I"m wondering why aren't crafters getting equip that are i70 or i90 as well? I know there is a hat and tool but what about gears?

I seriously doubt that, to make 3 *** ilvl 90 we had to max out the current gear just to have a fair chance to HQ, personally it cost me like 2,4mill to take leather-worker gear to that level of crafting. SE could had given us the higher lvl gear but since they did not do that I wont expect it to happen in the near future.
Two chances. Fat and slim.
I think we may get something.. some jewellery maybe,
as they are adding new mats from de-synthing gear and they will need to be used in something.
not saying we will defo get some but I'm hopeful.
If we do, it better be the upgrade path, because SE will have a lot of PO customers if they just come out with better i70/90 gear that renders all existing overmelded gears useless.
jc
The way they seem to be going they just might make all of those melds obsolete, except for the fact that you have to have them to craft the items to trade for the i70 pieces. This doesn't bother me too much as the prospect of getting better gear and then having to dump a ton of materia into it as well is daunting.
I don't expect outright better crafted crafting/ gathering gear until the level cap increase, and even then I'm not sure how they'll handle it exactly.
It did just occur to me though that they might not go too far with the trade in system of better gear because that really only requires overmelding a single craft to obtain all of the armor pieces. If a full set was eventually released you could outfit all of your crafting jobs well while only having spent materia on one.
attackat:
if you look at what they did for dow/m gear sets you can see they are willing to do exactly that. people worked there asses of for darklight and myth gear just for it to be thrown to one side with sol tomes and high allagan drops. sol tomes being a big shortcut to better gear if your willing to wait the two months it takes to deck out your character. although in truth your still probs gonna use darklight drops from the hm dungeons whist you gather your sol each week.
I totally expect that any future gear for crafters will either require us to re-meld (I hope not) or trade items for.
nutz:
the easiest way around what you said there nutz is for the trade ins to require something from every craft which of course is unique untradeable,. that way everyone would have to raise all crafts to get any of it. or another option would be to make it so each class can trade items for only one of the pieces.
I prefer the frst of those two options though.
I don't think any gear we may see anytime soon is going to make such a big impact as I don't think they want to destroy the 3* market so soon after introducing it, I think we are more likely to get something along the lines of slightly better max melded jewellery or off-hands as another stop gap to a bigger release with the expansion.
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. This game hasn't even seen its first level cap increase yet. Don't expect it before that though.
While I do not mind seeing further gear upgrades for crafters, and truth is, to craft i110 gear, then upgrade must come.
However, as of the currently state, that is just totally unreasonable to expect. ATM HQ 3 star is RNG based and totally hit and miss. While I also understand dow/m items are RNG, but at least they don't have to spend gils to get them, crafters must, and a lot of it when it comes to crafting high level items.
So, until SE ease the path for 3 stars, I do not see it soon. It will be totally unfair for SE to give dom/w a gil-free path to their i110 items, while demanding DoH/L to spend millions (9+3) on their sets.
jc
You don't need ti spend a single gil on you DoH or DoL gear or on anything you're crafting. DoW / DoM gear is not "free" either as you need to invest time to get, the same way you can invest time for DoH / DoH to avoid spending gil on any mats.
Honestly since I heard that there are jewelry items in the next patch I am thoroughly expecting i70 crafting accessories in this patch. I just hope they arent as much of a pain to get as the artisan tools are. needing 45 items that cost 2500 GC seals each to upgrade is kinda annoying.
Sorry, but I must disagree here. I do not know of a path where DoH can fully craft their AF gears w/o any dependency on DoW/M/L. In addition, ATM, iL70+ gear can only be crafted with materials supplied by DoW/M. DoM/W, however, has no dependency on any DoL/H for their iL110 gears.
jc
And where exactly do I claim that? I was simply sying that you don't need to spend a single gill (bar millions) to level DoH / DoL. To be able to fully craft DoH / DoL gear you need any DoW / DoM class at level 43+ (at which point you can start gaining tomes from Daily Beast tribe quests), majority of the stuff needed can be gained even prior that and via GC seals. I've fully leveled all my DoHs and DoLs prior even reaching 50 on my first DoW class and I've never purchased anything (or needed to) what I'd not be able to obtain myself.
I guess we are bring out different points to the disagreement.
You are stating you do not need to spend any gil, but yet, you need to level pretty much all of your DoL/H classes, and any DoW/M class, in order to craft your final gear set for DoH. This, I do not believe is leveling path taken by most of the players. I am saying you can obtain any one DoW/M class max gear set w/o any dependency on any other class, yet, you cannot do the same for DoH/L w/o spending any gil. This, however, I believe is the path of most players.
But in the end, what I am trying to say is SE needs to better balance inter-class dependencies, and not this one-sided combat classes only game play.
jc
The only difficult mat to HQ is the mastic (i still get mostly HQ) that's used to craft all ilvl90 gear, but even without that, it's easy to do 100% HQ if the other comp are HQ.
Respectfully, I think SE designed the jobs as they did (like most MMOs) very intentionally. That is, most players will level some kind of adventuring job, some will dabble in crafts and much less will level all crafting. I think the point of crafting is that it is something you can do alone, in your free time. The adventuring jobs require coordinated play with others: forming parties, scheduling statics or RNGing/PUGing various instances. The challenges involved are like apples and oranges. Complex apples and oranges mind you.
Additionally I don't think it's entirely fair to say a DoW/M does not have dependencies on other jobs. As a PLD, I had to level WHM and WAR to various levels to get specific abilities to be able to do harder dungeons effectively. Again you're right in saying it's nothing like the amount of levels involved in crafting, but honestly leveling crafting was, for me, very fast and very cheap- I actually made a lot of money leveling almost all crafting jobs to 50.
I'm seriously hoping they mean the offhand tool.
This is absurd.... No, it's beyond absurd, it's pure WTH?! :( Adding new primary tools, after we just got them in a preceding patch is not what the players were asking for. Same forced gear progression (as with DoW/DoM) being shoveled in our way making previous stuff too obsolete too soon. Not happy at all....
And coming in patch 2.35, new DoL/DoH headgear!
Millions of market worth of mats sacrificed to the last run of primary tools 3 months ago and they are already obsolete? What is the point in keeping up with crafting if its linear progression is faster than DoW/M and costs me more?
I agree with the rest. A new main hand tool already is ridiculous (as would be new head gear). Off-hand are what is really needed. but anything besides main hand or head gear would be good.
Really hope is a typo and you meant off hand, otherwise this is an absolute insult to anyone who grinded the main hand tools in last patch
I don't understand the need for newer mainhand weapons for the DoH/DoL. We just grinded for those a few months ago in addition to the helm. I think what people would like to see are offhands or perhaps other armor pieces that share across multiple professions to free up armory space.
I also hope they mean off-hand tools.
I've barely begun farming for the Miner primary tool for it to already be outclassed in a few days.
What the point of new stuff if there is no new gear to craft. Make it easier to do ? I don't think that's a good move.
Camate must have meant secondary tools, though that leaves FSHs twiddling their thumbs (or rather still working on their much more grueling ilvl 70 rod grind). More than secondary tools, I'd really like some more shared armor. My MIN is more or less done with current BiS, but everything else is lacking or not yet leveled.
