Revenge of the Newb: Dungeon Crawl Help

Hello everyone,

This time I'm here on a sour note. :(

Since reaching Stone Vigil I've hit an impasse with leveling my toon and getting through the main story. I've only managed one run of Stone Vigil. Every other attempt at a run has had the tank leave upon entry. Immediately upon entry, leaving the rest of us stranded. That means that when I play DPS, I have to wait sometimes an hour and a half, then get bailed on by a tank for reasons unknown, and wait again in the hope of another filler tank.

Reasons for their leaving, other players and I have guessed, is that they probably saw lower level toons and gear and bailed, or that they got the prompt about one or more party members' first time and left, or that they were trolling, queuing up and leaving immediately.

This is happening over and over again. I haven't been able to get through Garuda, I need to do Darkhold but haven't gotten the chance, and using Stone Vigil to level to 48 / 49 just isn't happening because outside of that one run I haven't been able to get a tank to commit.

So what I'm asking is, is there any recourse for players who've been scorned by these, frankly, butt-headed, selfish, tanks?

If you're already level 47 you can probably just go to Aurum Vale. It unlocks from Nedrick Ironheart in Vesper bay. It's minimum level 47 and people usually farm the first room for XP and it's going to be your best source of XP until 50 most likely. Check the party finder for that and for darkhold, Bard is useful for farming XP in both situations but keep in mind these will likely not aim for dungeon clears so make sure to read the Party Finder summary beforehand. You can also use the Party Finder yourself to build your own party.

I don't think what they're doing is counted as harassment so I don't think you can report them for simply leaving.

In my experience tanks and at times other classes will outright leave a dungeon because they want a quick run. In a sense, they're being lazy.
Sometimes, the tank is trying to join a run in progress because a friend of them asked to but since the DF is random they may leave your group to find their friends.
I'm not really trying to excuse the people in question. I think people should just stick with whatever the DF gives them ... but on the bright side OP, at least these people just leave the run. The other option would be them harassing you and other players for <insert irrelevant reason here>.

Personally, I recommend using your FC or PF to build a pt for leveling or for clearing a dungeon. It's a bit tedious to do so but imo it's worth it. I hardly ever DF things because I seem to run into jerks or trolls left and right. Mind you, others have had the opposite experience of me.

I wish the situation for DF was different. The game tells players to go to DF for their clears so when people leave upon entering certain dungeons it is really problematic.
I'm sorry that you've run into so many people who bail on you.

It's like a Virus that has spread. Too many people are in a rush and plain selfish. As soon as they see it is one of the more "difficult" dungeons, they leave. Seeing that the rest of the group is actually on the level on the quest makes them leave either. Too many players trying to get the best for themselves not caring about waiting time for others.

And it is not only happening on dungeons below Level 50. Try do make Pharos Sirius, Copperbell HM or Ampador HM. You need several attempts (and as DD several hours waiting time) to find a group that runs these dungeons. Why? I don't know. Even full ilevel 90 groups fall apart. Might be the vague chance of wiping or that some dungeons take longer than the others..dunno. Sometimes I ask myself what people play these days. Sastasha below 50 and Brayfloy HM when they are 50? And that's it? Roulette is called Roulette because you do not know what will come up. If you do Roulette, do it, whatever comes up. If you only do special dungeons, register separately for them. But no, your bonus and getting it ASAP counts more than anything else, right?

From Thursday on you have to fear that if you do Brayflox HM through DF that somebody in the group (*cough* Tank *cough*) will just leave after the 2nd boss because they are already on their Strat cap. That's a very anti-social behaviour. Just because they are too lazy to check Group finder or wait a few minutes. No, registering and then bailing on the other people not caring that their run is over and they have to wait again. Because the player leaving the group couldn't be arsed to spend 5 minutes more. This community indeed has some special snow flakes.

Have had this happen many times to myself as well. Both healers and tanks. And not just for the higher level/longer dungeons but easy ones too such as copperbell (normal). :(

I would say that it wasn't because of your level/gear... but the actual player being lazy/didn't like what duty roulette gave them and decided to bail. Unfortunately leaving the rest of the party high & dry.

My suggestion would be to make a PF group or ask your FC and linkshell for people with the same goal as you. A positive outcome from this is possibly making friends to do future content together with ^^

I never really thought it was about the gear, or my gear in particular. Afterall, half of it is i50 due to having finish the 45 Bard quest. It was more that a person might gauge a player's skill based on what equipment they were wearing. I did at the time object to the idea though. One of the party members who suggested it was decked out in Serpent Sergeant gear, which I was too during my first and only run through SV.

As far as the favor of speed runs, or of wanting to play with friends, that mentality strikes me as counter-intuitive given that you get a 30 minute penalty cooldown if you leave. And let's say you wait that 30, it's still going to take you 10 - 20 minutes to finish whatever you actually wanted to do. Most dungeons can be cleared well and truly within 50 minutes. :S

It's a shame there is no way to penalise players who do this. But oh well, I guess. I'm a bit surprised there isn't a minimum wait time of 15 minutes to leave, as there is with vote to abandon.

Players actually do get penalized for leaving a dungeon without voting to abandon, being in a full pre-formed party, or being vote kicked. They have to wait 30 minutes to queue in Duty Finder for *anything*. Some players are doing their daily roulettes and don't want to run certain content, but in my opinion, it would be faster to just run the dungeon than to quit and get yourself locked out for 30 minutes simply to queue again (and possibly get the exact same dungeon.)

I don't understand leaving because you don't want to run certain content. These people are Level 50s, the stuff should be basically a breeze for them. Heck, I got Stone Vigil on Roulette once and I'm USELESS in the final boss fight because I'm colorblind and can't see the final boss's dive AoEs. That said, I told the party, they said it'd be cool and we ran it regardless, and it was a totally smooth run aside from one wipe during the second boss.

Did it take a while? Yeah. Did I care? No. Because I don't queue for Duty Finder Roulettes unless I know I have the time to spend at least 90 minutes in them.

Iirc, if they leave while others are still watching the opening cutscene they don't get a penalty. This situation I've seen most often lately.

It is too bad you're not on my server OP - I'd tank it for you gladly. I think most tanks leave SV if they get it on roulette because that dungeon takes awhile to do, and a few of the boss fights can be wipes if with new players. I've had a few runs where it almost took the full time allowed for the run, so these tanks might be thinking even if they get a 30 min penalty (which they won't if leaving during CS as noted above), it is better than potentially wasting 90 mins and failing the run. However, while I understand this view, I don't approve of it. Roulette is roulette..if they wanted to avoid certain dungeons then use PF. Who does low level roulette for farming tomes anyways when Brayfox is so much faster and easier if all you want is quick myth and speed runs?

Personally, I stick to whatever I'm given when I use roulette as a tank -- I leveled bard to 50 first and so know the pain of the dps queue and also how frustrating it was to have the tank leaving as soon as I was so happy to finally get in. I hope you can complete it soon -- good luck!!

Many people does actually (myself including). First - I prefer "variety" of the DR to "monotony" of re-runing endlessly the same (part of) dungeon again and again. Secondly - not every lvl50 player (maybe with secondary class / job) is really fully equipped to do so comfortably and prefer to run low level dungeons instead for real ease to get the tomes.

Ah- I do the exact same! I forgot to add the word "farming' in there :) I meant who would use roulette for farming tomes ^^

A lot of people who are colour blind have this same gripe (though they have a gripe with the AOE colours regardless most of the time). It's really a bit stupid that SE haven't considered that. But outside of colour-blindness? As a person who has taken tests and had a high indicator of colour detection, even I have difficulty. The multiple ice AOEs + the dragon AOE is ridiculous and very difficult to see. I thought people were talking it up, but when I got there I was amazed at how it's almost impossible to detect the AOE against the ice-white.

It's strange. My first and only run in SV was finished in under 30 minutes. I kid you not. We did skip some rooms, but they were trash rooms, and really we all just wanted to get through it. I actually commented to my healer that it was one of the smoother, shorter dungeons, despite my death at the last boss. Aforementioned blue/white on white AOEs took me by surprise at the last hurdle.
