ARC/SMN Unique spell speed buff

so you get this about 20% of the time your pet crits, and you get it for like 8 seconds, and all it does is make your ruin, bio 2 and miasma from 2.50 recast to 2.43 recast, it doesn't seem very useful for something that lasts for like 2-3 casts, and has a 20% chance of happening from a pet crit. Not sure if SCH get it too, but this needs to have a way better use.

What do you propose?

ARC/SMN, as it is, is amazing. Damage is spectacular, excellent mobility, a lot of versatility, just amazing. And then it has a trait that's not super great.

So, what part of ARC are you willing to nerf for a better buff?

I'm just saying compared to other classes that get % chances of stuff when using skills, its too useless, BLMs get thundercloud and procs, WHM get free cures and overcures, BRDs get straighter shot, SMN/SCH just get this spell speed buff.

BLM's run on Procs, and WHM need those procs to stay mana stable (Perhaps need is a bit strong of a word, but it helps a lot).

SMNs don't need procs, at all, to be effective. The spell speed buff is just a freebie buff, because we don't need it. And its effectiveness is based on how much we actually need it.

So, I ask again - what would you change the buff to, and what would you nerf so that it wouldn't give make SMNs even more powerful then they already are?

If they did change it I'd rather it either be
1. Stay spell speed but happen 50% of the time a pet crits. For SMN this might actually help out, and for SCH it would be pretty baller overall
2. Change it from a SS buff to a crit buff. This would make way more sense since it's a proc based on critting with a low happening rate on top of that. So a 20% chance to gain a crit buff when your pet crits. This could be good if we have festers available, and would help SCH as well.

The trait itself is ACN so both SMN and SCH get it.

As a % of a % the proc rate might be too low.

But at the core the problem with it, and selene to some extent(though I guess blms like her), are it gives stats that people don't want. You'd have to fix that or make the bonus massive to make people care about it.

Still the trait isn't exactly top of the list of problems for smn or sch. Although I guess it could be a way to buff ifrit, who procs it more often than garuda since he has auto attacks. Garuda saves you gcds with contagion while ifrit makes your gcd shorter to balance it out. That's a pretty subtle and unimpressive way of going about buffing ifrit though.

This trait is meh for SMN, it really doesn't add much although I'll never turn down free spell speed.

On the other hand, I find it quite undervalued as a SCH. I no longer use Eos because the haste granted by Selene is far more worth it imo than a peanuts AoE heal. In addition, the constant uptime beats out Fey Illumination for usefulness (100% of the time* vs. 5-8% of the time). Assuming Selene is out, Fey Glow + Crit Speed buff means I can lower my cast down to ~2.10. Also, unlike a WHM I don't have to worry about running oom from casting too many Physicks. Heck, I spam Adlo in most content and am totally fine.

As for other job traits...one of the WHM's procs (half cost Cure III) is almost totally useless. Cure III is only used in very specific instances and the chances that you'll nab a proc right beforehand is ludicrously low. Not to mention that no good WHM is spamming Cure II for procs right before the party takes massive unavoidable damage.

As for BLM, I've heard some of them complain that their damage can be too RNG. I would rather not bring that into the SMN/SCH classes.

*okay it's really like 50/50 for yourself, but in terms of the total party, someone is getting buffed at all moments

All I really see the spell speed buff as is an increase to Pet Damage with a slight decrease to Recast Time for SMN.
Probably the biggest effect is for the Melee Pets since they get a Proc chance off AA as well as skills.
Probably fine how it is till we see pet rebalancing.

I don't think that Ifrit's auto attacks proc this, but I could be wrong. It's a great little buff and helps with both SMN and SCH's primary stat focus away from SS.

It helps us get out of aoe faster and helps save mana (strange enough) by casting Ruin more instead of Ruin2. It gives a slight buff to everything ACN does best.

It probably can but Ifrit himself won't benefit from the buff because he doesn't cast any spells. And you shouldn't be using Ifrit in the first place.

Ifrit works better than Garuda on trash mobs in dungeon where contagion is useless (mobs die before my normal dot times are over) and very little movement or target chasing is required. In general I also leave him out for bosses too unless PLD or WAR needs to time stuns. At this point I only use Garuda on Primals + Coil.

Just Rock Buster for Titan and Burning Strike for Ifrit. The best single target for Summoner is probably to have high crit using Ifrit with all the Blunt\Pierce/Slash resistance debuffs up. Too bad speed buffs don't increase AA speed for pets as well.

He's nice in T7 if you're on crowd control duty. Contagion doesn't matter much in a stand-up non-aoe fight without a lot of movement and downtime.

I think the speed buff is no free lunch... but in those crazy boss fights when your healer dies and you are still waiting for swiftcast to recharge because the other DPS died before that, You'll be glad when it's there.
and it does apply to scholars too.

So from your scenario we need the pet to crit. Have a 20% chance of it giving us the speed buff. And be in a situation where you already used your swiftcast and no one else is capable of reviving.

I don't think I have ever been in a situation like that in my entire life.
