[Suggestion] Sync players to minimal level on duties

I'd suggest, when a player have a level higher than max allowed on a duty, s/he being synced not to the max level, but to the min level of the duty, for the following reasons:

• High level synced players makes the duty too much easy and the new player hardly learns anything doing that, most likely he will be carried on;
• New tanks haven't any chance to hold aggro against the above players;
• High level synced complaining about those duties too much easy, here get served little more difficulty :) ;

I agree with you on the reasons why, I'm just not sure if this is the proper way to go about it. I think the commendation section needs to be revamped honestly. "Why are you commending this person? Was helpful. Was fun. Was good. etc." Then if each had unique rewards, people would be more apt to take things slower for new people, or so I hope anyways. We already toss commendations around like candy I guess...

Anyways, even if you make it the minimum, I don't think that solves the issue, even if I do agree it's something that should be looked into.

The sync we currently have is enough IMO. With all these syncs might as well remove lvl altogether... When you beat content once on low lvl and then beat it faster on higher lvl it gives a sense of getting stronger and progressing...

Every instance is the same gaming experience anyway, not like it's anything random, so if we're doomed to replay the same movie time and time again might as well fast forward...

It will be great say also your motivations. But maybe you haven't done, because your reasons are so obvious that there is no need to tell us. If that so, there is also no need to reply in first place with an one-liner.

Anyway, the suggest were more for put attention on the fact about mixing new players and synced players on duties. More the game progress, more the situation will be worse: already there is people who goes to solo duties for the lol of to do that, in face of the party players with them.

Being 3 lvls higher than others on a level synced low dungeon will not make much difference. High lvl players will perform better than low level new players just because they have more experience with their jobs and higher-end content. So syncing 2-3 levels lower will not do much.

unless you want the high level people to completely abandon low lvl roulette, leave it as is.

If you're asking this, just ask SE to eliminate min~max levels period. Ask for them just to put in a single level that you can start the dungeon at, and be sync to that level if you're over it.

Not that I agree with your idea or my own suggestion; but, if you're asking for something like this, my suggestion would be more fair to the players-base as a whole.

It's not hard to carry players through the majority of duties, synced or not. It's a matter of difficulty curve in the dungeons themselves that causes this problem, and the fact that basically everything pre-Titan it's entirely possible you won't know how much you suck until you are suddenly wiped.

False. 2-3 levels of difference has extremely minimal on the ability to handle aggro - but player skill will have a huge impact. I've barely had issues maintaining aggro when going into a dungeon at minimal level and slightly undergeared; and I can say about 75-90% of the times I have lost aggro has been due to two DPS going all out on separate targets instead of focusing one, which frankly will be a problem for any tank to face (albeit not an insurmountable one). The tanks I have seen have serious aggro issues have far greater issues with a just general lack of understanding of their role and the tools they have.

This problem is exasperated in level 50 dungeons to a very real thing, however - I was having to seriously dumb down my rotation to not steal aggro from my fresh-50 tank friend during WP/AK when I went in as my i93 Monk self. But that's a massive gear difference, and a case for iLvl sync in level 50 content, not the 2-3 level difference between minimal level and level synced.

2-3 levels doesn't make things any more difficult. Generally speaking, it just makes them slower. The dungeons were entirely designed to be handled reasonably at the level they allow entry at. This is, again, more a case for iLvl sync in level 50 content rather than adjusting low level duties.

A competent healer will carry players through the whopping majority of <50 content, especially everything pre-Titan. Two levels of EXP is not going to make a difference in this respect.

Hell, to be frank, a good healer carries people through >50 content, too.

Losing 2 or 3 more levels when you get synced won't make the dungeon harder, it'll just make it take longer and make it even more boring because you could lose another skill. No thanks.

high level players make it easier because they have likely run that place 100 times. The gear is synced down to being good gear for the level but still, knowing the place because you ran it 30+ times.

I see where you're coming from. I think it's gear/ilvl that is the culprit though. Even though it's supposedly synced down in dungeons, players in high level gear regularly pull aggro off a non-synced tank. And sometimes I wonder if the tank losing aggro so easily is what causes most of the rage in dungeons. :(

It is actually synced down. It's pulled down to roughly [level sync -1], and actually a bit worse than that.

Now, of course, if they're getting gear synced to ~36, but the tank's still running level 23 gear, then hell, not much that can be done about that, and a couple more levels dropped won't fix that.

A tank who drops hate in low level dungeons is generally either
A. significantly undergeared for what they're taking on (I'm not talking like 3 or 4, I mean 10+),
B. has DPS who are deliberately (or through ignorance) stealing aggro by attacking off targets, or
C. has made some mistake in their play, such as not using enough AoE or ignoring targets in longer fights.

These are not fixed through a couple levels change on the remainder of the party.

There is a logic error.
In the suggestion of the OP someone who get level-synched get a lower level than the one who hit exactly the max. level of the content.

Say a level 16 dungeon with max. level 20
A lv 20 tank do it and keep level 20
A lv 21 tank do it and get level-synched to level 16, make the dungeon for him harder again only because he got a level up.

The level sync is fine as it is. People are already crying about wanting more unlocked skills enabled etc. Smoother run for the newbies or lower level players is not a problem.

Grabbing aggro from tanks is nuisance to the tanks, and I played thru that situation leveling my alt PLD. I know all about that now, but still I wouldn't want a min level sync, since I don't need to make more gimpy for my healer or DPS. Also once I understood the situation, I was happy to let the dps who don't know how to self regulate their aggro have their mob and eat it. It actually makes the tank work load easier, if they like doing that, and put in a topaz or titan helps too, for the tank that is happy to be lazy.

What they should add is a Skill-Sync feature. So bad players can be synced to the skill level of good players.

More unlocked skills will worsen the difference between a synced and a new player in duty, I guess the few people crying for that on that specific thread, are doing it just because they want end the duty more faster and nothing else.

Anyway, it is obvious that i90-synced players will have too much edge even when synced, and not true it is only player skill difference: when leveling my other tank job I had troubles with them, and when being myself the i90 synced, I found that content threefold more easier to do than when done my first time.

I am thinking the "sync" done to armor and character is still too much forgiving and the synced player still have the edge above another not "synced" player with maxed armor for his level.

Better suggestion: up the max-level sync by 2, increase the stat reduction slightly.

This way, more abilities = more fun in lowbie dungeons.

What if you are level 20 unsynced and the dungeon level is between 17~20? When you level up in that dungeon to 21, then wouldn't that drop your level to 17 because your level just entered the sync limit?

Not sustainable in the long run.

Right now one of the main motivation is the exp you get from completing low level roulette, but as more and more people hit 50 on all the class they wanted to play, that 60 mythology isn't going to convince anyone to run the roulette if it is going to be slow.

Run a Brayflox in sub-10min for 50 myth, or sit through 30+ min on a low level dungeon.

And by the way a lot of the high level gear sucks when synced down, unsync'd green/pink gear will give you more stats.

2 Reasons for a nope that that.

First many of theses Low Level Dungeons are hard to make it when you are under the Max (Snyc-)Level. As great exsample can we take Cutters Cry. Till 40 (what is the max Level for that Dungeon) you struggle very hard as PLD Tank against DPS what are allready 40 and have their Perk for that Level. The list goes on with many other exsampels. So better don't change it.

TZhe Second reason is you allready lose the feeling of being strong from you down Sync to a certain Level. Are you ever tried to make the Lvl 10/11 Guildhest with 50. You feel that something is missing. So nope also in that point.
