1 mil max in trades? Please re-evaluate this.

So I just had a friend help me move money from my alt, hadn't done it in a while and it had creeped up to 1.4m ish, come to find out a trade only allows 1m max.

Quite a few items right now are running more than that, so if I wanted, or had the opportunity asked of me, to sell an item directly to them, SE is asking 1 of the 2 parties to have quite a measure of trust right now.

So first trade 1m <-> item worth more, then a 2nd trade giving the rest of the gil? or all gil in several trades then the item given? Plenty of potential for ripoffs there.

I can see there being some kind of limit, SE wants to at least put some effort into fighting gilsellers, but in today's economy, 1 million gil is not where that limit should be.

You can always use the market board, since your friend is with you, they can check it as soon as you put it up. I understand there will be fees involve, but at least you won't have to worry about someone heist you out of any gils over 1m.

I doubt people will be happy paying hundreds of thousands gil in fees for multimillion transactions ... (100k for 2M)

Sorry, but IMHO the system is there to do multi-million gil transactions, the guy just wants to use the back door, instead of via proper means.

The other player is a friend, yet, you are worried about ripped off?!? Guess what, that fee you are paying, IS your security against that.

BTW, company chest is not the solution either, because I know I will not allow other members to take funds out of my FC.

There is a solution, borrowing from EVE-Online, and that is contracts. One put up a contract of desired item/task/quest, and task taker can only claim the reward once the contract requirement is met. This can actually be very beneficial for FCs by giving the FCs ability to allocate tasks to members with proper rewards associated.

No I'm not talking about getting ripped off by friends, or people in my fc.

I'm talking about the ability to do transactions for items worth more than 1m without needing to do it in multiple trades due to the ability to abuse/ripoff a person when doing that.

SE saying 1m is the max that should be allowed in a normal transaction is inadequate; it does not reflect the value possible in a legitimate trade.

What about mail? what is the limit for how much you can attach when sending mail?

Still 1m. This is a real pain when you're operating on commission in the 3-star market.

This limit is to stop hackers from being able to exhaust you of your gil in a single transaction. Say you have 50m and the hacker wants to take every bit of it, they'd be there awhile trading or mailing it to whomever. If they could do that in one transaction, they'd probably have your gil out of your hands before you could even log back in to kick them off. It's not an ordinary occurrence, I'll grant, but it's there for a very legitimate and real reason. A real world bank will not allow you to withdraw over a certain amount of money at a cash point without some kind of security clearance; the reason is if somebody has access to your money they take as much as they can as quickly as they can before they either lose access to your money or get caught taking it. The limit on trades is along the same school of thought, albeit not in quite the same manner as given enough time somebody could rob you of every gil.

Any legitimate trades over 1m are probably very rare considering people use the market boards for the few items worth more than that. If you're worried about being ripped off that much, use the market board.

Does anything that isn't a T9 furniture drop even go for over a million?

Cushion minion, magic broom minion, 3 star items that are penta-melded, and the craft workshop furnitures, off the top of my head. Prices will vary from server to server of course.

I would ask for some of the money up front first before completing the transaction, also if its multiple items, break them up into close to million dollar increments. It so happened one time I lost my connection on a 3 million dollar trade deal. I had some of their money and it looked like I took off without completing the deal lol :D They were waiting of course when I got back, but they need not worry my name carries weight in the market place so there's always that trust factor of recognised characters.

I like that idea of EVE contracts. Sounds like buy orders though. Something that should be put in game as well.

Maybe it's server thing.

But I say, if you're worried about getting ripped off, Market Board has the thugs to ensure your money is clean and legit

Ur an idiot if u get hacked. Plain and simple. Im a 3 star crafter on jenova. There is only 3 of us doing it. So when i sell a piece for 2-3 mil its just a pain. Luckily im known on the server so most ppl that buy directly trust me.
