Inventory space, how do you Manage it?

Ok, Consider this a noob question, but I constantly have a full inventory, and usually never have room for any extra stuff I loot while I kill stuff and gather. I was wondering if any experts could give me advice on how you keep tabs on your inventory.

I only carry around stuff I'm gonna need or stuff I can stack usually, like my equipment + alternate equipment and the stuff I get from mining.
Everything else is stored in my retainers:)
Things I know I won't need are either getting sold or thrown away.

Although..I'm kind of at a loss on how to do it in the future.
Sooo many drops from the monsters now o,o

yeah, the monster drops are what bogg up my inventory space... I guess I have to pay shops consistent visits every time I enter a city to sell all my junk.

Also, I guess I could store all my extra weapons with my retainer. Thanks for the advice Meo!

1. Ranking up all the classes you are interested in at the same time helps a little in my case. I don't have to hold a lot of armor to be decently optimal.
2. Using general purpose (i.e. for all crafters, for all mages) gear also trades a little performance for space.
3. Use up all the +1/+2/+3 materials first chance you get.

That said, I am also having inventory issues haha...

yeah, I figured so.. there is just too much useless stuff that drops off monsters... but I did notice the pouch slot in the gear menu.... does that mean we could expand our inventory space with an item?

I don't horde everything.

Additionally, as a crafter I have to determine what is the best state to leave my stuff. Is it as base mats, or should I synth those 3 mats into 1 thing to conserve the two spaces? Stuff like that.

or we could ask for remote inventory ? hey I like this idea, remote chocobo or remote retainer

There is very little "useless junk" in this game. What you may find though is that most of it is not useful to you.

Keep or give to your retainer what you plan on actually using and otherwise don't be afraid to toss out things. (eg: keep cotton bolls if you're planning on levelling weaver, otherwise sell them to an NPC shop)

I NPC everything I don't want pretty much every time I'm in town, keeps my invent down a bit. Also that 'useless junk' that drops of mobs is currently how I am affording my gear repairs XD

Yeah basicaly i just carry around usefull stuff like for example 30 pieces of gear fo the diferent jobs im lvling atm, and som items and crafting stuff, it occupys aroung 50% of inventory leaving half for drops, at the end of the day i just dump everything on my 2 retainers, 1 for gear and 1 for every other type of item, and something always selling on the markets
But honestly it feels like a really messy system special if u wanna sell old gear and have to waste time repairing everyting, sometimes i just npc stuff and lose money -_-

I really don't understand how people end up with inventory problems....

I am a person who:
- Plays multiple classes with some shared gear, but also several pieces unique to one class
- Maintains a plethora of materials useful for at least 3 different crafts
- Keeps U/U stuff, beastmen currency, and other stuff that is mostly just for collecting
- Keeps some +3 mats I know will be useful later
- Takes the time to sell things like spare gear in wards
- Has millions upon millions of gil still

All this and I still have:
- One retainer who sits around 90/100 inventory at all times
- Another retainer who sits around 75/100 inventory at all times
- 60/100 inventory on my character (before venturing out of a town)

How in the unholy hells of Darkhold do you friggin fill up your inventory? Do people honestly save every scrap of rat feces that floats their way? VENDOR STUFF.

Only way i manage it is with the help of linkshell mates to help me transfer stuff to mules.

With a mailbox and my inv problems would be basically over.

I asked a retire friend for his ffxiv account. Then I use account to carry and transfer junks to mulers.
But even I have 1500 slots, I am at 1400+ items. LOL

Pretty easy if you're a multi-class crafter. +3 stuff accumulates quickly...not to mention items that will be useful for ranking up later on. I do all the crafts except Culinarian, so the problem is more acute...haha

Thats the reason my inv is full :P

Recently went through my inventory and realized....

Much of the crap I was saving no longer has any value for ranking up any class, and could easily be replaced from the wards or with a single synth.

Look at the stuff you are keeping. If it's an NQ version of an r8 synth that sells for 300 gil in the ward, then there's no need to waste inventory space on it.

Hope they make houses soon to dump all this stuff in, would be nice.

I Wish SE wud give us more invo room that will slove all the problems with invo space

possibly some pouches to expand our inventory upon equipping them?

+1 to either a mailbox or more inventory space!! Preferably both!

How about a third retainer? We should get one from each city state.

Mailbox is needed.... being able to send stuff out is becoming more in demand :P
