How can I combat this type of harassment?

I am grouped with a Paladin that is not responding to any communication --- period. He is standing in the middle of Castrum Meridianum and isn't doing anything. 3 people have vote kicked him, and he just REJOINS US IMMEDIATELY using the join in progress option.

While Castrum Meridium isnt THAT hard, he is abusing us/the game and we can do nothing about it. Why is this acceptable?

>_< Ugh, this happened to me with a WHM in Brayflox too. Kept kicking him and he'd just keep coming back with In Progress. Kicked people should get a penalty before they can use DF again, really.

Wow. Didn't think about that. Maybe something as simple as a kicked person not being able to rejoin the instance they were kicked from will fix it.

Would increase level of abuse and make it more of a pain for those kicked for the wrong reasons (watching CSs when first time for example) then having a lock out timer? Salt in the wound.

Sounds like you are trying to harass a 1st-timer tank trying to watch cutscenes. They need to disable vote kick when people are watching cutscenes, just like you can't bring it during combat.

Perhaps he's standing around doing nothing...oh I don't know...outside of a cutscene hoping for a free myth ride?

No, this is about a tank idling in the dungeon, just leeching for free myths (go afk, let others do the dirty work for you). This is why we got vote kick in the first place, leeching was extremely common before it. This is also why SE can't remove vote kick, if they do, leeching becomes a standard practice again and people beg SE to put the vote kick back in.

You know I havent ever actually come across a group who has kicked someone for watching cs's (ran ahead or told them to hurry up/skip them, sure, but never kick), but I remember all too well those few months before vote kick was introduced, so I agree with this.

Trying to get tomes early on was such a colossal headache because you'd have people, particularly tanks and healers, afking and just letting people do it. Sometimes they werent afk though, sometimes they just refused to do anything and gloated about how there was nothing anyone could do about it. I definitely don't want to go back to dealing with that.

I'll be honest with you, in my experience i never came across a group that would kick someone just because they are watching cutscenes, most of the times they are just left behind or in some very rare cases they wait for them.

But if they aren't in a cutscene and are just afk far too long without warning the group then i would just start a vote kick, a quick "brb" doesn't take more than 2 seconds to type. There's a couple of people that tries to get a free myth ride in the main scenario roulette without doing literally nothing, some are even ninja and put /follow in the healer and only comes back in the last boss to exit the dungeon, yep i've seen that.

You must not have been around for 2.0 when this really was commonplace. Votekick didn't exist back then so tanks would queue into CM and afk and there would be absolutely nothing you could do but report and leave. Why do you think people cried for votekick in the first place?

I'd ask the leader to stop Replenishing Ranks. It means you're down a tank, and there's less myth tomes granted, but...

I didn't get started until March, so no I was not around. But I am not against the vote kick option, and I am not asking that vote kick be changed from what it is now. I am just against vote kick abuse from the players. Vote kicking a 1st-timer watching cutscenes is obvious abuse. Vote kicking lesser-geared(a.k.a. undergeared depending on perspective) is also vote kick abuse. People should be able to join back from join in progress, although it is not clear why they would want to join back with the jerks, but some have thicker skin than others and they should be able to stand their ground.

Only seen this happen once recently,and was ifrit story mode. I queue as healer, two DPS were fantastic, but tank said "thanks for the win /afk" assumed they were joking, but sadly they weren't, had to wait to kick them, and everytime we did they came right back, ended up three manning it which was not easy and agro all over the place, when ifrit died the tank said "thanks now I can do more story quests" and left.. If only their was an eject from the game button, I would of used it on them

I'd just leave the group and find another one.

And what the OP is describing is not first timers watching cutscenes or being undergeared. It's very plainly leeching because the tank keeps returning and doing the same thing. I don't know about you, but if a group kicked me, I wouldn't want to rejoin that same group 3 times - unless, of course, I was there for the free myth ride because I know the group can't do anything about it.

Where in earth did you get that the person in question was simply watching cut scenes from the OP??

If you are going to tell someone they are "deliberately misinterpreting" something you better have something more concrete to back you up other than your own possible misinterpretation. If anything, based on what the OP says, it is more likely to infer what others are saying (about leeching) than to assume they were watching a cut scene (since the party can clearly see when someone is in one and there is zero mention of it in the OP).

As for the issue, yes simply adding something that prevents a person kicked from a party to rejoin that party would be the best solution.

I'll prefer to disable vote kick if the dungeon validates that this person is doing that content for the first time. There're people that would just stuck in a cs dialog for the sake of trolling, knowing that they won't be kicked.

OP: You can send your request to a GM, they'll evaluate if that user deserves a punishment or a small talk, based on that event.

They aren't talking about people watching cutscenes. It shows it in the party list if the person is in a cutscene so you know if that's what they are doing. Also, they wouldn't keep re-queuing to go afk again over and over again and just stand there since the cutscene wouldn't play again.

there is one way you could've stopped him. you couldve selected to not replace the player right away. kill some trash mobs without a tnk for a bit while he gets put into a different group. then after about 5-15 mins, open it up to replace him

No Eject button, but a Screen Shot and report option (which is available). Be it Tank/Healer/DPS, bad behavior comes from the one behind the screen, and must stop.

The person wants to be lazy, not doing anything? Let SE give him a few ban days. He can't complain, he will not be doing anything, so nothing's changed from his perspective.

*and about CS: I am part of those who likes to enjoy the first time, when I do the story. So when I come across someone who says 'first time' I take my time so he'll enjoy. problem arise when the 6 others are.. [name it] and skip and still proceed. sigh

once you vote kick someone you can leave penalty free, just requeue.

Report him is the only way.

They need Fix the Penalties for.

1.- If you get kicked from a group. You cant Rejoin this group, the group goes unavaliable for you.

2.- If you get kicked in less 60 mins of two different groups you get a 30 mins Penatly.

3.- If you withdraw during the Ready Check for start a dungeon, you get a 30 mins penalty.

For protect to the legit players, who whitdraw because afk. Your window will start Beat and a sound will be played during 90 secs, leaving you know the duty is ready.

4.- If one person report you for harrasment in DF/Pf and a GM prove you did the harrasment.

You get a 300 Mins Penalty
recidivism 24 hours penalty. No access to the Forums and game as well
Third offense 7 Days penalty
Four offense 30 days penalty
Five offense. SE will discuss if you get perma banned or No.

Total agree, I've stopped running CT now purely for that reason, had one last week where both tanks went afk.. In same party I might add lol.

I have never come across this problem, I hope I never do, but I feel sorry for those that do come across any player like this. Parties can manage when a DPS does this, not so much when a healer or tank does it.

But, geez, should I ever step foot into DF as tank or healer I can 100% guarantee that I would never do that to any party I'm in. It's very possible that I wouldn't be very good at tanking or healing, especially since I'd be learning the ropes, but I wouldn't stand there and do nothing at all!

I don't understand how kicked people are still able to re-join parties they were just kicked from. That should not be happening.

I'm not talking about a global ban period, just, not rejoining the same team, until the end.

Currently in a Titan Heroic mode. One of the healers decided to grief by wearing a ghost costume. The rest of the party leave and then I'm left having to wait for the vote abandon timer. The player base is toxic in this game.

It's common with any current MMO that gains any level of popularity and doesn't have [and/or is unable to enforce] strict penalties for harassment/foul play.
