Setting Home Point

After the patch, iv been doing a lot of running for quests/GuildLeves and to simply explore some of the settlements and noticed how much of a pain it is to return back to town after doing a leve or behest because it automatically sets the camp as your home point.

My proposal is to have the option to freely choose which Aetheryte we want as our home point and once set this does not automatically change unless the player chooses to. When you die doing leves, you would get the option to return to the aetheryte you last touched (the camp you started the leve at) or your Home Point. Return on the other hand will always teleport you back to your Home Point when your alive. The Option to choose your home point is in most MMOs;

Aion for explain has a system similar to what i proposed, you can set Home Point at a Obelisk, you also have the option to use Kisks in the world. Kisks are like mini Obelisk that you carry around and can use in certain places. Using a Kisk spawns a mini Obelisk and allows you to set that position as a 2nd Home Point for a period of time and should you die, you have the option to return to the kisk or to the Obelisk. Using the Return spell on the other hand will always return you to the Obelisk.

Personally i'm not fond of this automatic Home Point system that currently exists in the game. While i don't expect anything like Aion where you can carry around a mini Aetherye, i would like the option to Choose where my Home Point is and not have it changed unless i choose to, since the current system is a waste. Most of the R40, R50 camps are really far away from town too so its just a waste of anima to port or a waste of time to run back.

I agree. Please let us choose a homepoint that can't be changing simply by touching another crystal. Instead of automatically changing, I'd like to see an option to change your homepoint to the current location/keep existing homepoint. I would not mind at all if you have to physically touch the crystal to reset the homepoint (as opposed to choosing it from anywhere using a menu).

I want this too. Also being able to browse a bazaar while moving would be great. Can't count how many I haven't looked at just because I knew I would stop running if I did.

With the reduced cost of the return function, this would be a very ideal function that would ease the stress of anima costs. +1 from me. They should call it a "Home Point" and make the lesser version that moves around "Return Point".

I agree but i think it should be an return point and home point.

For instance if i were to die i could chose my HP or RP but RP's can be the way they are now last crystal you touch you can warp there but for HP you can set it anywhere you like, in town, crystal or node. also when you die you chose to go to HP or return point

I really don't understand why SE decided not to give us the option to set HP. This is like a basic feature found in all MMORPG. I hope some dev's see this thread before it gets pushed down to 2nd page. I'm just interested in knowing why this feature was not included and if they plan to add a Home Point Feature in the future.

I'd rather not, once we get Chocobos.

I've proposed this a few times in feedback months ago. Maybe a thread with popularity will help inspire this change.

I was just thinking this when I logged in. It's a very basic functionality. Without it, the Return function is useless outside of when you die.

Ya, ever since they updated return its been bothering me too. Return in most games is used to take you back to your HP and in FFXI it was Warp which had the same function. In this game, thanks to the automatic home point system, the purpose of return is kinda defeated in my opinion. Even with Return costing 0 anima, you'll still waste time running after doing a leve or waste anima teleporting back to town.

A home point function would be awesome. This is the only MMO I've played that doesn't have one.

I don't think so
Example: You set Gridania as your save point (it's a better word as home point). Now you are going to camp smaragd moos for crafting leves. Fast return to Gridania for 0 Anima and now you are going to the another camps for the crafting leves.

Turning in crafting leves is the only useful function for it imo. As i stated above, if you were at the camp for behest, guild leves or faction leves as opposed to turning in crafting leves; you would be stuck at the camp and forced to run back or waste anima to go back. Kinda kills the purpose of "Return" if you can't return back to town or your desired HP after doing a guildleve or faction. and While you can argue that it "returns" you to the camp, i can return to the camp by touching the aetheryte that pops when i finish the leve or if i die.

For example, take the horn and hand faction, while the leves are simple to do, its a pain if your running there or a lot of Anima, and by doing the leve your HP gets auto set to the camp. So even after the leve your stuck either wasting more time running back or wasting more anima.

So happy they decided to give us the option to set Home Point in the upcoming patch, was kinda worried this feature would be ignored since not many ppl commented on it.

Yeah I am very pleased with that upcoming change along with other changes in 1.18a, very pleased.

A lot of times I voluntarily did not touch the aetheryte so not to change my return points. Was annoying when I was running past nodes I never visited before and I did not get them because I had planned on using my return at a specific place.
