BLM in Leviathan...
So, I'm pretty sure I know BLM pretty well (50 since early Oct). I'm i91 and was told that my damage was subpar for the 350+ I should be getting without thundercloud or firestarter. That could be true, I can't parse due to being on PS3. I was wondering if anyone could give me some hints then on how to BLM against Leviathan. I admit that he seems to be the hardest fight for me on BLM due to the pretty constant phase switching.
Thanks in advance!

If you get 350+ on Leviathan you should be giving tips to other people. Seeing as you are iLVL 91 and I parse 340 DPS on a dummy with iLVL 99 (nothing wrong with my rotation) I can not stop but wonder how do you do it? I really try and find the reasoning behind it. The Black Mage does not have DPS that is static. You need to be casting constantly. Leviathan just jumps places and your DPS always plummets. So please, enlighten me on how the most pro of Black Mages do 380DPS on a static fight and you only do 30 DPS less on a highly mobile fight. I hate to break it to you, the people who said your damage is 350+ were probably trying to make you feel better.
Also, I might be reading this wrong, but are you not using thunder or - fireprocs? So you are telling me that you hit for 700 - 750 every 2,37 seconds and then weak blizzard III AND then you restart. What you say is simply impossible.

Whoever told you 350+ without thundercloud or firestarter is ridiculous, esp if phases aren't getting skipped. Aside from the general BLM advice of moving just enough to dodge the jumps while still dpsing spumes, here are a few tips that might help.
1) Aetherial Manipulation during slam to your closest target. You'll just teleport to them and won't get knocked pushed to the end of the raft.
2) Blizz3 -> T2 head, T2 tail -> F3. Basically adding in an extra thunder onto the tail for more TS procs when you switch between AF3 and UI3.
3) If the tank(s) can pull the double adds together, and/or bring it to the head/tail, try to get some flares in.
4) During spumes, you might want to put T2 on a few of them. If you get a TS proc make sure you use it on a spume that doesn't have a thunder on them and has reasonable amounts of life left.
5) (Just for fun/Epeen) Flare the blue balls (that explode after a while) that the tank takes a few times. Make sure you pop quelling though!
@Vivi: My understanding of OP is that someone else told him he should be getting 350+, which is absurd at ilvl91 even if he was to do #5 above.

Ah, I read superb instead of subpar! Whoever said that to you is an idiot.

you shouldn't let it bother you too much if you are so confident with your blm. Sometimes, ppl just party with a bard or two and boast they got insane dps

Heya ^^
To me, this game is not intended for the big numbers. It's leaning more towards: You, as a whole team, completed the duty? Then gj, tap on back, and move on.
I loved let's say.. FFVII where as a solo player you hit hard and you see BIG numbers! (in the thousands)
This game.. lol
The dummy's are there for those who wants to see their best combos and to perfect themselves. All good.
When mixed with 7 other people (god forbid 23), anything goes.
If you get down Levi, while everyone is dead except the MT that will shoot a Shield Lob at him to kill it, I doubt I would be tempted to say omg! that Shield Lob make 50dmg I'm hawt!
TL;DR: if you are doing your rotations as what everyone thinks a BLM should be doing, you are fine. Keep having fun ^^

you can't get 350 on blm on levithan. you gotta fiddle with the encounter settings alot to let ANY dps get over 300 on that fight. Leviathan is off the map half the time.

don't listen to those people, mate.
people saying that you have to do 350+ dps as blm there are just retarded.
I guess those are the same that do one fire rota with raging strikes and swiftcast flare and stop their parsing with saying "I parsed xxxdps!!! you all don't know how to play your class!".
-
Could that be dps during each phase, without down time when Levi dived ?
-
I'm pretty sure that the only way to pull that dps is to really retarded stuff like flaring the blue balls, or getting the luckiest string of thunderstarter procs in history, esp if you're in ilvl91 gear. I've parsed 320+ on this fight, but I'm way more geared than OP and I got very lucky with procs already.
Edit: Also we skipped the first two phase jumps as well... I might have been able to hit 350 if there were no jumps period but the last few jumps are not skippable.

At my average in Levi EX, my BLM just barely breaks 210DPS. It's i91 with Elder Staff and a mix of Soldiery and Allagan gear.
Levi is just a bad fight for BLM. I made a thread on here a while back asking advice since my DPS was apparently crap, and two things I was told that helped a lot were to abuse Thunder2 (DOT ALL THE THINGS!) especially when Raging is up, and also to try and have the add tank pull the adds near Levis head and blast all three with Tri-Flare.
What I've since added to that involves abusing the hell out of Swiftcast to restart my Fire/Blizzard IIIs when I lose my buffs instead of my habitual saving them for Flare, and opening the fight with Raging Strikes > Swiftcast Thunder 3. Try to time Thunders so you have it up on Levis head and tail right before he dives. He'll take DOT damage while you're running around dodging, and if you're lucky you can smack him with Thundercloud as he jumps out for the slam. That all is what got me from like 150DPS before to where I am now. Also, listen to the above advice about Aetherial Manipulation. If you teleport with it right as Levi slams down, you won't have to move and can keep casting away.
Good luck!

don't use raging strikes on thundering the orbs that's a waste of it. also you should swift/flair any spum next to the head to finish your rotation.
Don't use swifcast on thunder it's a waste. while everyone else is still being all wobbly from the slam, use AM and cast your thunder then(always keep T3 up on the tail and all procs go to the head, this gives max up time). use scaith religiously, levi can be targeted and hit the second the first pixil of his snout breaches the surface. This isn't enough time to cast a spell but it it enough time to use scaith and AM and not have a cd in the way. Also scaith plums while dodging, you aren't always going to be able to cast before moving so always cast while moving. an extra 300(800+ crit/proc) damage scaith is the same as a smn casting ruin so I never understood why blms don't use it but its super important for smn dps. I had another blm refuse to use sc at all in levi and I parsed a good 15 points over him(at the time he had a stronger wpn(allag/90shl).
I haven't been into levi since i96blm but I averaged 300 on blm and my smn dps goes up about 10 more every couple of fights as I get use to the job and figure out ways to max it out(its up to 286). maybe you don't have enough spell speed? if you're sitting under 400 you're going to have issues getting the max amount of cast off. I'm at 450 and levi goes under as my last spell goes off every time.

My last/best leviathan few weeks ago as i96 was 353. If you get a decent tank that stack adds under the head for double flares + occasionally drop a thunder on the tail you shouldn't be doing less than 280-300. Also aetherial manipulation is pure p0rn on that fight

Sorry for the VERY late reply, I took the advice given in this thread and cleared np! The only issue I've been having has been acc, but using myth body instead of sold body seems to fix that.
