New player LF Help

Good day,

Im a new player (played in the first week of release) returning to FF XIV.
Whats seen as a good server to start on?
Whats the current state of game? Still active?

How about classes? ive seen DPS Have a hard time finding end game groups? or atleast it takes a long time?
How about tank / healer classes? Have it a bit easier?

I play european times 18.00 GMT+1 till 24.00 GMT +1.
Any Free Companys (guilds i believe??) recruiting a noob? xD

If you are a European player, the Ragnarok server is a pretty good server. It's pretty active, and there are always people online.

To answer your questions:

DPS classes have the hardesy time finding a group for end game content on the Duty Finder because DPS is the most common type of class. There are only three Healer classes (White Mage, Conjurer and Scholar), and I believe the same with Tank (Marauder, Paladin, Warrior). That being said, if you queue up with someone that is playing either a Tank or a Healer class, the queues go much quicker. It also depends on whether you're talking a Light Party Duty (4 players), Heavy Party Duty (8 Players), or a Raid/Alliance (32 Players).

I am a party of a small friendly Free Company called "Ren Geki" on Ragnarok, and we'd be happy to accept new members, even new players. :D

I would make a character on Ragnarok, but its restricted so i cant make any new char there :(

Thanks for info, was leaning towards gladiator class (not sure what that will be at the class change).
I like tanking, gives the feeling of being of somewhat important.. and any other mmo i've played I was a tank.

im currently sitting on the Lich server, had an old level 17 char there, no idea how population is there.. but will see haha

Maybe World Transfer will become available at some point, and you'll be able to switch?

If you want to make a character on restricted server, make it early in the morning. Always works. People are too quick to recommend world transfer. It will have same restrictions as character creation and make you spend money needlessly...

Personally I like Moogle (EU) server :)

Conjurer and White Mage are the same thing (as conjurer turns into white mage). The same goes for Marauder turning into Warrior. Also, Gladiator is also a tank class, but turns into Paladin. As those pairs share xp totals, you can't really use them as examples for job variety.

My point was that they were separate classes that you can queue into the Duty Finder with.

Most of the classes will follow the same ruling with their Job, with the exception of Arcanist which has either Summoner (DPS), or Scholar (Healer).

And I missed Gladiator, sorry. I thought there were 4, I wasn't sure though as I haven't played any of the Tank classes/jobs.

My point was that it's a moot point when it comes to the diversity of how many people are queuing. Folks with white mage will also have conjurer (and will probably only ever queue as white mage anyway), so it doesn't make much sense to say "There's this many healers and this many DPS..." when in practice there's less healer classes out there.

Back to topic. It would work best to play the class you want. Going by what you've said though, I think you will like the way tanking works in the game.

FFXIV boss fights are very mechanic-heavy, and the tank will often be responsible for directing and dodging aoes. As the tank, you'll definitely be in the spotlight a lot more. Some players like the responsibility and attention that comes from being the tank, others hate it. There's a reason many players don't play tanks at endgame, although they're willing to play dps and healer. It's just something to be aware of before you decide to main the role.

Hew Heraveth, I'm in the uk and use the Zodiark server, it always seem full of player's, even at 2 am (sat night/sun morn game time for me) If you have not already picked another server and join zodiark then F/R me.
