea, so it'll be interesting to see if it lives up to expectations.

I Like Novus...but....dat Materia thing....uh-uh.
2.28 had lots of QoL stuff, which is nice.

Sightseeing thing was a big disappointment. Like a FC member said: you kind of need the stars to align. it would have been ok, if you didn't have to jump up on stupid places, and stand around for hours, doing nothing, and waiting for the right weather.

PVP stuff....great to be able to use all skills, kind of bleh, that you're restricted to how many pvp skills you can use, as with cross-class skills. Would need to remove them every time you wanna swap around jobs; but still better than before.

nothing that i disliked...

Most of the stuff from 2.3 trailers, look nice. and hopefully there's plenty more QoL stuff.
I'm kind of dreading all the new vanity sets also...already full inv/retainers QQ.
Hopefully hunts are a bit more like Map-Chimera, where you NEED to have a pt. If you can solo hunts, it would suck...but i'm sure there's some low-end marks, that you can solo, and that's fine i guess; but i hope there's plenty of 8-man Hunts.

For 2.4 they might remove 2nd coil lock-out, and add echo? and then in 2.5, add 3rd coil.
I think XIV iteration of Shiva...looks a bit bland...i like FFX Shiva, the most. But either way, we're getting new zones also? so that's nice anyway.

I'll rush-cap Ninja! and....i was planning to make Novus for it, but dunno...seems to bothersome, since i can just buy sol wep, and get sand from CT, and voila, 110 wep. By that time i might already have T9 on farm too, so both sol and novus, will be kind of meh. And if they remove coil-lock, can just farm for HA stuff.

2.28 was a great overall QoL patch. Self-repairing past 100% was probably single-handedly the best change for that patch. I can't think of anything offhand I disliked about it. I JUST got my Novus quest last night. I'm in no particular rush to get it done since I already have an i110 weapon and my group is getting closer to getting T9 down, and I feel I'll get the High Allagan weapon before I get a Novus. I'll still do my daily Expert just to accumulate the Alexandrite and work on it at my own pace, same as I've treated the Atma and Animus.

2.3 has me really excited. Probably looking forward most to the continued main story and Crystal Tower story arcs. I feel like the main story is really about to get rolling now, and I hope with CT we learn a bit more about the Allagan civilization. All the other little extra stuff is nice too: chocobo raising, desynthesis, (this one is particularly intriguing) the Hunts, (look forward to doing these with FC members) and the Ixal beast quests. I plan to try out Frontline as well, and may consider a GC change if necessary to group up with friends while doing it.

I think I'm going to forego the private rooms and just wait for personal housing to be released. They said at E3 that they plan to release it before 2.4 so it should only be a couple months at most after 2.3 launches that we should hopefully have that option. I don't want to decorate a room with rare items only to have to remake them again when I get my own pad.

2.4. We still don't have much info on this. We know there will be a main story continuation and new Coil story. Maybe Shiva will make her appearance? Definitely going to try out Rogue/Ninja since I've already maxed out my levels on my other classes, so it will be fun to learn a new class.

I'm really just interested in the story. Anything else is just a bonus for me. Oh and Hidibrand. I can't wait for that to continue.

How would you rate patch 2.28? 1/10 - it would have better use of time to just get 2.3 out faster.
What do you like most about it? The only thing added new was the alex maps, which are fun.
What do you like least about it? Stated in an earlier interview that Novus wasn't supposed to revolve around myth/fates, and in 2.8 it does
Are there any changes you would like to have reverted? No Alex from fates
How is Novus treating you? what novus I have done over 300 fates and 0 alex while others have done 300 fates with 10+ alex... until this week I was farming 1.2k myth a day but it's the same things since patch 2.2(really 2.1 if the older dungeons dropped enough myth to be worth doing)

What are you looking forward to most in 2.3? CT for story, Hunts I am looking forward to a heck of a lot.
What do you think of the gear that is previewed? a cool looking glamour set if you are a fan of ff3; the gear they glanced in the videos but didn't really show off look really good though.
What are your thoughts on the trailer? Well built kudos to who put it together.
The hunts? What monsters would you like to see in future hunts? Super excited for this, loved it in 12, and 11.
How excited are you for CT2? Excited for the dungeon as it looks challenging and fun, but not excited for the rewards being targeted only for a select few players.
What about chocobo raising? Do you have plans to participate in it? Heck yes I raised a 7th generation in choco in 11 before they updated and made it easy.
Private rooms, do you want? Do you have any secret parties planned in your room? My personal preference(which doesn't matter) is for a private house, however I know many players will do amazing things with these rooms and I can't wait to see what they do so I am still excited for it.

2.4. Ninja. Rogue. Discuss. What about the Eternal Bonding system? Super excited hopefully it will help fix dungeon que time since on my server ranged dps have an average, average wait time of 15+min. while physical dps have an average, average wait time of less then 5 min. I know i'll being playing ninja at first.
Do you have any speculations as to what will be included in the patch? Looking forward to Shiva? looking forward to shiva, 2.4 will see more content then 2.2 and with the new systems being added in 2.3 it will be easier for them to add more content then it was in the past so 2.3 should really help future patches be much stronger in providing things to do. I'm excited for it.

nobody mentioned the best thing to happen with 2.28,.... "auto skip Cut-scene function"

since I don't have the link for it anymore I cringe saying it. The original progression chart of the FF14 team at launch had ramuh and shivah slated for 2.3.(however many things that are now present/on the way were never talked about at all at the time, novus/hunts/golden saucer.

Only thing I'm looking forward to is Ninja! I've been waiting on that class ever since I saw the fuma outfit in CT. Hopefully both Ramuh and Shiva are more challenging than Titan Ex, as I thought Leviathan and Mog Ex were a little easy compared to Titan Ex.

Hunts look like they can be fun, at least the Elite hunts. Though we will be able to acquire Sands,Oil, gear, and alexandrite from them, I fear the cost may be so that it takes what feels like forever for a single purchase, especially since elite hunts are only weekly. Based off of screenshots shown by SE, the daily hunts look like no type of challenge, so not too excited about the daily hunts.

I almost forgot; I'm especially excited to see changes to all the jobs in 2.3. How much stronger will BLM become in single-target? How much weaker will it become in AoE to balance out the single-target buff? What abilities will be getting changed? How will the other classes get rebalanced? Can't wait to see these changes!

not saying they didn't, however when Shiva was asked about at the E3 Yoshi-P said Shiva's story would start with version 2.3 but would be a long story leading up to her

I've just now got around to starting my Relic quest, so I have no opinion regarding Novus quite yet (other than being a decent way to farm up Grand Company seals, I guess). I do sympathize with people getting bad luck with RNG, sometimes I think maybe a very slight increase to the drop rate would help.

Once the patch comes out, I will probably try everything out that I can (I'm not quite as caught up as others yet, even in my own FC). I liked what I saw in the trailer, mentally commented how the environments in Syrcus (CT2) looked. I'm interested in the introduction of Ramuh and Shiva, and, of course, more Hildebrand (even though I didn't like him at first). I will certainly try out chocobo raising, unless they've put it behind some form of gating (meaning requiring level 10). I'll check out private rooms if it doesn't cost too much.

I'm looking forward to trying out Rogue/Ninja. Eternal bonding doesn't interest me at all, even from a role-playing perspective.

2.3 still waiting for ramuh OST which is so AWESOME to the max!

Well I will start of buy saying during E3 they said Shiva will not be in 2.4. So question is what side primal will be brought in for 2.4 that they have not showed us yet since there game plan is 1 new primal every patch (well maybe not primal but trial).

2.28 everything was a well added upgrade apart from the removal of being able to repair OTHER players gear! As everyone in my FC only currently focus on mastering 1 craft its still a bit of a pain at least I can pimp my axe with good repairs on blacksmith, Never mind my Ifrit axe i use for fun is goldsmith.

2.3 So far so good but whats the plans with the zodiac weapon as the saga is meant to go further in 2.3, Things I would like to know is what is the gear level of the gear given from daily hunts as its planned for ilvl 90 players to start with. When will the tome for weapon drop from CT is it day 1 or a few weeks in? Will we get to Ishgard we are now getting teased with it so it might only be story related for this patch, So its were to start first when 2.3 comes out. Chocobo Raising will be fun we already have dedicated FC members to help rank up every ones birds to the max!

2.4 All we know is the new class and job but will we see a second job of rouge from the start? Am hoping so cause I don't fancy doing DF and just have a party of 5 ninjas in my CT group. As I said early I wonder what primal will show up here?

I absolutely love the change where you can view an outfit together. I love making cute outfits so being able to preview it instead of guessing if it'll look good or not I really appreciate. I also am grateful for the ability to skip cutscenes, and a lot of the little changes they made to improve the quality of the game and the quality of life changes. I like when games pay attention to the little things instead of always just releasing what's the "next big thing".

I absolutely despise Novus and the entire Zodiac line, I'm sure the next step will be ten times worse than Novus because Yoshi loves to torture us with this ridiculous quest even though High Allaghan surpasses it and doesn't require nearly as much running around and grinding for no reason. It requires actually learning things instead of being a grind fest. I'm guessing the Zodiac line was meant to be like that to discourage people from taking the easy way out but honestly I have no regrets about choosing to never make a Novus.

I would revert adding materia to Novus as it's driven their prices into insanity, and if anyone actually wants to seriously get one you're SOL unless you're super rich or super lucky.

Definitely the cute little sleepwear they showed in the trailer. I want to use it for Monk or tank or archer or something (haven't decided) it'd be so cute to be dressed so adorably and slice their faces off with a giant axe <3 Though I'm terrified the Miqote version wont be as cute as the Lalafel one they showed and I HOPE my fears are unfounded.

I have no idea what the deal is with the gear I am curious but I'm afraid it'll just be obsolete like so much gear in this game as you progress. Especially if Ramuh ends up being i100 weps, it'll make Levi a waste of time. (Since those stupid mirrors NEVER drop)

After spending a ridiculous amount of time getting my choco leveled up only to find they are going to introduce an easy to use system feels a bit like a slap in the face. Why didn't they do it sooner? Why now? Why make chocobos so freaking hard to level up? Like seriously they need TONS of exp x.x

I cant wait for Shiva but I seriously hope they use a different model for her than they've used in the past. I"m hoping for a feared ice queen that is focused more on her badassery than her... assets >.>

1.xx was rebuilt in 2 years time.
The 1st expansion which has been in the works for a while. OMG it's going to be almost as big as 2.0

2.28 had the wonderful distraction for me that is the Sightseeing Log what I am still going through to get those finnicky jumps and elusive time/weather combinations what never really seem to happen.
The auto skip for CS was a great addition as was the party duty finder.

2.3 The entire community has taken up The Hunt by storm although I myself have not taken it up to any extent other than the daily hunts the competition is fierce for all the ranks of hunt at least here everyone can take part and gain something from it.
With the new dungeons added I am glad the rewards have been split to keep people in the party until the end, if only they weren't all doing The Hunt and Syrcus Tower. I particularly enjoyed Tam-Tara although even more so after reading all the logs in the dungeon although I now feel somewhat responsible for this incident there. >.>
Hildibrand was hilarious as always and unexpectedly so with the Moogle Porter quests, here's looking at you Hunberct Longhaft!

2.4 Although we don't have a lot of information on this patch as 2.3 has pretty much just launched there is at least a little information now that we can at least comment on.
I know a lot of people are looking forward to this one for two things, Rogue and Ninja.
I can see Duty Finder crying out for Tanks and Healers as always and you could expect the queue times to be excessive as on certain servers a lot of players have most if not all of the combat classes at level 50 already myself included.
I myself am looking forward to the continuation of the Hildibrand and Main scenarios as I am particularly enjoying both.

As more information trickles in i'm sure there should be plenty about for us to get excited about!

in the future you can hit edit on your original post to bipass the character limit and on top of that save yourself in post count which thanks to silly limitations they have it based on the level of your character in game rather than the age of your account which would have made more sense
