Brace yourselves, nin bandwagon is coming lol
Seriously though, when I heard you'd have to do ninjutsu combos and can fail, I instantly thought how many horribads are going to be on nin, you know the ones. The types who can't get out of AoEs or never pay attention to their rotation, or don't listen to advice, you know, 90% of the population here :P But nin looks awesome though, I just wish rogue would have been a job, sort of how smn/sch are, so there's more than just nin running around.
More than anything, I'm looking forward to the "kage bunshin no jutsu!" macros, preferably in /say.
Yea it is kinda a pity that even though they are designing this poison aspect for the Rogue class it's most likelt going to be replaced by the hand marks when on Ninja. Since they had said they have the ability to change abilities when going to job, and shown in the way of Carbuncles turning into Titan and Garuda. I do see them making the "poison stances" "hand gestures" when on Ninja with maybe one or two more hand gestures that are job specfic but the hand gestures would only be when on Ninja while Rogue will have the poison focus.
I was hoping they might of considered to introduce two jobs for Rogue as well, they could of revealed Thief in that sense, making then more focused on the poison combinations and even giving a backstory mores o focused on the old teachings and outright dirty deeds of the Thief's soul.
Thancred could of been the job crystal focused on Thief, diving into his backstory and the ways of a thief, while Yugiri could of been focused on training in the ways of Ninja, to be honest I thought the whole reason they had opened the door like that was so that they would introduce two jobs for this class.
All the derpgoons are going to become Nins. There is no way around it. The only way that would be remedied is if Drk came out around the same time. Atleast that way, it would be split. (No shade on dragoons, but every game has that one "cool" class that attracts the derps, usually it's the dual wielding class or the "dark/evil" class.)
I like the sound of rogue, I've yet to have a dps class really click with me yet so I hope this one does. Not too thrilled with the whole ninja theme, never enjoyed that, but I suppose I could glamour it to look like something else. Do rogue and nin have different movement/melee animations though? It was hard to tell but if so that disappoints me, rogue looks neat.
So maybe bad ninjas will stand out a lot if it takes skill. But you know, that also means that good ninjas will be recognized for their skill.
A high damage, high skill dps is definitely good. I can see myself picking the job up once it's out.
The Ninja in Final Fantasy series was identified with hit a high damage / get a high damage (= high risks high returns)
I hope Ninja is specialized for high tequniqal players as them.
Also I am do waiting the new roll, I get little bit bored to DPS roll :/
I've seen more "BLM derps", "BRD derps" and "MNK derps", than i have seen "DRG derps". Just saying...
On topic:
I really like the look of NIN and also of Rogue. I always loved Dual Wield Classes, so i guess it is time to get some Atma's and Alex in preparation. :p
I have to say, it surprises me a bit that they're adding another DD before a tank or a healer. And it puzzles me that when they first decided to add another DD it wasn't Musketeer (assuming it's a DD). Hopefully they'll announce musketeer later this week as a surprise, but I vaguely remember Yoshida saying that they wanted to add the classes already in the game, but unavailable to players (like arcanist was and now musketeer), before adding other classes.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ninja as a concept, it just seems like an odd decision.
The song in the trailer is very familiar, anyone know what it's a rendition of?
Then it would be impossible to fail. And also, if you could macro it, it would imply it is "just" some chain of Actions. A Chain of Action would be a Combo, which can fail, if you do not get them right in time, but i don't think that is what he meant.
I am thinking more of something like this:

Not exactly like that one, but going into that direction where you have to press certain Actions after each other to form a certain Ninjutsu. Those Actions you have to press can be totally random, so you CAN fail if you do the wrong order. That is what i would imagine right now of how he explained it.
