i100/110 BLM Gear, What's the deal?

I just got done looking at i100/110 gear (weathered/nonweathered gear and coil gear) and I'm wondering what the point beyond these sets are other than typical boost in vitality, int and defenses.

I just looked at the weathered soldiery gear and it's awful. crit goes up by 47, det goes up by 58 yeah that's all nice and dandy but accuracy goes down (which is what you need for coil) and spell speed absolutely plummets.

I've looked at both i110 sets and some pieces have good stats and others will make certain stats drop like a rock. Am i missing something here?

I'm with you here. I gain a massive crit boost from the soldiery gear, but I lose so much accuracy I couldn't do t1. It's so unbalanced. I haven't looked at the high allagan for blm however, maybe it will make up for it.

Supplement the acc with coil gear.

That is when mix and match come into play. You don't want to have a full set of pure Weathered or High Allagant, as is the same with a pure set of Myth Gear vs Allagant Gear, either way they are both awful in the stats. Always mix and match, my friend, always and that is always the rule of thumb, the golden and absolute rule :)

As for me, I always keep my acc above 450 for BLM (455 cap for t6), then browse around and purchase anything that can either increase my acc (so I can drop one of the i90 which has acc stats in it for others piece for more Critical rate and Determination), or increase my Determination and Critical rate while switching other piece around for more acc to make up if I do have other Acc pieces. Because I have all items drop from t1 to t4, so gearing my Blm is a pleasant so far :p

Yeah my acc for blm is not high enough for even T4 atm. Have a few pieces of myth (gloves, shoes) The rest is all ct gear (except the weathered hat)
I suspect all weathered gear you loose accuracy as when i got the chest piece for my Bard i lost about 28 accuracy from when i had myth gear but gained determination.

I have had no problem hitting the acc caps for T6-8, and even currently have enough for T9 if I change the raid food I use. With some high allagan jewelry and the weathered blm weapon (not even upgraded) you should have absolutely no problem hitting the acc cap for T9 unbuffed.

Buy the i90 hq pants and overmeld them. You can make a good pair for under 700k, if your lucky and around 1mil if not. and yeah this game is not designed for a full set to be the best functional.

What IS the accuracy cap? I'm sitting at 458 right now and dont see any gear that will actually improve my aim.

Most MMOs work this way. You itemize your stats around pieces of similar power level with different stats on them.

I found the accuracy/critical hit/spell speed pretty well balanced with this set, determination is a bit low, but not really that badly. And gives you enough accuracy for anything T9 or under.

Hi, the weathered evenstar earrings and ring of casting both have accuracy, compared to the hero's earrings and ring who don't.

For T9 its about 487. (I've just heard this via word of mouth and haven't had a chance to confirm this as my group just downed T8 last night. finally. stupid towers.)

Here's my lodestone, with my blm raid gear currently equiped I'm sitting at 465 acc unbuffed. With HQ Apkallu Omlettes, It goes up to about 476. If I get the i100 weathered weapon (turn 7 drop plus some soldiery tomes) thats another 40 acc, putting me WELL over the cap for T9.

Now granted, I got lucky with some drops in coil, namely my ring and my wrists, but all of my other gear is easily farmable.

I wonder if some of you guys do not even check some of the threads out there that have alot of the data you are looking for.

Best in slot with High Allagan Weapon

Anything that gives you Crit and Spell Speed over determination is better. The only pieces that you are forced to have Determination is the chest piece and the earrings (BiS earrings are T9)

Alternatively, BiS with Saurian Belt

There's been discussion that Saurian Belt of Casting HQ is better than any i110. Technically, the lost of 5 intellect for the gain of so much secondary stats make it better by 1 to 3 DPS depending on your food (Ponzecake or Sachetorte)
1 to 3 DPS gain for investing about 2-3 mils on one belt. I personnally don't think it's worth.

Hit cap is 470 for T9. Your BiS will always be a mix of Sold/High Allagan so yeah, you want to upgrade those 100 armors because stats increase = DPS increase.

Its all good for ya, atleast now you know you can actually drop some acc gear for more spell speed or crit, because you want food up at all times you can even dive lower and make up for it with food. i do intend to get the allagan earrings till our group can down turn 9 and drop the excess acc i do currently have.

I came out of turn 7 today, got my Weathered Laevetein and upgraded my weathered casting ring and was on 515 accuracy. Turn 12-ready, baby!

I removed every piece of acc I could possibly remove and I'm at 473.acc still, laev gives way too much acc

Also, I believe firmly for BLM that a BiS build full if i110's would benefit more from 1 piece being an i90 with piety melds to hit 251 (needs varying by race), than that i90 piece being an i110. The dps boost when you hit 251 piety is said to be 2.5%. That's pretty big. And then on that piece (I chose gloves due to good stats to start, possibly belt would've been a better choice for less int loss) I melded some acc as well.

Ill advice to be honest. Because our bis pants comes from turn 9 i can see investing in the crafted pants but melding crit and spell speed is more beneficial. the 251 piety only works in a perfect enviorment where you will cast your rotation with nothing ever interfering. Because we should be casting at all times, we may have to move and use scathe occasionally. this alone ruins the rotation of a 251 piety build causing you to improvise. which you should do regardless of your piety. If you need to cast thunder 1 instead you do so. There is no huge dps increase from using thunder 2 over1 just more convinience. Due to the fact we do have to move you just make sure you have enough mana to do the following.
If 398+ mana, Bliz 3, then thunder 2. (or just 400+ if you cannot compute fast enough
If 291 to 397 mana, Bliz 3, thunder 1. (300 to 400 to be safe)
if 290 mana to 185 mana, Bliz 3, bliz one then thunder 2. (290 to 190 to be safe)
if less than 184 mana, use any ether or take your chances on casting bliz3 waiting for mana to tick which is what you want to avoid then cast thunder 2, best save ethers if you ever bump this low.
Adapting to what you got > striving to get 251 mana and losing potential dps for convenience. You are better just getting a phantasia and going dunefolk lalafell if 251 is your goal then no gear will hold you back in groups with a scholar but that should not be something you should do. Point is we can be whatever and still preform our dps to the best of our skill. we cannot just sit back and follow our rotation to the core because if you do, you are potentially crippling your dps.
