Important PLD skills

Just finally unlocked the PLD job so looking ahead to the future, I'm wanting to know what the best skills to have on my cross-bar will be for dungeon runs and what not.

I play on PS4 so my keyboard is only for typing, which means I have 16 slots for skills and abilities. I all ready know I need to continue my CON to 34 so I can have Stoneskin, but what else would be useful to fill the other 15 slots?

No, that's wrong. You don't have 16 slots in your hotbar. You have 16 slots in each hotbar. The R1 button will switch between your Cross Hotbars, of which I believe you have four.

There's no need to abandon any skills. They'll all fit.

Well I know of that lol, but I'm sure the last thing I want to do is switch between hotbars in the heat of battle, so I figured there would be 16 skills to have right off hand, there on the first set. Going by my XI days, I can all ready guess what I'd want is, Fast Blade, Savage Blade, (third one who's name I blank on) for hate generation, Cure for more hate generation, Stoneskin for added defense, Rampart, ability that makes cure potency better (again blanking but its a GLD one), maybe Shield Swipe, Shield Lob, Shield bash...So that's 10 I would all ready believe is worth having right on the spot.

I don't know that you would really have much time to be casting cure for threat generation. Flash for sure, and the damage skills yes. Your stun, of course. Cure would be maybe on a far away button in case you absolutely can't live without it rather than a go-to spell.

Okay, then let's see if we can come up with 16. I'll consider cross class skills as if you can use all of them at once instead of just five.

Savage Blade(Enmity 2)
Riot Blade(MP Gain)
Rage of Halone(Enmity 3)
Circle of Skorn(AOE Off GCD Skill)
Spirits Within(Off GCD Skill; Silences)
Shield Lob(Start fights)
Shield Bash(Stun)
Shield Swipe(TP Saving)
Flash(AOE Hate)
Rampart(-20% damage)
Convalescence(+20% healing)
Fight or Flight(+30% damage)
Foresight(+20% Defense)
Bulwark(+60% block chance)
Sentinel(-40% damage)

Bar 2

Sword Oath(DPS Stance)
Shield Oath(Tank Stance; Don't need quick access to stances because they're permanently on until you die)
Awareness(Situational cooldown, immunity to critical hits)
Stoneskin(3 second cast time; situational because you'll often be interrupted during the cast)
Raise(Can't use in battle, but nice to have sometimes outside of it)
Fracture(DOT, won't be using constantly.)
Tempered Will(Situational; removes bind and heavy and prevents knockback/draw in)
Cover(Situational; absorbs physical damage for a party member)
Hallowed Ground(Situational; 10 seconds of invincibility from most attacks)
Cure(The last thing you want to be doing is casting cure on yourself. If that's ever necessary, you've already lost)
Protect(Your healer will already have it, but can be nice for soloing)
Skull Sunder(No point in ever having)
Mercy Stroke(Situational; only usable when an enemy is below 20% health)

And, I think that covers every skill a Paladin can currently use!

You can have easily fast access to 32 slots.

You can set a cross bar that appears doing Hold R2 then L2 and Hold L2 then R2
By default this option is not active.

@ Donjon : Just for information :) PS4 does have a lot more than 4 cross bars. 8 cross bars for starters but we can set more and even horizontal/vertical hotbars. I think we have same number as for PC

I agree fully, I think I've been waiting my whole life for a good console mmorpg and this is it easily, I play ps4 and the ui is second to none, super deep.

You really need to use that many bars? As PLD, I only have 2 that I actually NEED to use. K.I.S.S. works wonders as PLD is so vanilla in terms of "combos."

As far as Cross-class skills: Stoneskin, Bloodbath, Protect, Foresight and… I can't remember the fifth.

I miss the old macro palette system of XI. Don't get me wrong, I like the way they handled the interface for the most part but I miss being able to toggle the buttons and have them go away again when I've selected something. That functionality just never got recreated here. I've ended up playing exclusively on keyboard and mouse for content and using controller for laying back\gathering\etc.
