In this thread we'd like you to specifically pose questions regarding the upcoming addition of Item Desynthesis. In addition to collecting your questions in real-time via Twitter, we will also use this thread to gather your questions ahead of time and answer them during the event.

I'm really pleased that this system is being implemented!

Will it be similar to XI, with a shard being consumed to turn weapons and armour into a base material, or will there be a super-fun mini-game to desynth each item?

Will any piece of gear, including dungeon drops and GC items, be desynthesisable, or will there just be specific items selected from a Desynthesis section in the crafting log?

Will there be only a single possible result from a given desynthesis, or will there be a random factor as to what items, or quantity of items, are received from a set list?

Will crafting statistics affect desynthesis and will there be desynthesis abilities, or will it be more similar to melding in that respect?

will we be able to crack clusters into crystals and crystals into shards?

Will Desynthesis work on gear like Darklight?

How does desynthesis differ from materia convert, and how will you balance whether a player chooses to convert or desynthesise based on time spent soulbinding.

Will desynth have a specific set of factors/conditions governing which items we're able to break down, such as <crafted gear only> or <unbound items only>, or <green items only>, similar to how only specific pieces of gear can be turned in for Expert Delivery at the GCs?

Is it planned to affect only equippable gear, or any synthesized item - such as housing items, fishing lures, or even crafted crafting materials like, for example, Undyed Felt?

Finally, will there be any sort of catalyst fuel cost associated with the desynth process?
Similar to how glamours require purchase of the blank prisms from the NPC in Mor Dhona, or how crafting requires shards.

in 11 an hq desynth resulted in better materials, or more materials obtained. If we get an hq deysnth will the items we receive be hq, or increase the amount received?

Will Spiritbonding affect the quality of materials gathered through desynthesis?

When breaking an item down, are all components guaranteed returned that would be used in the original crafting of said item, including rare components (Materia for instance)?

How do you expect this to impact the economy, when materials are already over-abundant?

What will be the level requirement to do this?

Will you be adding more master craft recipes, specifically recipes for i90 weapons and accessories? Crafting jobs like blacksmith, woodworking, and goldsmith have very few master recipes added in the last patch.

IMO Transmutation was very poorly implemented, will Desynthesis be better? Or will Transmutation be improved?

E.g. letting us transmute ourselves, letting us transmute multiple sets at a time, or having transmute not be utterly random but in-line with whatever material you were transmutating.

Will there be an exclusive reason to desynthesize? E.g. rare materials only found through desynthesis.

Will it be something controllable to successfully do or will it be a high-risk success like it was in FFXI and with Adv Melding in FFXIV?

The level 90 gear that is currently able to be synthed is nice but in my opinion not worth using 500 or 1000 myth tomes to make.

I am excited to hear about additions to crafting, but are you adding new recipes that really make it worth the effort to desynth other items?

What is the purpose of implementing Desynth into the game now? Is it a means to allow players to regain "rare mats" lost from NQing a synth they are trying to HQ.

Are we going to need to be a specific craft level in order to desynth, or can any class/job desynth?

Will desynthesis be Alchemy specific in order to give Alchemists a place among crafters? Also will I be able to turn useless fish into crystals and shards again like in 1.0?

Will we be able to Desynthesis the aetheryte versions of items and the darklight/hero items or at least some of them.

will desynthesis work on anything crafted such as furnishings,minions,food items or only gear?

Will the rate of desynthesis be as bad as FFXI?

What restrictions will there be on the items that can de-synthesized, if any?(such as 0%-100% spirit bond, materia, or dungeon vs crafted gear)

Will this feature be available at earlier levels for the DoH (or DoL) classes, or is this a skill that requires master crafting books to preform?

Will we be able to desynth non-crafted items (i.e. dungeon drops) that may contain exclusive material to be used for crafting?

will we be able to de-synthesize fish (mainly a lot are useless) into shards/crystals!? :cool:

Will you add new recipes that use unique materials obtained through desynth process? Any tips what are those recipes?

Will Desynthesis provide any benefits over gathering the materials by hand? Not including getting materials from junk items.
