Seriously guys what the hell is going on with the community? i leave for a few months and come back to find that NOBODY COMMUNICATES, seriously every server i have been on (created multiple new characters to test this) chat is dead meaning i cant find a new guild even after spamming shout, i WOULD move to another server, like any other server even the na ones because they have more people but that would require me to leave my lvl 50 almost full af2 bard behind and unless a guild gives me a REALLY good offer i dont want to do that tbh, it feels like i am playing a single player game and its getting depressing, come on guys, where did the "multiplayer" part of mmo go?

Hi, um... I think I kind of agree. People are way less social in this game since release. I really mainly play these games to chat with people and the last few months, it's not happening as much. While I do have a few friends I talk to, there really isn't a lot of talking going on otherwise anymore. I remember the first few months, there were shouts to do things, FCs that actively recruited new members and stuff. While that stuff still happens, it's not nearly as much. Even FC members just log in to do their dailies perhaps but, maybe don't even say hi. I don't blame them, I really haven't been talking much myself. I don't really know what happened.
I know Yoshi-P supposedly said in a interview that we could treat our fellow players like helpful NPCs or something, maybe the community took that to heart. :P -

There is no reason to communicate via shout. There is PF for forming parties, FC chat for talking with friends, LS chat for talking with friends or about something specific (coil, primals, etc). Honestly, what do you expect people to say in these shout channels...? It seems perfectly fine to me. There is nothing more annoying than two people carrying out a conversation in shout instead of /tell.

We are currently in pre patch burnout phase. Happens in every MMO. People arent playing, and one who do are doing mindless activity like tome or atma grinding. So people dont have their brains turned on.
Come back at release of 2.3 and you will see community come back to life. -

Most of the time I talk in TS, FC or my LS chats. I don't often strike up random conversations in shout. I bet if I did try to chat in shout someone would ask us to take it to /tell.
Either way, whenever I log in I always see multiple chats going on. There is no lack of social interaction. -

The reason is pretty much PF. Everything is done via PF nowadays. Everything from Speedruns to FC recruitment. For both good and bad. I really like open conversations, but I like that the "FC LF BRD" and "BLM LF T1" shouts have died out. Now it is actually possible to talk with someone while in Mordor <___<

All the chit-chat happens in LS/FC now. On my old EU server Shout chat was pretty busy, people shouting for raids, people recruiting for social and raiding FCs/LS... was always busy, especially at peak times.

I think perhaps the biggest issue is that they haven't implemented a "general chat". They have /shout /yell /say, but you don't really wanna use any of those just to have a casual chat. We need some sort of chat that allows us to communicate at a regular basis without having the feeling that we are "bothering" everyone else. Face it, you don't normally use /shout to ask people how their day was or something if it wasn't strictly necessary. I would feel uncomfortable using the /shout chat, simply because it's not suited for that kind of stuff.
Give us a /general or a /all chat which we can have casually, and not to mention allow it to reach across all of the world so that people don't miss the chat soon as they tp from gridania to ul'dah.
- As for now, I'm sticking with the FC chat. At least there i can talk with people about everything. -

I'm also from Balmung - I run a very active FC - Laevis Amici - even at off hours (like early AM NA) there are always 3-4 people around. During peak hours we usually have 20+ people on peaking at around 40+ on our busiest raid nights when all 4 current raid groups overlap (Shameless plug - we are looking at possibly starting a 5th group later this month). Now mind you - between FC chat, TS, and/or various Linkshells - everyone is usually talking but not necessarily on the channel/medium your on with them :)
I've found that when a lot of people are on TS - FC and Linkshell chat has a tendency to get quiet - even though these are active people - and vise-versa when people are not on TS the FC/Linkshell chatter picks up.
Though our FC is progression focused we have a number of people who are really into RP - and have a number of former members who left on good terms (and retain contact with us) to join RP FC's :) -
