Returning to the game, quick reviews please?

Hi all,

At around easter time, I decided to give this game a small break and allow the development of the game progress a little before returning.

I was wondering if a few of you could possably give your opinions about the game to date please?

More specificly, I am looking for the following info:

->Pros

->Cons

->how much it has changed since easter

-> what has changed since easter

I would be greaful for some feedback on this, and i hope to rejoin the game soon.

pretty much this but if you left @ Easter the game is going to have a completely different feel to it at a first glance.

This link to Lodestone has all the recent updates to Forums, Lodestone, FFXIV. You can look there.

But mostly nothing major just some targeting features. Big changes are on the 21st.

It's basically the same except it feels more like a beta now than an alpha. They added some regular old quests, lowered max party size (but give buffs if you have 4-8 people), lowered behest cooldown to 30 min, added MP regen, some NMs here and there, new targeting mode, etc. The downside is that market wards are basically unusable in Ul'dah since they're always full and that's where everyone shops. Economy is inflated as hell too.

That's basically it for now. I'm sure you can find the info on 1.18 which is in like 3 days.

You're going to get people who say the game is still much much better than it was.

You're going to get people who say the game hasn't changed at all and is still terrible.

Your best bet is to log in and decide for yourself.

Don't return just yet. 1.18 will probably not be as great as we all hope it will be. You'd be better off waiting until 1.21

This, the game is changing that much.

Hi Chime. If you took a break around Easter, coming back today, you will scarcely notice a difference.

But if you hover 'round Lodestone for a bit, wait for the 1.18c, and some of us will have different responses for ya!

I would also second, third, fouth, etc. the suggestion to just wait until after the 1.18 update on Thursday. A LOT of things are going to be happening, such as the introduction of Auto-Attack, which will change your experience by a great deal.

As others said no one can answer this, because the current version of XIV is basically going away starting on thursday. So many changes and additions, including the whole battle system and even the focus of the game itself.

Any review anyone gives you now, would be 100% invalidated on Thursday.

This... and the fact the game's free. Everyone's too dependent on other people's opinion though... why not just play the game yourself and see if you like it? It's this exact reason I don't see FF14 recovering too well in NA, even if game does a complete 180, too many people hold grudges with MMO's that have bad launches in NA and even in UK. This includes gaming journalists as well, and most of those are too ignorant, lazy, or not analytical enough to give proper assessments.

Don't take this personally though... all I'm saying is don't be one of these many people, wait a couple days and then head into FF 14 yourself and see how the game suits YOU^^ Reviews and opinions be damned!

You mean they haven't been paid enough by the publisher to write a glowing review. ^_^

wait till after 1.20 is my recommendation if you ar able to wait it out. i recently re-started (i wanted to wait myself, but couldnt resist temptation and i had no other game to play) and the game is pretty much the same as i left it about one month after release. the only thing you´ll notice tat hav changed is new normal quests an icon, party bonus, faster leveling and perhaps a little bit less lag. lag is still very noticable an a killing faktor.

surplus is annoying as well. you will hit it in one-two days at around rank 19-20 if you do some behests and all your guild leves with many stars. you´ll get by to rank 24-25 but after tat it is so worthlessly slow xping you want to pain yourself.

dont come now.

Agreed, wait till 1.20. If the game will be worth playing that will be the point, if not than just gonna need to move on.

In many cases they haven't been paid enough by anyone. Freelance writing for gaming sites has got to be one of the worst jobs out there... even in this economy. No wonder people put no effort into it.
