Mages nerf. Patch should be called: nerfing patch!

Now you guys done it. You messed the Mage class. I'm really cOnsidering quitting for good. I am a solo/duo player. Now I can't do stanced dungeon since it needs 4 people. My main issue is the mp increase. Are you guys retarded? Because it just made soloing/duo umplayable! Heal 3 times and that's it. No mp.Plus 90% of the fucking skills are one enemy only including siphon! Whats wrong with making content for parties and big clans and leaving us soloers/ duo the hell alone! Now you fuck 70% of your user base to please the other 30%.

I don't even think I'm gonna waste my time downloading the client which will take one week due to that cheap client updater!

Waste of my time. Gonna give a try now when you guys see that THERE ARE SOLO/duo players and WE NEED SOME LOVE! Adjustments are fine, but this new direction you guys are going, is a one way to nowhere!

Clearly we can judge the impact these changes have by just reading the patch notes...

If you take the time to read the patching notes you would too... Unless you have a tank, one dedicated buffer, 2-3 dedicated healers, and the rest DD's for a instanced raid/nm fight, yeah, I'm mad. Seems they didnt even played the game solo/duo before nerfing the classes. Yeah, maybe running a bot party like many I see nowadays, have it's perks now.

I don't care if you solo/duo its an mmo, meant to played with people just saying. The general changes have also ruined party content though and that's what's important here. MP cost is high, hate is questionable, and conjurer is shitty on range. So quit and no one will care, we're right behind you probably.

they nerfed everyone with this, and even if they just nerfed mages, that means they are nerfing parties. I mean i could use some balance, but Id like to see how long you can chain xp, when your mage has a huge cost increase for every spell, and no means of lowering it.

I really hope they improved targeting greatly, because since you are going to have to single target all the time, targeting is really important.

Yes, my point was, you dont need to mess with a category of players which make 70% of users to please another. I didn't hear solo / duo players complaining. Only big clans and party teams. Fix their problem with extra content related to them. Now you have both sides displeased because I am sure even a full party will get owned due to this ridiculous mp nerf. I know no one care if I quit, but the company will and that part was meant for them.

Nerfed for good reasons IMO. Obviously if you plan to promote group play, then you need to have everyone of equal potency within parties, and have exclusive limitations that make party play, more strategic.

Be smart about MP now, that's all you need to do..

what is stupid is that conj can still equip almost all THM spells. Now there is nothing a CONj cannot do and a thm can only dd/enfeeble. They have removed the need for a THM and left us with a healer with a crappy range.

Mages were already nerfed regarding area damage, since we had to pull non linked enemies one by one to get xp. No one would blast multiples enemies and get no xp. The reality is the mp would go down easily before, I can't even imagine a heal cost 5x worse will do. Now when I play my warrior class, I can heal once and zeroe the mp. Awesome! I wonder why they didn't mention the nerf before teasing us with new content while the gameplay got even worse...

You can promote group play as much as you want, but if you don't have rl time to spend in a group, that won't help. In the end we work and have few time to enjoy the game. Promoting group play won't make anyone playing solo, play group, because of rl lack of time to change that behavior. And they say a regional quest which was nerfed and will only activate in cities that the guild is stablished is the awesome idea of " we didn't forget solo players" which I read in a letter they wrote little time ago. Good joke... When we have an airship and not anima pts, I will cOnsider traveling for them..

Everyone got nerfed. Not only solo/duo.
You just have to think more about what you are doing. Thats all.
And it makes a really, really easy game a bit more of a challenge.

I say this and i played my THM and CON 90% of the time solo/duo and I'm perfectly fine with the changes.

now we can think carefully of what the team need to be composed of , what ability to use etc...

Easiness of the game? As far as I know, you can choose difficulty in some quests. I agree that with a party of 8 isn't much of a challenge, but you can always hit some lvl 99 enemies around if you want challenge. Plus, I don't get the spamming thinking, becauseI have 30 skills in my bar and I dont just use one.. ;) Oh, I forgot to say, but I'm sure I did much more thinking soloing/ duoing than most of you with a party of 8. Nothing personal. When you have time to play 18 ours, any game is fast paced my son ;)

Everything was nerfed all around. They made melee jobs dull by taking away their alternate normal attack and adding more time to recast on the other. Fun watching my character do nothing and me sitting there wasting life.

Yes, I saw that. I will admit that I went right to the mages nerfs , then later to the warrior nerfs. All in all, they made mages umplayable and warriors stupidly slow. Guess that until they re-fix this shitty gameplay patch with decent mp spendture and decent warrior speed, we better all play some YouTube videos of how good gameplay was and we didn't appreciate. Either, roll back both changes or give us mana stone and haste skill.. Which I doubt they will..

Anything but this current gameplay..

It still fast paced to me. Maybe if you don't stick yourself chalk full of buffs, there's more active skills to use.

The fact they kept your zero-point skills around at 60seconds means a lot. 3 hits and already full TP.

I am only able to cure 10 times then I have to watch my fellow members die because I am useless! I feel terrible that I cannot do anything to help them! How am I supposed to be smart about mp usage? I used to use siphon mp aoe'd to be able to recoup mp. Now I cannot even do that! I was heavily nerfed in this patch. I have been with this game since it was released, but I feel this will drive me away from it completely!

Using cure feels useless with this high of an MP cost. You're digging your own grave using it or not.

I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with you Noir. They have utterly ruined the game for anyone who felt like an accomplished mage before. Ok, so yeah, maybe the fact that THM could go out and solo most of the NM's was OP. But so what? I mean, their cure for that was to hit mages with a barrage of nerfs? And it isn't even about solo/duoing. I was just in a party of 3 50's taking on Cactuar Jack, and we all ran out of MP. And they made Siphon Mp a single target only spell, so there's no way to get it back while fighting. That is going to have a huge impact on raids and endgame parties. I get that they don't want the game to be too easy, but to have to micromanage everything to the point where one or two mistakes in a fight can ruin the entire experience...That's just ludicrous. I motion for them to lower the spells back to their regular mp cost, make siphon mp aoe again, put a trait for sale at the guilds for mp regen, or a combination of 2 of these. Otherwise, it just isn't fun to play a mage. And if no one wants to play a mage, who is going to heal you?

We just ran through the Darkhold, and with 2 mages never-ever ran out of MP.
We weren't even close to. Hint: Sometimes a cure 2 will do instead of a cura-ga 2
if you kindly suggest your tanks actually USE the regenerative abilities they have at their disposal...

You said it right. You just ran a darkhold full party lvl 50 full equipped with the best equipments. You guys prolly had 6 melees and two mages. Great for you. Now you can farm as long as you want. I regret to tell you, that soloing, duo, trio, just doesn't work meaningfully in this game anymore. They wanted to please 30% of big clans and people with plenty of time to form parties, and spend 18 hours ventrilo. Great. They acOmplished that. What about the other 70% of userbase that doesn't have that time and just want to play solo and have some result? Or play with a brother in a duo? The reality is that this patch will cost them a lot. I bet that people are waiting for th next patch to readjust the mages mp and slow pace of melee. If nothing change, then Its time to say goodbye. If people wanted to have to play in a partie and belong to big clans 90% of the time, they would be playing lineage not ffxiv which was said to be solo friendly and not time consuming specially when you have to work to pay for the fees. When you start the pay to play, don't expect us 70% to stay and wait every 5min to sit to regen mp, and that, if you can actually kill anything since 3 spells and 3 heals leaves you dead if the enemy is alive. Maybe you can use normal attack. Yeah! 10 seconds or 30 seconds wait. Yes, using strategy you could solo few nm with one or two classes before the 1.18, buts that's expception to the rule as you need faction points to do that and stray nm are farmed 24/7 by clans. Create new content like the ones you did for the big clans, ie dungeons etc, but don't fuck with the other 70% to achieve that.

Sounds like they made end game challenging to me, which is kinda what i was hoping for, now we will have to use food and potions etc. for hard fights, which to me is kinda the point , end game should be hard.

Use potions, for both melee and mages. 1.18 indicates pretty clearly you are meant to use these now.
-> Rewards with potions went from 1 to 5.
-> Cheaply available from Companies
The supply from alchemists should match the demand when people realizes this.

Using gamepad, explain how magically will you be able to use potion? Maybe I should ask the mob to wait till I pull my keyboard, grab the mouse , click the bag, click thE pot, select myself, and use it. Make potion useable first. The way it is doesn't work. And this macro system is so Hic up that doesn't work most of the time when you are being hit.

As for the auto-attack DoW part, they are going to fix it...at least they are planning to and i hope they do it quick.

I haven't play End-game at the moment since i don't have high-ranked class, but at low ranks the only classes that you can do something to deal damage without the dull Auto-attack are COJ and ARC (haven't tried THM) where you actually control when you deal damage and not get screwed when your auto-attack miss and stay TP-less.

I think they released this patch as a testing phase for the new Battle Mechanics and to balance the costs and damage of your abilities, the thing that made me get this though is that they only Implemented the core mechanic for Auto Attack and nothing more (increasing the damage depending on the weapon itself to balance it with the delay).

ok i totally understanding your anger as a solo/duo/trio-er. however i do believe yoshi will do some tweeks also remember physical level will soon be abolished thus meaning changes to classes, such as more balance. now i don't know if you played 11 but you couldn't effectively party or anything with a red mage, now i believe a refresh element will be implemented however in the mean time for solo-ers there's quests all over eorizia however you spell it, granting exp rewards which totally makes me happy. i do believe the game was way to easy before people have everything 50 within a year, does that not tell you something? i understand they have no life (no offence) but in an imo you can't expect to be r50 so fast playing alone. unless your like a bst in 11, but even 11 took time to balance out and so will 14, i recently took a break and returned for this patch and i'm pleased i can't solo nearly everything as a mrd/thm skill set, again understand your disappointment but things will straighten up soon. in the mean time log mine fish craft before the economy crashes if your not pleased with DoW/DoM

You can macro this, I believe. /item "Potion Name" <me> or similar should do the trick.
