What changes would make you quit FFXIV?

Not all changes are to everyone's liking. And I know there has not been universal appeal for even the changes made so far.

So my question is what features of FFXIV are you attached to and would you quit if Yoshi cut them?

Things I don't want them to change/remove:

• Being able to equip any gear at any level

This would be a perfect system if the algorithm used to scale gear according to optimal rank actually worked or made itself more apparent. So far there seems to be the complaint that you can wear whatever and get away with it. So this system needs tweaking. But having said that, it is really important for a game where you can swap classes at any given time or if you just want to dress up. People who want to marry restrictions and rules seem to hate this system, but I so don't their point. Do you?

• Armory system

I don't get why they seem to be phasing this out with the job system. It seemed like the strongest feature of the game besides the graphics. Yet they are trying to downplay it or are at the very least under-utilising it now that the focus has changed to advanced-classes (which is basically what the jobs are).

• Player-driven economy

I think this is one of the most important aspects of the game because it shows SE's commitment to community. An MMO shouldn't be about just doing content in a vacuum or only with your linkshell. It should be about the world at large, and contributing to that. In FFXIV crafters really earn a reputation for themselves if they are active members of society, and so does everyone else. It facilitates interactions between players. Especially at the beginning of the game when there was no search feature!

• Collision Detection

Oh wait, too late.

• Interesting mob behaviours

Oh wait, too late.

• "Action-based combat where position matters"

Oh wait, too late.

You're confusing. You go from posting something that makes sense and I agree with, then you post rubbish like this that is nothing but whining for the sake of whining.

I would quit if they turned FFXIV into old school pong. There is just so much of that i can do before I am bored.

I would quit if they made you a dev.

I would quit if they took the official forums down. It would be a shame to lose people who don't even know what they want :(

Guys, it was a simple question. I mean, if it's so hard to answer a simple question, say so.

If the initial game didn't make you quit then nothing will.

In answer to the question posed in the thread's subject:

I would quit the game if SE decided to end the free trial and the game still sucked.

From a purely objective standpoint, I don't see why you have so many grievances with someone expressing their opinion.

To clarify (in case you missed it), I am of the opinion that FFXIV is discarding too many features that were assets to the game itself. For all the good they do adding features, they do just as much bad deleting some.

The landscape of the game is changing and it is indeed false advertising if it persists this way. When you cannot even claim to have the same features discussed on www.finalfantasyxiv.com nor even the same inclination to improve them or head in the same direction, then something is wrong with the game's identity.

Well everyone seems to bring a lot of personal bias toward my threads purely because I write them rather than responding to them in a polite, professional manner. Which is what I would expect.

Gotta say...I've thought about it, and while the verdict is still out on auto-attack until 1.18 goes live and I see it for myself, I can't think of anything either.

They're not getting rid of the Amoury system. dis is a misconception.

I would quit if they bring back dumb ass stuff such as 24hour NMs, 72hour instanced/events cooldowns, pretty much anything that lenghthen contents by streching cooldowns because they cant be arse'd to make difficult contents or fasten up the pace of content release.

I dont care if they take it all down and rebuild im not attached to anything at all.But ill dig if next patches show some real progress.I know you liked the game old direction but its long gone.I moved on from that , so lets see what game we turn out with in a few days.

When they start charging monthly.

I'm riding it out and watching the progression to see if my position about that ever changes. I'm not seeing the scenario where I think "I'll gladly pay monthly for this" yet.

If the game has not improved enough whenever they start charging a monthly fee. Then i will quit.

I will quit if they forget to add restrictions to equipment so people who want to play dress up can't do so anymore.

I will quit if they keep to the current armory system and not implement a new job system that resembles FFXI's.

I will quit if SE doesn't make a new board and name it "Complaints and Misc."

There's only 2 things that would make me quit outright.

1. They start charging before fixing the payment system.

2. They start banning bots but don't do it retroactively to ban everyone who has been botting already. I want a mass banning of bots sometime soon or it just won't be worth playing for me.


Anything to do with the gameplay or content is fine with me as we can just adapt to the new systems and move on.

In all honesty, I would quit if they turned the game into FFXI-2. So far whether or not they will remains to be seen.

I'm just curious... If said changes would make you quit and you've admitted, in fact, they have changed then why are you still here OP? Do all of the things you listed have to be changed to make you quit, or are you currently sitting on 50% having quit?

To answer the OP question: What would make me quit the game is if crafter classes were removed from the game and crafting simply became a battle class pastime.

what would make me quit honestly? A completely rollback and restart of character progression.

But the thing that would upset me the most is if they turn this game into the same template every other mmo has just with the final fantasy name to it.

I'll quit if subligar can't be improved by materia crafting.

If they start charging money before the game's ready.
