How I believe ATMA's farming should have been.

TL;DR version

-{ The Problem }-

- It's too repetitive
- It puts players to sleep no matter how many hours of sleep they got
- Lower level players suffer and can't get experience points because we kill off everything for a CHANCE for an ATMA's. We're not helping them, we're hurting them.
- The drop rate is wayyyyy too RNG. People getting it on the first fate, then changes into getting their second ATMAs 2 weeks later.

-{ The Solution }-

Create fates for each designated ATMAs that require a certain ilvl, obviously a zenith weapon, change the ATMAs grind to class-orientated (pick up as WHM, finish as WHM), these fates should be similar to Odin in the sense that you NEED a huge party. They should spawn every couple of hours, not days. ATMA's of the lion? Huge Lion boss :D! Atma's of the Twins? Two bosses! Atma's of the Scales? A Justice seeking boss! Or Dark/Light bosses.

Farming for atmas is fun, and I'm on my 6th weapon atma farm. Sorry OP, but I disagree with your definition of a 'problem', and even more about your alleged 'solution'.

Being a student with a job limits my time frame, then being pulled away from ATMA's farm by my FC/Raid group denies me more time. And I'm honestly more concerned about lower levels who fate grind to get exp for dungeon access. It took me nearly two hours just to get one good level after i hit 10 because everyone else was finishing the mob fates wayyyy too fast for me. It's not even doing anything to boost the community. No one really cares for ATMA's party, not a lot of them in my server and the one before got filled after so many people spread the "doing it alone gives you a higher chance" theory. I've been stuck on Central Thanalan/Shroud, Eastern Thanalan, and North Shroud for weeks now. I can't even muster up the energy even with a good 8 hour+ sleep to do more than 30 minutes worth of the same fates over and over and over, can't they at least steady it out? I'm not having ANY luck no matter what class I'll come into on the area, I get nothing. Two weeks and on going.

Everyone seems to be complaining that Atma farming is either too easy or too hard. Personally, I find it boring and I agree that lower level players who are just starting the game or working on leveling a new class often get the short end of the stick here. I know it was hard for me when I was leveling up my Black Mage. In my opinion, they should have done the Atma like the Lightning event, where there was a specific fate you had to wait for to pop and successfully finish it to get the drop. SE made this whole atma fate grind because apparently people complained that the relic quest was too easy, but you know what? I found the relic quest a pain in the ass when I did my first class. Having to grind the myth to get a DL piece. Of course people are gonna say that the relic quest is too easy now since there is no cap on the myth, DL pieces now drop in dungeons, and you can now do the Chimera and Hydra fights through the DF.

I agree 100%. Not all of us have the luck and time to get atma at the rate others do. I'd rather wait hours for one specific fate to pop than waste my hours running to every fate that spawns all over the damn map. Sure, people who already got the atma/animus weapon will be pissed over the farming become easier than it was for them. My advice for them is to suck it up and deal with it if they tell non-atma people the same thing. It's a game and I would rather enjoy the game doing things for fun than fall asleep because it bores me to death.

I don't have the time to spare for just a crappy 1% chance. I really don't. I try to save at least 4 hours of my day for that, and it's honestly a waste of time now. I'm not getting any closer to my ATMA's, and i'm giving up. I'm not lucky, and there's nothing I can do. They could have at least thrown us a bone and given us some food buff or stat that boosts item find to help.
And like you said, I'd rather sit on my butt waiting hours for one fate, than to spend hours on multiple fates for nothing. I'm literally falling asleep on my keyboard too.

I agree with Op, the main thing what bothers me is the fact it is very based on Chance, I've know people to get their Animus within like 2 days of farming while others been at it for months and yes I do agree with 50 players trashing lower level fates as I try to level up my PUG but Fates just go within seconds and it's even harder for new players without mounts.

I do like the idea of Big Monster Atma fates that will spawn and requires a big party to defeat, something like a challenge, like Chirema was awesome to fight in Northern Thanalan. Maybe even kill these lower level Fates to spawn this big Fate.

The big monster fates would require a decent amount of players.
I can imagine the counter argument to this is "But once you get your atma's, what about everyone else?"

.2 nearly every character in game has more than one level 50 character with relic weapons. So they're bound to do it again, and again, and again.
.3 what happened to FC's?
.4 this is an MMO by definition this game is not meant for solo players. Massive MULTIPLAYER online.
.5 ATMA's farming shouldn't be something done alone, sure you can argue that you get in a party for ATMA's, but you don't need to. Just take your chocobo out and you're good to go as long as someone can heal.
.6 This leaves the lower level fates safe for new classes/characters to farm off of.

TBH not sure why this is under "Website Feedback and Suggestions"... But while we're here, here is a very VERY easy solution.

For every other PLAYER in your group (not chocobos), that is in the SAME zone (no 1 guy goes out 7 stay home), the chance of you getting an ATMA increases by 1%.

So full group of 8 PLAYERS in the SAME zone, ideally doing the SAME fates... cause, ya know... socialization and cooperation n' stuff... each person now has an 8% drop rate.

Even without a lot of luck, you should be able to knock out at least 15 fates an hour WITH A FULL GROUP, which should get everyone a drop. Maybe 2 hours max if one guy in the group is unlucky.
This brings the ATMA grind down to a somewhat more reasonable 12-24 hours, after taking into account bad rng.

For the relic quest and atma..they should not be reusing content already. Why not have us obtain stuff through faction leves? NM? How about new raids/bosses too?

Most of the time I end up in a party, I still don't get a thing, the only difference is I just get to see other people get it.
I got really sick of being the last person standing in my party and being still stuck in the same zone, so I stopped wasting time trying to put a party together.
So.. it's really hard for me to believe that 1% chance increase, even if it is true, it does nothing to benefit me as far as it's proven through my hours of playing.
Hell, my teammate got double the same atma's, BACK TO BACK. He did one fate, got it, and then did another and got it.
*we were in the same 2-man party, and it went to him, twice.
So even if they stayed behind, the system doesn't recognize who has and hasn't gotten the piece.
