Weeks? Lol. It's been happening from the same ones to me since the start of the game.
Making it a quest ability won't change anything as the spammers can do quests. I see them even queuing up for dungeons together.
Minor annoyance at best. Bots already grind all the way to 50 then grind dungeons for easy mob gil. I don't see how making a quest is supposed to stop them.
What they need to do is add a Report Gil Seller right under the Blacklist Player. When a player gets reported X amount of times by different players, I think it would be a legit red flag where GMs and Dev can take quicker actions.
I actually went into my general options and shut off the tell, because I find it totally useless now, even though I might miss a tell from a friend or miss out on treasure hunts, its better not to get spammed 100+ times with the same message.
I am sick of deleting 200 black listed people, then adding them back with in a week and its a extra chore.
So I just shut off the tells forever till SE fixes the problem I probably wont ever turn it back on, if they begin to shout non stop, I will probably do the same thing because its ruining my experience.
Add Captcha codes to every tell.
lol!
@thread
seriously tho.. simple limit on number of /t a person can send per minute should help drastically. alternately, allowing us to use a whitelist if we choose to, fixes the problem completely.
another thing: it is a shame they made us pay in gil for housing; FC credits should have been used. there was less use or need for gil in the game prior to housing. i'm sure rmt loves housing.
edit:
They added limit to the number of tells a person can send! Thanks for this SE, I have noticed a vast improvement in-game with regards to RMT /t.
The problem with these suggestions is that people assume RMT are booger licking, mentally challenged. When they're usually smart/experienced programmers. Just because you had an experience with a "dumb" bot doesn't mean the people running it can't figure a way around some stupid quest.
just blacklist them =.=
Make /tells Lv 15
You should have to farm Atma to send tells. :)
square enix should just start selling gil on their own , that would kill all the shady RMT's and help fund the game to become even better at the same time :D
Maybe so but, what can you really buy that would help you "win"? A FC house isn't going to get someone a turn 9 kill... buying the best crafted gear available and/or food/potions isn't going to do that either.
Money in this game is really just an annoyance. The only game people can "win" by having gil is the "I am rich" game....
I agree however it would wreck any kind of economy we have if square allowed people to buy gil on mogstation or something. How healthy is our economy really as it is though? Only people that get rich are the people that undercut auctions super frequent. It's not like any commodity in this game is hard to come by or rare. There is always another person willing to sell something for cheaper because stuff is just that widely available.
If we kill /tell, they'll just go back to mass /shout.
I do not miss that. Not at all....
Losing /tell would be a total pain, as I have a few friends in the server that belong to other FCs and aren't RP'ers, so aren't in any of the same Linkshells. If I want to say hello and see what they are up to, /tell is the best method.
One of a limited amount of houses.
Crafting material sweeps.
Teleports anywhere.
Repairs at the wave of a hand.
In game bribery.
And as a base concept, I don't like the idea of shifting game balance because some of the players are paying more to get an advantage. I prefer us all to be on equal ground and show ourselves what we can do by simply playing the game as it is.
Those things are all well and good, and LOL at "In game bribery" but still, do any of those things help you "win"? I guess in a sense of the real world, having a nice house and stuff is considered a "win" so maybe you got me there.
In a sense of completing content and watching cutscenes you haven't seen yet, I don't think money really helps with that. Sure repairs but, have you ever known anyone so broke they couldn't repair... Well maybe I can remember an instance of that happening once or twice. :P But that was more of a issue of poor money management instead of buying a "win"... Throwing money at that kind of problem (poor money management) isn't going to make it better... lol
These Gil spammer tells get worse when the game is on sale.. . I wonder if that has something to do with it.
Because gil sellers won't know how to do a quest that would clearly be available from the moment you start your character?
Or maybe make it level limited so you need level 5 or something? Right because RMT can't gain 5 levels?
These suggestions will not lead to a solution and would only hinder legitimate players.
You wont get rid of them anytime... many tried, many failed.
I´d just like some comfort in it...
one, I created myself, by a Macro blacklisting my last /tell... done in 2 clicks...
Now what would be nice - make reporting easier* - something which comes within a context menu would be nice.
erase reported and guilty characters** and automatically remove them from my (and others) blacklist...
until then, I will fill up my blacklist, never will care to clean it out, and finally disabling /tell in my chat completely...
* Support Menu just takes way to long to load....
** which i guess won´t happen, cause it would look bad in subscription statistics *gg*
that macro will only work until you reach 200 (which i reach moths ago) , then you will have manually remove one spammer for each new you add , not sure if that can be macro's , hence im suggestin give us atleast 1000 spammer slots in blacklist , as a paying customer id like to not having to go through such hassle just to protect myself from spams
