Yup, this is what I took away from the trailer.

Raubhan probably forgot to feed her cracker after letting her perch on his shoulder.

Whoever made her cry needs to get taken out! :C

In all seriousness, I do hope it's not something serious like Raubhan dying... D: Guess we'll see...

Probably has to do with the Syndicate and war that was mentioned at the end of 2.2's story.

It could also be possible that The Amall'ja had invaded and subsequently tempered Ul'Dah.
And it's the Syndicate leading the charge.

What if the reason for Nanamo crying is because Ul'Dah has been invaded by the Amal'ja. The invaders summoned Ifrit in the middle of the city and Nanamo realized that Ul'Dah will be changed to a therocracy...with her retaining the throne.

Or to put it bluntly She knows that Ifrit has tempered her and most of the city.

The scene in question is her pleading with ether Raubaun or the PC to leave Ul'dah before she tempers or kills them respectably.

This is how I saw it as well. The way she runs towards the camera with her arms out makes it look like she's crying with relief, not grief.

She realized that the Immortal Flames are nothing more than a bunch of lolicons.

She could be coming to hug us after receiving some bad news. I think if the Syndicate removed her from power, Ul'dah would enter a civil war. Raubahn is in command of the Flames, he could sick them on the Torches. Also, she has the love and support of the people. They would prolly take up arms against the threat to her (hopefully).

She looks like she's on some balcony. Maybe Raubahn locked her inside there to handle some threat to the city. He walks in, she sees him safe, and runs to hug him.

As others have said, whoever made her cry tears of sorrow will die. I'm a flamer and from UD so it's personal when she's sad like that. She's one of my favorite characters.

Also I don't think she will have been removed from power by the syndicate, they basically already run Ul'dah Nanamo is more there to show everyone we have a single leader. Remember when we are trying to allow the Domans to seek asylum, Nanamo wanted to allow them, but the majority of the Syndicate didn't allow it, therefore they couldn't, Nanamo is more a poster leader than having any actual power.

I think suicide would probably make things worse. Even if you do survive the parlor trick, you'd prolly be unarmed and STILL liable to drive Nanamo to tears.
