I'm not a solo player, but one of the selling points of FFXIV when it was announced is that it would be solo-friendly.
Every MMO has solo content, why shouldn't this one?

Yeah, you're probably right yoshida never talked about this being a game for solo players and group players. Looks like we're getting that 8 month of 5-6 hours a day grinding in ff11 that we all loved =D!
solo friendly does not mean that everything should be soloable. Levequests are still very solo friendly and if you actually know what you're doing, you won't run out of mp. I'm not flaming, I'm being logical and realistic. MMOs are not solo games, regardless of how solo friendly they may be.
Not to mention you heal faster not moving then moving. That trait was lost to people when they had mp-god
try using one of those useful MP-regen skills. You have those for a reason :D
The speed of being able to play solo has severely suffered and it was very obvious when soloing 2 leves on my Thaumaturge to test how much they changed it. I will be restating more points to mind when I can again and be reducing my other job capabilities cause low mind is very difficult to play with after the MP cost increases. Full time use of Stygian and Siphon MP is rather bothersome now to keep the pace of battle from slowing down too badly. It's not fun just standing around watching for MP to recover slowly.
P.S. The Skill Points given from the leves at the end is no where near enough to make up for the loss of the bonus points the monsters previously gave per kill. If including the movement times between kills as a factor, leves a really poor source of skill points compared to an continuous grind if that's still possible with the raised MP costs.
A 2 year old kid should be able to solo a Coblyn.. if this is true this patch is one huge mess of fail.

Game has become slightly harder now, siomply because mana matters. Before it didn't. Mages never ran out, which is idiotic. It's called balancing, welcome to it.
WoW kids thing you should be able to solo to max level.. the fans that SE should be catering to.. those of us that paid to play FFXI for the past 8-9 years.. think it should be group play....
No, actually XI it is fun to solo now, because someone gave the developers there a clue, and they started making the game fun instead of boring and grindy. Apparently Yoshi found a time machine because his core battle design principles seem like they are straight from 2001.
nothing has changed for me i still have to solo, thanks to having a crappy party search.
Then don't solo with a nuke or healer if it's too difficult.
Seriously, if this becomes a big problem for people, Square will make more adjustments in sub updates.
I tried to do a few leves and my damage was nice, evasion seemed to be working well and I didn't miss nearly as much but the higher mp cost for healing as a pugilist was ridiculous waiting for my mp to refill after every battle, reminded me of soloing THF in XI to 30. I stopped using the mp consuming, previous standard attacks to conserve for healing. I found myself just waiting for TP/cooldowns and such most of the time without the standard attacks. I guess I could just do easier leves but not much fun in that. Consumables would make this more viable but still annoying for me the player that just does a few leves once in a while.
