Mining Grade 5 Impossible after 1.18

Mining grade 5 now is a nightmare (have tried Treespeak and Halatali only so far). Due to the fact that u now have to stay wihtin ur gather class - 3 mining nodes are nescessary (not 3 nodes of any type) it is also very much harder.

Treespeak: the north and the northeast is cluttered with hordes of R46+ beastmen. A node i saw was within aggro-range of 10 of these. I was able to get to 2 nodes but never a third.

Halatali: there are groups of R40+ Assassins in around half the cave areas and half the outside is filled with hordes of R40+ antlings. Not possible to find 3 nodes.

This makes the ranking of miner and possibly botanist impossible. I welcome the fact that beastmen tribes have been added, but there is enough room outside the node areas for those.

Yes, there are dangers associated with the better nodes. This is unreasonable why?

Let's put Hostile NM's on top of your solo content and call it reasonable. You don't understand the differences between danger and impossible.

One or two mobs to clear off a node is no problem at all, don't get me wrong. This is just a bit too much, and even if u are R50 there is no way u can clear mobs to get to a node. You should go try it out urself.. ^^

ya you cant even kill them then mine as they respawn before you are finished

Exactly, this is just what i meant. Just asking for repositioning of some of these mobs, then we can all be happy fighting and gathering :)

Been ranking in Camp Dragonhead area to cap mining just fine. I bet Iron Lake is still doable. Honestly Treespeak always gave me problems because of the damnable Gob NM, but I am sad to see Halatali lost now too.

Seriously, the future of my miner/blacksmith/pugilist is sounding bleaker and bleaker by the moment. :(

I pointed this out in the other thread in general

Iron Lake is relatively safe to go to if you avoid the spot with the raptors

MOST of the nodes are in safe zones(granted i said MOST, not ALL)

for example, i mined all morning and didnt get attacked once....40k sp before i fatigued...so yeah, iron lake is good



also if your doing leves, hala is the place to do them, you can do them all safely there

In addition to the concerns already stated, there's also the problem that gathering spots go down until nearly exhausted, but then STAY in nearly exhausted state until they can be completely depleted by one more mining/botany operation.
so unless they changed this as well, over time, (multiple) spots will in essense run the risk of being stuck behind enemy lines never being fully exhausted, and well, render areas even more problematic to gather in.

This is remarkably poor design, unless SE for some reason wants to cull gathering activities of course.

It seems like these aggro hordes were implemented and placed with the planned stealth skill in mind. This is an interesting idea - YET it is horribly bad that this stealth skill was not implemented in the same patch. These mobs should be (re)moved until that is in place so we can do something about it.

Mention about the stealth skill is taken from Yoshida's Letter from
"Letter from the Producer, XII (27/06/2011)":

"1.18 and Beyond: ... Disciples of the Land will benefit from the addition of a stealth skill to their arsenal..."

It seems this will be added in 1.19 or a later patch.

I just enjoyed another full morning mining Iron Lake with absolutely no agro
dont know why everyone else is having issues there

iron lake is the safest area. treespeak is death city and halitali is alright

The safest is Dragonhead, you would have to go pretty far from the remotest nodes to even find something that agros >.>

Is it true you have to stay within your own class now? For Treespeak I always rotated two botany nodes plus a mining node so that I could factor in the walnut tree and minimise runs. I've not been up to Treespeak since the patch but doing botany leves at Iron Lake seemed easier yesterday than pre-patch. There appears to be less kobolds in the area where the three trees pop as the placement was adjusted. But that could have just been luck of current conditions.

Grinding DoL is silly since patch anyway, I will only mine or log for items now. Leves are the way to go for SP unless you're the type who wants rank 50 like now. But I'm happy going from 45-50 over a few weeks.
