They would start looping BGMS for future dungeons, but they said they wouldn't change the music of dungeons prior to the 2.2 patch
All of the hard-mode dungeon music is re purposed music from the original FFXIV (1.23's) soundtrack;
Original Dungeon Theme (Dual-Layered Battle Track for Brayflox/Haukke/Copperbell)
Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrJclbenpCA#t=34
La Noscea [Leves/Area Battles]
Mor Dhona [Area Battles]
Chocobo Escort
Behest Boss
(If I can remember which piece of music matches which dungeon I'll edit it in later)
You could, if you wanted to, make your own loop and play that over the music by muting BGM. Granted, that's going to extremes, but I'd dearly love to play the Easter theme over some dungeon music (or all the time) if I could.
Instance of music, original track name, and where I remember hearing it if I did back in 1.0.
Brayflox/Haukke/Copperbell Hard Theme - The Dark's Embrace ( Dzameal Darkhold Theme)
Brayflox/Haukke/Copperbell Hard Encounter Theme - The Dark's Kiss
Brayflox Hard Final Boss - Fury
1st and Second Bosses of Halatali Hard, Brayflox and Amdapor City - Phantoms on the Lake (loop of the first minute and a half)
Amdapor City Final Boss - Wrath of the Eikons (Story Quest)
Halatali Hard Dungeon Theme - Birds of a Feather
Halatali Hard Last Arena Fight - Beneath Bloodied Banners (Levequest Music)
Pharos BGM would get old really fast, though Amdapor and WP have BGM that would sound great if you loop them.
Looping the songs actually works quite well with many of the dungeons...but others not so much. It would require a bit of work redoing many of the songs to either be more subtle or be quite a bit longer (Mun-Tuy Cellars, for example, is only 59 seconds long).
That being said, I would love to see it done.
I believe the response to looping dungeon themes before 2.2 was "No."
Yeah, I agree. It seems like it would be nice in concept, having the intro music loop simply loop would ruin it for you. I can't help but remember the living hell that was the Monster Plantation ride at Six Flags where the boats got stuck and for 30 min we sat there listening to 'You're invited, to a picnic, at the picnic, humans are allowed!' Ahh make it stop! I'm hearing that song in my head again make it stop!
If the Pharos song had a continuation rather than a loop however that would be fine. But when it comes to the same thing repeating over and over with no variation to make it interesting, that's something the community here just won't stand for. Ok really bad example, that one.
I always wished that Pharos Sirius' theme played in a way that changed after every boss. Start would be the singing, after first boss it would be music, after second boss we hear the humming, after Tyrant complete silence and then on Siren, the battle sounding part of the song plays (extended and three minutes long before looping again. That would have been a delight). This is what you meant by continuation or something, right?
You negate overall looping music. Already are a number of duties with it and seems community is not so much raged about.
Don't know how many times you done Pharos, but too much times there is just plain silence, and background music is exactly intended to fill that silence. Background is background and looping is fine, it is not the main theme you want listen with your portable mp3.
Then, even after nerf it seems a good number of players ragequit it at start, so they really doesn't have to care at all about its bgm music.
Right- something like that would make sense. It wouldn't have to cut to dead silence, but having it transition to refrains that can loop without it being so obvious as background music, and could transition based on progress, would keep it from getting old. They probably could have the right elements present within the original composition to replay some as background music without it being so overt. I think the reason people aren't as sick of this music as they are the rest, they haven't had to listen to it over and over. Easy theory to test- someone who wants it to loop in it's current form could record it with an app at the beginning and then play it back with looping on the rest of the dungeon.
I think whether someone agrees with the above or not probably has a high correlation with how they'd answer this question- do you pick up on certain looping background elements in cities that especially annoy you because you've unintentionally learned the pattern? I can name at least 5 things that annoy me offhand- like in Gridania markets you have the annoying make Lalafell going "Hyuk Hyuk... hey!!!", and the female Mi'Qote "Hahahahaha!" anime chick laugh which she kind of is I suppose, and this really special ed sounding creature that goes "Great!!!" Any now in Mor Dhona there's this lady from Kenosha Wisconson who says "Nooo-OOOO!" every minute or so, and this other guy who's "Get outta here!"
If they ever offer Retainer Assassination ventures, my retainer is coming after those guys first.
