This will be awesome, kinda like how wow has heroic mode raids.
Did you have to make a new thread on this? >_>
Pretty sure this will be more intense than Herioc mode from what he is saying.
I'd rather have new content rather than retuned. Oh well.
they just said you can't do extreme and normal only do 1 per week.
Also I'm pretty sure this is for the second coil and not the first, as an example they brought up was rafflesia which is ofc second coil
Won't be something I try until I have it farmed out since the loot is the same. Don't want to get locked into the harder mode of fights if my group doesn't have their mains geared up yet.
Lockout is stupid on harder mode with the same loot.
omg he said extreme instead of brutal omg now the meaning is completely lost......-_-. everything he said is still correct. he never said there wouldnt be different levels or that somehow the existing coil would be replaced. he merely expressed some excitement over what they announced. come on now.
They should up the stats of drops 5 ilvl's & perhaps give it a minor polish/sheen upgrade.
He specifically said that there will be the same reward as normal mode (extreme for primals I think ?) but with harder difficulty and a title if you suceed. Moreover, for lockout purpose, doing Brutal version will lock you out of normal version for the week (in coil). You also have to do the content at least once to unlock the harder version of it
Its not called extreme its call brutal
Party finder group appears: "LFM Brutal Scob, first mistake = kick, not a learning party!"
*After 16hrs a a bard joins...*
Bard > Hello!
Party Starter > Hi! So you have unlocked brutal modes in second coil?
Bard > Is dis teh one wif da snake? I keel him gud. I'm gunna spirit bond for this kthx?
==========================================================
:P But yea, given my luck with pugs for Scob when I was without a static, I can't imagine a brutal mode pug... I would never try. I'd giggle to myself when they inevitably appear in party finder though! And you know people will put those up in there! :P
I tried to make it sound as ridiculous as I could think of for my example... But reality is always much more amusing!
I agree with this.
It can be said though, like I had to use the "w" word, but WoW and a few other games offer 2+ modes as well for raids and they do just fine. Depending on the time period/expansion and/or the game mentioned, usually the reward for the extra time spent is often a extra drop from the loot table or some such. I mean really, you are probably going to be doubling++ your time in there, 33% more drops doesn't seem too outrageous.
That being said, I don't think the FFXIV community would do well with that... Most of the player base hasn't killed Titan HM... If people were enjoying raiding more, better rewards might be a option. Based on feedback I've gotten on the forums, most people would rather steer clear of raiding... People aren't really into that kind of stuff as much in this game. I assume people that actually have a static group that raids Scob weekly are like maybe lower than 30% of the player base and of those people, maybe only a third of them would even want to do brutal modes.... So yea, 10% of the player base doing the brutals, and maybe only 10% of them actually maybe beating it eventually... So that leaves us with 1% getting the benefit... It's not cause it's so hard that people aren't skilled enough or anything. People just consider raiding in this game to be unfun, I guess? Personally i think it's fun.
This will be for the super hardcore that can do 6-9 effortlessly and probably have all the loot they want already.
I quite like the idea of releasing fights the development team aren't sure are beatable to see if they are. It's a test for the elite to show the development team what they're capable of.
there's no accurate way to know how much of the population is clearing raid content but we do know that according to yoshi team they have stopped buffing first coil because they have seen satisfactory number of players clearing it and are continuing to do so. What is this number? 10%? 20%? we don't know, but it is within SE's projection that's for sure.
Secondly, the official forums does not reflect the majority player base's opinion. Complaint threads are the most prevalent because it's the nature of people to complain when they find something they dont like or disagree with. The people that are satisfied has no reason to start random feel good / thank you threads, therefore the opinion will be skewed towards more negativity. this applies to any forums of any kind, just look at the official forums of any game/appliances/products..etc.
Actually there is. Except if you are in the "PS3/4 players suck more than PC players" clan, you could ask for the % of completion of the "complete the Binding Coil of Bahamut" trophy. Last time I heard about it, it was roughly at 5% (2 weeks ago). All players' numbers shouldn't be that far. Maybe 5-6% ?
Turn 2 Brutal Mode Enrage. Please look forward to it.
actually... numbers are average you know ?
It doesn't matter if there are 20 PC players for 1 PS3/4 player, fact is, if PC and PS3/4 players have equal skill/chances to defeat the content (which I strongly believe), numbers found for PS3/4 are pretty accurate for PC too.
i.e, PS3/4 percentage of completion is more or less total player percentage of completion.
Turn 2 triple un-nerfed High Voltage. Please look forward to it.
(who wanted random attacks already ? xD )
Edit because limit reached :
1) since when aren't legacy players able to play on PS3/4 ? I'd be curious to know.
2) we're talking about content that is 9 month old. Even "PS3 players who began fresh in 2.0" had way enough time to try and/or kill it.
3) Most players are new to the game, nothing to do with legacy or not.
You can't just assume that because there are legacy player on PC, PS3 players are behind in terms of completion. That would be totally wrong if you consider 9 month old content. (ok, 7 month if we count from 1st completion of T5)
.... no this is wrong. console numbers definitely doesn't reflect PC numbers, let alone the whole community. To start with, a good number of PC players are legacy or transitioned from 1.0 while PS3 players started with 2.0's launch and PS4 players at 2.2. Most console players are new to the game, naturally their completion rate will not be comparable to 1.0/legacy/PC players, which had a good headstart on content.
But with the introduction of 2.2 and echo buff we are definitely seeing an increase in people clearing raid content, consoles or not, specifically turn 5. To be honest, as of now, FC are clearing SCOB faster than BCOB when it was released in 2.0, mainly due to the increased in soldiery token, more options to gear and such.
Lol...samples are taken and used as populations all the time in statistics. It actually can be used to reflect it very well. Also, the legacy advantage died half a year ago. And the main reason FC complete SCOB quicker is because Twin was down for about a month because she was bugged. It was actually easier to gear when tome items were 10 ilvl higher and you could make accessories 20 levels under cap to meld in vitality and such. Buying an extra item every 3 weeks isn't really comparable.
just because Yoshi talked about releasing the original un-tuned version of the coil fights, in no way means that that is exactly what will happen. I still fully expect them to tuned to some level of 'yeah, we think the players will be able to beat this' before they actually release it to us
Greetings,
The “Brutal” version of the Second Coil of Bahamut turns will share the same clear flags as the regular version, so clearing it will count towards your progress for the week. Also, if you cannot clear the brutal version of turn 1, for example, you’ll be able to leave and try the regular version. The rewards will be the same and this content is only there for the bravest to test their might. :)
I think the rewards should instead be +5ilvl on the pieces & a slightly different color-shade or sheen on them, title for full completion... or 1 or the other, a title isn't enough.
Also, we need Brutal Labyrinth of the Ancients.
I heard your original design was so outlandishly difficult, you had to tone it down a ton.
Put that in the game!!!
Brutal mode is just for bragging rights.
I assume probably the only fc to clear it any time soon is BG.
If BG can't do it then probably no one can.
Cuz they r the best of the best.
Hands down! We can't possibly imagine to beat it without strat vids if you don't spend countless hours of wiping and learning.
Soooo...its
-storymode
-hardmode
-extreme mode
-brutal mode
I wonder if the devs will make brutal versions for the primals and dungeons.
Stop recycling your content. It is starting to get old really fast.
I think a shiny version of the armor or a color-swap would be a lot better of a bragging rights award than simply a title for defeating it all.
Maybe one title per turn completion (one for 6, one for 7, the ultimate v. being 9 obviously)... but one title, meh.
This way people could visibly gauge your progress in the Brutal Coil.
I love a good challenge but I'd much prefer a "High Allagan Gloves of Striking (Brutal)" piece with a new color (perhaps just swap the black/red tones to red/black) or shiny for my efforts.
I think the reward for now should at least be a title.
