XIV has an amazing OST, I agree. I plan on getting the full soundtrack soon.
I think my favorite song in the entire game is the one from the Ultima Weapon elevator fight.
I do love the music in this game. I am actually shocked when some people say they can't stand it, but I guess they are entitled to that opinion.
i still thibk this games soundtrack is garbage compred to FFXI. my opinion of it might be higher if FFXI didnt exist.
I have the soundtracks of XI and XIV and I have to say they both stand on their own rather nicely and fit their respective games well. XI's soundtrack has a somber, relaxed feel but then the game is also somber and relaxed. XIV's is more lively to fit a more lively game. I really can't call one better than the other because that would suggest I like one less, and like them both! Best money I ever spent, would buy again!
Love the OST, ..and glad it's closer to FFXII's OST than FFXIII's...
the OST of FFXIV not only s great, it also fits into the settings very well..
the only downpart is during the beginning, when you're often in the same area(s), then the OST can start to repeat it's self a bit too much.... otherwise later on and you if you varie a bit between areas, it's like a Fantasy Opera with a magnificent stage.. (beatifull OST with wonderfull and fluid landscapes...)...
only a hand full of games achieved this feeling with during the last years..., the last time was with Skyrim (& Xenoblade)..
(EDIT: I didn't play FFXI...)
It's pretty good (I have both albums), but I think XI's soundtrack is even better. FFXIV's soundtrack would probably gain, if I had more memorable moments associated with certain tracks, but while I enjoy the game, I'm certainly not as involved as I was a decade ago.
I remember my first Titan fight (story mode) and the music there, probably because its change in pace and style. Kind like the Royal Ripeness flan in FXIII-2. From the regional tracks, I think Thanalan and Coerthas are most memorable.
Love the OST. I only wish they'd go back and change some of the older dungeons to loop the dungeon music, like in the new Hardmodes, instead of cutting out to silence and playing the generic battle theme. I mean, the battle theme is nice, but...Pharos has the best intro ever and it only lasts all of 1 minute, usually just long enough for the Tank and Healer to drop from the party.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WAcS-1H3BM still my favourite FF track and always will be. XIV's soundtrack is good but I often put my own music on instead or feel like watching something else while playing and I'm not sure why. I could listen to a lot of XI's tracks over and over and did for years! I guess XI's soundtrack being more relaxing just makes it easier to listen to for hours on end
I love the soundtrack. I have purchased Before Meteor and A Realm Reborn OSTs, just to support the amazing artists.
I'd like to clarify that although the TC said that the soundtrack was 463 HOURS, it's not. It sits around 470 MINUTES.
I like the old Gridania theme, so mellow.
Honestly while the ARR soundtrack is decent I have to say 1.0 just had more interesting/memorable music. Perhaps it was simply because of the memories but when I first heard the chorus of "Answers" during the Limsa boat cutscene during the alpha opening as the sea horror jumps the ship, to entering the good king Moogle mog fight to the first time twilight over thanalan played it just seemed far more memorable. While some tracks have found their way into 2.0 I would still count them as 1.0 music as that's where they are from. I look forward to seeing where the music to this game goes though as like I said it isn't bad.
As for ffxi music I have to agree I prefer it by far over both 1.0 and ARR. Zi'tah, Selbina, gustaberg, like all the CoP music, it just had a lot more draw for me personally.
It has a great soundtrack.
Now if only we could turn off that bloody combat music and enjoy it some more. Espcially in places like Pharos.
I've been looking, but haven't been able to find a setting for this:
Is there a way to turn off the mount-themed music so you can hear the actual land-themed music? Especially running fates for atma, the only music I hear is fate and mount themes. Does this setting exist?
I think the setting for turning off mounted music is in the system settings.
Titan's track after heart phase always gets my heart beating. So nervous.
The power of music man.
But I'd have to say Omega Weapon's battle music is my favorite (not sure if they're different in story mode/hard more but if they are then it's the hard mode song that I'm referring to).
Always been a fan of the Final Fantasy series AND their soundtracks. XIV as well! ^_^
Thanks Gilraen and Moheeheeko. I'll check it tonight. Yay!
