Now that the old repair items seem useless, is there some place to trade them in for Dark Matter? Or are they all truly worthless now?

What the Hell now i cant repair my own things?
npc wated 3k. what an outrage ... /Fume!!
i figured it was dark matter or the old way but not dark matter or no way.
loved everything about 1.18 sept this.
Do items like siltstone whetstone and chamois spetch truly serve no purpose now? I'm not sure what to do with them atm.
I don't mind the dark matter switch, it just seems like a lot of items ingame will have no purpose whatsoever. Are they going to put them in new recipes?
I'd like to know, as well. I have stacks of hempen and cotton fent that I'm not sure what to do with now.
A few like Buffalo Spetches have recipes that use them, but most are useless items now.
Don't quote me, but they might add recipes to synth Dark Matters with these next time.
*Well, we never would have guessed they would add Fish -> Shards when the game first came out either...
Spetches and fents cost you pennies and take minutes at most to make an entire stack. This really isn't worth getting so worked up over.
It's not hard to see why people would get upset over the whole repair material deal, though. Everyone including myself had been carrying repair materials for gear before the patch hit and now all those materials are just crafting materials with no way quick way to turn them in for the new type of repair material. An NPC that would allow people for a week or two to trade in old repair materials for dark matter wouldn't have hurt anything in the long run.
Maybe not, but it takes the developers time to create a system that allows players to do something like that. I'd much rather them spend their precious time working on systems that improve the entire game rather than fixing a slight inconvenience for a small percentage of players
Oh cool, you work in Crystal tools and understand how development and implementation of MMO features work then? Do share.
Cat fight!!!!!
Nharil, you absolutely right. I mean they made what seems to be a mistake but it doesn't effect you so they should just keep going forward. Who cares if a few toes get stepped on?
When they step on your toes, we should be certain to remember. Its unimportant cause the error only effected you and few of your friends.
I would like them spending their time actually making this into a FF game rather than trying to fix what wasn't really broken. I'd like the promises made to be kept. I'd like that when they make obvious mistakes they fix them ASAP even if that means putting back some old code as the patch.
I had been away for some time and waited for 1.18 to get back into the game. Needless to say this change was a bit jarring at first, but like the new simplicity. Nice not to have to have a whole bunch of repair materials taking up inventory. As for ones I had? Sell 'em to an NPC, granted you won't get much, but better than nothin'.
I probly carried around more of the now useless repair mats then any of you guys did
i vendored over 40 stacks worth of stuff and you dont see me complaining
just roll with it and move on
Ya now you have open spaces to carry anything needed for the materia system once it's introduced lol.
To be perfectly honest, I'm only disappointed because the line "All repair materials have been replaced with a universal item called dark matter." in the patch notes misled me to believe that my current repair materials would be replaced with corresponding Dark Matter as well. Alas, it was all wishful thinking. =\
