So who gets to be the lucky few to take them to Scob
Lots of people will start playing Rogue
A percentage of those will unlock Ninja
A percentage of those will reach 50
A percentage of those will actually do endgame gearup
A percentage of those will actually plan Ninja at endgame...
Wouldn't expect that many Ninja at endgame really... Might be over-represented for a short time, but most people will go back to their main and not switch.
This always happens with new classes/jobs being released and when tweaks/buffs/nerfs are announced to the pre-existing ones - it's just flavour of the month with some class being overplayed for a bit. I am sure people in actual statics will think through further than that, especially while the NIN-meta is still not fully developed.
My problem with the new class, is that DF is already a horrible queue as a DPS class, yet they are adding yet another DPS class.
It will only make the Tank/Healer shortage in DF worse still.
Biggest issue I see is that its being released as a new class/job without any others along side it(as far as we know right now).
There are soooo many people who have all their classes/jobs at 50 and geared already(myself included), that we will most certainly jump right on rogue/ninja immediately and level it on up to 50 and gear it just to have something new to do.
Who's gonna be left to heal and tank for us all when we're all going rogue/ninja to get em leveled? lol
Looking forward to some crappy queue times while leveling it to be sure. I don't see myself giving up my beloved bard as a main at all but I will definitely be rogue/ninja full on until its leveled and geared as will many I suspect
For a week or two maybe...
People that like to tank will continue to tank
People that like to heal will continue to heal
More tanks/healers would increase available tanks/healers for a week or two before there is a shortage again
More tank/healer classes will not change what roles players choose to play in the long run. It will just give tanks/healers more jobs to pick from.
When 2.4 hits there will be a flood of Rogue and Ninja but after everyone gets level 50 they will have to decide to main Ninja or continue to progress on their ilevel 100+ jobs just like when Scholar was released.
I can already see the hours of queues on DF, everyone on DPS role :]
I belive they would have made it alot more exciting to have brought out a tank/heal/melee & range class all at once. Why did they not do that? Seems more normal to have brought 1 of every class out
Of course when a class is released a lot will try out, fates going to be crowded :)
But afterwards players will revert to play what they like.
We will end up with the same shortage on tanks, a bit less on heals and the most who will main Rogue/Ninja will be people that played DPS already (or start like one)
people clearly dont understand how the DF pairs dps. adding rogue/nin is going to balance melee vs. ranged players. since the DF always tries to pair 1 range 1 melee 1 tank 1 heal this should actually speed up q times not shorten them.
and really the only people who are going to jump over to nin and not come back are the folks have been waiting for a stealth class, stealth classes were always my main in other rpgs/mmo's i was really sad they didnt have one here. i will most likely create a rogue but im waaaaay to deep into my sch to even think about switching for good
Rouge and Ninja are also much more cooler and more popular then monkey, goon and barcher .
Many players were waiting for the rogue archetype, its the most popular of all the archetypes. So enjoy your dps queues lol.
It's a good time to level Arcanist. Get your Yellow Carby out, invite 3 rogues, and level to 30 together.
I'm thinking... if a Ninja will ninja a loot on a pf group, is he bannable? He rp'd his character after all. OMG xDD
And yes, it is reasonable find a lot of df parties ninja-based, I too want play with a new class. When at endgame it is a different story, I don't change main so easily.
I'm already calling it now. Derpninjas will replace Derpgoons as the top tier derps in the game. First to eat plumes. Still get hit by landslide even with faster movements. First to attack mobs. Top tier derp class after 2.4. Calling it now.
How will they get hit by more plumes if they have perma sprint? They don't have position requirements either for their attacks if i recall correctly, they will be the "easiest" melee. Though since there will be more of them that means you will see more of them mess up.
I wonder the achievements and titles for have all 50 on jobs will be reset.
New classes will always be over-played. During the 2.0 beta, Arcanist was like, 50% of the players.
I'm sure I'm wrong about the exact number, but it was a lot.
Playing rolling rogue/ninja will just be a flavor of the month thing. Some will use them for endgame or switch to them as their new main. Regarding queue times for DPS they are bad & adding a new dps won't help unfortunately but maybe they will add a new tank and healer class to help out with that.
Yeah you're right. To avoid this scenario they should just never release new classes or jobs. Because I want to be the only one playing new jobs.
What I came to learn about this game: level as much jobs to 50 withing your Eorzean powers. If you're in a static, make a list of which job you like the most. Join the static with either of those jobs. Within 2 months you'll be clearing all endgame content having almost all the gear needed, then it's time for NIN (if NIN is what you wanted initially).
My point. If you force your NIN, you'll end up waiting forever to find a group (that is if you'd wish to do endgame with it). At one point your group can switch up jobs a little so you can eventually play your NIN if that is what you wanted to main.
Just my opinion, some people like waiting for some reason.
Because when Scholar was released every one immediately jumped ship, and now no one ever plays any thing but Scholar, right?
Laughing @ dps waiting times bit after release of Rogue ;D (because everyone will want to burn , play , try , etc the class/job)
Ty for the Eorzean Powers, nice way to put our hard work, I like it ^^
ahem *serious mode*
With my FC and some other friends from other FC, we are getting into a 'dynamic-static' In which those who have unlocked and geared up properly the jobs they like to play, to be entitled to do so.
As much as I want my warlion, If another mates wants it to, We do one round me as PLD, the other round it's him.
And then, another one wants to play DRG/MNK/anything - I will have a spot for my Ninja, as well as any other.
This game isn't carved into stone: it's evolving, and I think the ones that unlocks all, have more freedom to play (not to say they have fun playing an Alt class)
I have only a small percentage (GF included) that will want to play only a specific role (SMN/BLM) so we work around those, and.. we have fun ^^
I agree whatever is new in the game, people will rush to taste it. Then, time will make it return to normal, having only one more DPS/future tank/future healer into the 4-8-24 teams.
I still believe that musketeer and rogue will be added at the same time, and they simply haven't gotten around to the official announcement for musketeer yet (gotta spread the big news out over several months, after all). So here's how I think they'll handle achievements:
Text for the (current) all jobs achievement will be altered as so:
- A Life of Adventure: Acheive level 50 as a gladiator, pugilist, marauder, archer, lancer, conjurer, thaumaturge, and arcanist. Item Awarded: Paragon's Crown.
New achievements will be added:
- A Life of Action: Achieve level 50 as a rogue and musketeer.
- A Life of Glory: Achieve level 50 in all disciplines of War and Magic. Item Awarded: Paragon's Crown +1
As for rogue (and musketeer) being overplayed, yeah, during the initial months the lower level dungeons will be FLOODED with DDs. I will likely be one of them. That said, when it comes to endgame the majority of these players will go back to their old classes, and for many those old classes will be healers and tanks. The new dd classes will have no long-term impact, I think - but in the short term, enjoy those Duty Roulette queue times. Hope you have a book to read! :D
Things will settle down once the initial rush goes through. As someone else pointed out, people who like to tank will play tank, people who like to heal will play healer. The number of jobs available for each type won't change that much.
They should, though add tank and healer jobs at the same time. That way, the initial rush will be balanced through DF as tanks tank, healers heal, ...
Why would people get into DF for their new class/jobs?
Make a PF, ask friends, FC mates.. LS it's not that hard.. just like some do wintrading, you can do one run with you as NIN, next run its another person, etc..
I will still DF with my tank, so rest assured ;) (ok sometimes SCH, my WHM mate should be WAR 50 as I type this ^^) - I DF for the bonuses, like all of you I guess?
And now DF High-lvl and Expert with 3-4 other members if they are online, which - gives us bonuses, no need to cope with any other player's bad attitudes..
sad part: people that need tanks/healers, even nice ones..
sum tin wong..
ive planned on being a ninja or thief since beta so, it WILL be my main
My Raid group actually refuses to let anyone re-roll Ninja until we see it being played properly. I plan to make the re-roll, but until I can upfront the numbers like the rest of our dps and get the class down, I will not be touching it in a raid environment.
