Error 2002

I keep getting error 2002: The lobby server connection has encountered an error.

What does it mean? I've contacted support and had no answer so far.

Its a connection error. You can look it up and depending on what system you have itll give u a troubleshooting method. Ive had error 2002 for almost 3 weeks nd I haven't been able to play even when using the troubleshooting method provided to me by square enix. I can't promise itll work but I hope you don't have what I have nd that you'll be able to play without flaw unlike me...

Just look at all the threads in this section of the forum. Trust me you're not alone i havent been able to play for almost 2 months. no word from square no nothing. i paid for 6 months and wasted 2.

I can tell u guys this much im not paying anymore for something I cant play. Its sad nd ridiculous for such an amazing game like this to be unplayable for myself nd others with the same issues. Its not right and its not fair to us. I hope to god this gets resolved soon I want to be able to play on this asap

I just bought a Playstation 4 yesterday and upgraded the game to the PS4 version. I wish I had looked at these forums first. The game ran just fine on my PS3, and now I'm having the same problem all of you are. Error 2002, error 90K, error 10105... I can't play at all now. From what I've seen around here, this problem has been here for close to two months now with no real resolution.
Square Enix, please... you've gained back so much of my respect lately. Don't lose it now by leaving us out in the cold...

Hey, I just wanted to throw out there that, for giggles, I tried hooking my PS4 up with an ethernet cable instead of going wireless, and it's now running for me just fine. I've been playing for more than an hour without being disconnected or even lagging. So, the problem may not necessarily be Square Enix's after all, maybe it's some kind of issue with Sony's system, or... or I don't know. But for me, that did fix the problem, even though needing to use an ethernet cable is a bit of a pain.

Well i can't run a ethernet cable through my home. due to the location of the router and my set up. its not possible. Not to mention this same issue has been occurring to not only predominately ps4 players but ps3 and PC players have been getting this but as well. Im glad you got your connection resolved but the rest of us are just doomed.

What's annoying is that error 2002 has some significant meaning and since I don't really know what it MEANS, I don't get a hint about how to deal with the problem myself. This problem has come up before ( check "resolved threads" BTW mod, just because a topic has died down doesn't mean it is resolved). I've read that people can log in from different computers over the same network, but one computer won't be logging in properly. It sounds like the problem might be centered around specific consoles/computers in relation with the internet connection being used.

Edit: I redacted the question about the refund. Anyway, I solved my problem. But I did the steps too quickly to isolate the issue so I'll try to recreate it. I uninstalled Avast, which didn't change the outcome of attempting to log in. I also changed my firewall settings on the router. The fact that anything could be the problem, I then tried to Reset System Settings in the launcher. This worked.
Edit 2: So, it was two things. My routers firewall does not play nice with FFXIV anymore. Also, Resetting to Default is a good idea. I didn't get the client working until I tried both.
For other people the issues may be different so your mileage will vary.

I experiencing the 2002 as of tonight. I started trying around 6 pm PDT and its currently 7:30 pm PDT. One thing I've noticed is that while I get the lobby server error on my PS4, my laptop (Windows 8) is able to connect without issue. This is starting to look like an issue with SE as opposed to my ISP. However, for completeness:

Location: Salem, Oregon, USA

I've been encountering erratic issues for the past week, and this is the first time I've thought to use the laptop.

I was able to connect tonight at 8:10 pm PDT from the ps4. This was without rebooting the ps4, router or anything. I walked away from it around 7:30 (after doing a few things from the laptop) and it worked when I returned to the room. So nothing changed (as far as I'm aware) with my setup or local devices.

Error 2002...will I get to play today?

Might be isolated to me, but I'm leaning either way on this.. Just posting this as an FYI in case I'm not alone and maintenance doesn't resolve issue. I was able to log in as recently at 8am this morning.

In the lobby, I can connect to Elemental, Gaia, Mana, Aether, and Chaos Data Centers just fine, but I am getting 2002 when trying to connect to the Primal Data Center with a 100.2.29.X IP Address (FIOS in NYC). Friends in the neighborhood with the same ISP and Data Center can get on just fine... I even went so far as to successfully create a character and start playing on Mateus (Aether Data Center). ICMP is in no way indicative over higher-level IP Traffic, but I was able to successfully send a ping from my PC to the Excalibur server..

Reactivated my account today, can't access any of the data centers. Constant error 2002.. Already regretting my decision to return.

I've been getting this error again for a full week Now. it had gone away for a month now it's back to not allowing me to play anymore.

I was playing happy as can be, moved to a new apartment and it's been error 2002 for the last month and change. I gave the game full permissions with my firewall and several other MMO's work hunkey-dorey all day, everyday. I have now wasted five weeks or so of sub time out of the three on this billing cycle. I'm very sad about this and do not plan to re-up at the end since I refuse to pay if I can't play. /cry

Am still getting the "2002" has anyone figured out what the problem is or anything? Just got the pre paid card and started it up but now i cant play

I'm also having this issue... I can't log into either the NA and EU servers. Only place I can go is in the Japan servers. Square-Enix could you please let us know what going on? I try to check the lodestones and your Twitter page to see if there any news about this problem, but there none so whatever about the issue. I have other friends also experiencing this issue as well. I am getting this today and wanted to make sure this forum was updated.

Getting a vicious cycle of game "lagging" into a 90k error disconnection, into 2002 error multiple times when I try to log back in. Absolutely unplayable, can't do anything at all.

After the server-maintenance yesterday, I keep getting error 2002. I tried port forwarding, firewall and antivirus deactivation but nothing seems to work... Please fix this SE, I bought the game on Wednesday and this is quite an unpleasing experience :/

Game was working fine, Now after the recent update i get 90k's and 2002's again. Fix this please.

I have the same issue. I had no problem getting into the game until the last patch. After that, I continue to get a 2002 error once I try to log in to my server. This needs to be fixed!!!

I am connected with an ethernet and getting this error as well. I doubt it would help.

My daughter's been having problems for over a week now on her PS3 account where she get booted every 15-20 minutes consistently. It makes the game unplayable, not to mention how this affects any instances she try to play. If this isn't fixed soon she'll have to cancel her sub until it's resolved.

When FFXIV:ARR early access started I got constant lobby server 5006 and 2002 for the entire EA. IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.

I have had maybe a dozen of these over the course of the last 22 months. Today in the morning [10am pst] I got into game and stayed in right up until around 6pm, then in the middle of a class quest boom game crashes and ever since I've received a non stop lobby error of either 5006 or 2002 on JUST AETHER and Primal data centers. I can connect to all the others in the blink of an eye...

Have followed all the supposed fixes to no avail. Please fix this.

My boyfriend and I are also getting the same error as well and have been all day today and last night. Have not been able to play the game for more than a couple minutes. 'Early Access' is starting to go far south with me now.

At least I came in with low expectations of being able to play! Time to mindlessly kill shit in Dynasty Warriors 8..:rolleyes:

I got error 2002 this afternoon. I think the lobby center is full. I tried switching data centers for a bit and then switching back to mine and was able to log in. If you get a queue that doesn't move, I also had that as well. After switching the data centers I was ok. May not work for everyone though. Annoying too.

Impossible to log in!!!!!! just 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant log into any data center, this is just very lame.

Been trying to connect most of today. Error 2002/5006 on Aether and Primal data centers

Honestly, I don't think these really do anything other than retry connections to the data centers. Getting in is just random/luck at this point.

I can't connect to north american data centers

Japan data centers work just fine.....but my characters are on aether I can't play!!!

It sucks that I have to wait for the actual release of the due to my code not working, horribly long que wait for support.. and now I cant do anything including my dailies... because I cant log on. Its 2.0 all over again

you all must be mad but unlike me y'all wasn't in the middle of the cut scenes at the end of 2.4.55....
