CT Part 2 and gear - will it just be i100 at this point?

In the original Crystal Tower, we saw that it was i80. This was originally meant to come become the Binding Coil of Bahamut, and was meant to be the most realistic 'step' into the end-game raid scenario.

So now, we are at 2.3 - and we're coming up on 2.4, which means the second level of Crystal Tower. But now we have a different scenario. Where before we had a 'gap' of gear, with i80 being non-existant; we now have i100 gear (Soldiery) and i110 gear (Soldiery+Oil/Drops) - which leaves little room for gaps.

Does this mean that CT will be dropping i100 gear, proving as a viable 'side-grade' to i100 gear? Or will it drop i95 gear? Will it be similar to current coil - dropping i95 and giving us some way to upgrade the items to i100?

I'm curious how they'll do it. I earnestly kind of hope it isn't a straight i100 drop - it makes me feel like weathered gear, even if it can be upgrade, has less weight for the lock-out it suffers. But even if they do bring it in as i100, I'd still enjoy using it. :3

I feel like 105 would be a bit too strong from CT2. Stronger than weathered gear that can take 2 weeks for a single piece of armor is a bit... well, I'm sure it'd be a bit of a whiplash

That's why I kinda think i95 will be more reasonable, or at best i100.

It will be 95. Just as before, the CT gear will be the ilvl between the unlimited tome gear and the limited tome gear.

Yeah 95 seems reasonable. I just hope it turns out super uber pretty though :p

It's hard to predict because of a few factors. One is the current tome gear is upgradeable to 110. Also, if we assume that the current limited tome gear would be i100, then in 2.1 we had 2 sets of i90 (allagan/mythology), and an i80 (CT). I don't know if they intend to make CT2 as tough as Coil2, but if it's as tough, I can see it being i110, if not I'd say either 100 or 105.

Yoshi has been trying to get people to attempt Coil for a long time (back from Binding Coil), so when CT came in which introduced i80 gear, it severely lessened the gear burden for doing Coil, (compared to those who were attempting it in full Darklight) so that the completion rate would hopefully be higher.

CT2 will have the loot lockout just like before and I don't see the problem with it being i105. Tome gear is able to be upgraded to i110. with the help from CT2 gear ppl will be able to slowly progress (assuming they learn the fights properly) Coil2 and upgrade said gear or get High Allagan.

CT is not hard. Dealing with 23 other people who don't listen is. I feel like its going to be i90 or at best i95. To have gear that is equal to weathered is dumb. It takes 4 weeks of time capping to get solider chest and pants but only 2 weeks to get both in ct?

I also hope that the new tank gear looks like this.

With the major difference being that Weathered can be upgraded, while the possible CT gear will not.
Since coil jumped 20 iLevels it just makes sense for CT to jump 20 iLevels too...

And that's assuming it's left side gear we get from next CT.

Highly doubtful, i90 is so readily available via Coil1 and Myth already that it's ridiculous. A third i90 set (4th if you count crafted) would be a complete waste of time. Also, anyone who has put any effort into their mains is getting pretty close to or better than i95, so I would quesiton the value of i95 too. My money is on i100, with upgrade items for weathered gear being part of the loot pool somehow.

Furthermore, prior to 2.1 not only was lvl 80 the level between the unlimited tome gear and limited tome gear, but it also happen to be a lvl, which only weapons occupied and it made sense that they completed this with the new gear sets in the 2.1 patch. Looking at ilvl 95, again only weapons share this rank and it happens to to also be the level between the limited and unlimited tome gear. I don't see how people can make wild assumptions without something prior to base guesses on. It's pretty clear that the most likely lvl that it will be is 95, BASED ON PRIOR TRENDS that SE had initiated with CT.

The other trend set last time was for CT gear to be 10 levels below the top tier items, which would suggest i100. Which trend are they going to follow? Will they follow the established trends at all? Who knows. We can only speculate, and it's fun. Don't get your knickers in a twist over it.

That's not really a trend... The item levels aren't linearly moving. There are 2 reasons i stated why it will be 95. I'm just letting you know not to get your hopes up because it's not going to be the same level as the restricted tome gear.

i95 or i100 whichever is fine with me. My only wish is that it looks nice.

We'll see, the links we're both drawing are quite tenuous. I'm not worried, I just hope they make the content relevant for the widest range of players possible. Glamour be damned if the rewards are useless, we don't need another empty grind.

It will exactly as relevant as the last set of CT gear. It will be better than gear you can farm, but worse than raid gear and time locked gear.

The wildcard remains that we have a system in place now that isn't 100% like the last set of coil (i100->i110 system)

I almost wouldn't mind seeing i95 being dropped from CT, and maybe a way to upgrade it to i100? Maybe make it something difficult, though, not as easily obtained but farmable for once a week (Maybe even attatched to the new primal)

It depends on how relevant they want coil1 to be. If they still want it to be relevant then it'll be ilevel 90 same as Coil1. If they don't mind it'll be 95. CT is basically your PUG raid. They don't intend for you (yet?) to have 24 man raids so CT will be a PUG raid and will be tuned as this. Coil2 will be you're serious FC raid.

Well actually they stated that the premade alliances was pushed back to 2.3. So maybe just maybe it will happen.

CT2 is supposed to introduce 24 man raids, and it's supposed to be a good challenge. The question is, who's going to bother running 24 man FC or LS groups if the rewards aren't decent?

The current highest crafted gear is ilevel 90. The new CT gear would get an ilevel higher than the highest crafted gear. So it would be ilevel 100 as a minimum, more possible ilevel 105 (10 ilevel lower than coil gear like in 2.1)

It's weathered gear after all. You can upgrade it, CT gear not.

Coil 2 gear is i110. Only the T9 Wep is i115. Just an FYI.

They could probably make it like Levi EX.

CT2 will initially drop i95 gear, but can also drop an item with a low drop rate, which can be used to upgrade the armor to i100. With weekly lockouts of course. The mirror item will ensure that people will keep running the dungeon even after they have gotten their weekly loot, which was a problem back in 2.1 when people would leave right after getting their item.

It will give players a sidegrade next to their weathered gear and also fulfill the "gear at a lower tier than the highest" that CT1 started.

Ilvl 1 glamor armor tbh :P

Besides I'm expecting new Lv100 sets, I'm also hoping for those upgrade items (unidentified tomestone, oils/sands of time) to come from CT2. And they share your weekly drop of course.

And we could use more accessoiries too, but i doubt we'll get any from CT

I think also it will be around 100 - 110 (Probadly 105) Just Because if it is lower than ilvl100 the motivation for ppl that already got everypart of ilvl100 Armor or coil parts will have little to none intress in running it ;)

personally, i can see CT2 being 105 mainly because of the fact that sol gear is upgradeable. granted, this can be a good/bad thing because some people would just ignore buying sol gear if they can get higher for "less" work depending on how hard CT2 is.

thinking about it now, i think CT2 might have a chance to drop UNID Tomes, giving another way for people to get the i100 sol wep. all the stuff to upgrade said weapon will still be in Coil2, but doing it this way will let people have more ways to get an ilvl100 weapon. bad luck with coils, and abysmal mirror drop(not counting atma, because that is a whole other thing) really make some people crazy about things. having that third way may calm some people down, and even help them get further in coil or gear alts with a sol weapon or other slots. if it was this way, i can see the drops being ilvl100 instead of 105.

I think it'll be different to what most people are expecting. Possibly i105 or 110.

Let's be honest...CT was a miserable failure. Cool fights, gear, and concept which suffered a terrible implementation which pretty much everyone could just ignore as they had better gears already. (MMOs have been around long enough for anyone to Google 'How to add a patch' to realize adding an easy, low tier, DF only raid as the major content is a terrible....terrible idea).

Another mirror with a 2,5% loot chance per run like Levi? So that I have to do the instance around 1500-2000 times to upgrade a set? Yeah, that woud work pretty well...... Or maybe not.

the only way to make CT relevan if its drop Sands (randomly in any boss so tanks dont fish for last 1) :rolleyes: , and u can loot once a week....farming CT2 over and over fighting against other ppl for 1 item /popcorn

obviously the drop rate is going to be better than the mirror drop rate. hell, make it drop 30-50% of the time. at this point in gear progression, most either have atma/tidal/weathered weapon. atma being the most common one i am seeing on my server anyway.

Would you mind elaborating into what mechanics people can ignore in CT? If anything, ignoring mechanics IS what gets you killed in CT from my experience.

I don't see what's bad about not making CT high tier content, and I actually wish they don't. I love hard content, but depending on 16-23 DF players to clear it? No thanks. People are still having trouble with the original CT, so much that a bad CT group is what's considered normal and anything better than that is the exception.

I think making CT actually hard would need to give the players the option to PF all 24 members.

I'm not a fan of fights requiring so many people mainly because it feels "loose" and lacks the tightness that smaller person content has. This has to be done because you're playing with 23 other people, so there is naturally a bigger margin for error.I just think that CT is fine as it is (middle ground between 4 person dungeons and EX Primals/Coil).

Let's also remember that CT was originally easy to complete, but it wasn't even meant to be done with Myth gear, as it was intended to be released alongside ARR. I guess we can only wait and see.

CT had some of the best looking gear in the game. All I care about is that CT 2's will look just as good.

105 sounds fine. I wish we would get a new weapon, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
