Impossible to complete books solo?

I didn't mind collecting atma from fates, getting 1500 myth per book. I have got to my 6th book and have the (Four Winds Fate) This is impossible to do solo, you have to kill 4 of them, north, south, east and west. It took me 6 mins to down one, went to the second one and got about 1/4 of his life down and he kept getting stoneskin which takes ages to break. It's impossible to do it in the amount of time you have.

This has ruined the game for me now, I did shout for help but nobody came. It's impossible for me to get a huge group and to get them to wait a few hours for the fate to pop. I just wish I knew about this before I started the atma. This has really put me off the game.

I had problems with "Four Winds Fate" too. You need 2-3 people to complete it. I just check that it's up once and awhile, and there's bound to be other people doing it. I almost resorted in calling my FC for help.

You could always camp it by yourself and then request help from people in an LS/FC. Ideally, let them know beforehand that you need help (so that they'd be aware and willing to help) and that you'll say when it pops. Some of these things that are required of players to do are very unbalanced for some servers/players, but for the time being, that's what you have to do. You may need to pay for help too if anything, but none of this is unusual if you're used to group required content in MMORPGs.

Though to be fair, I'm not sure if this one thing is worth quitting a game over. Just try the Fate again at a better time maybe?

Yet I recall barely a few weeks back the multitudes weeping for more solo content.

As for the OP's concerns, you could always request others to help you with the FATE's/Dungeons/Leves that what some people have done, sometimes even a duo with Chocobos is more than enough.

If you participate in it, fail it, and then wait for it to respawn, it'll be nerfed so that you can solo it. By that time someone else is bound to come running in also needing to do that FATE

Shouting for Help is one thing, but over the course of leveling from 1-50, gearing out for end-game, one would assume he would have made friends, joined a FC, or several LS's. Maybe if he did ask, and no one came to help, maybe everyone was busy, or the OP isnt a very helpful guy, thus no one wants to help him. Bottom line we dont know. but it sounds like he tried the FATE once, while shouting in zone for help, no one came to his aid, he failed, and now he wants to quit. One will not get very far in life if one quits after one failure.

Four winds can not be soloed, there are many forum threads on this fact. However 2 people with really good chocos/gear or 3 people + chocos can kill it. To say the game is ruined in an mmo, esp as your approaching the end of your book, and almost done with books completely is just sad. I did 4 winds while speed running brayflox about every 2 runs(14minish) the fate would be up. the longest I went without seeing it was 40min. tons of people are out there and will usually come if you shout. I also understand that its so far out there its hard for people to actually get out there. Now the fates that take over 4hours to spawn even up to 8 hours those are more ridiculous then a fate that you can't solo but can duo.

Some of those FATEs are very annoying and far from balanced. I'm not familiar with this one in particular, but it must be one of the worst if you can't solo it on BLM (assuming that's your main -- going from the forum profile). If it's notoriously bad it might help to set up a party finder to attract anyone else who needs that FATE to progress as well. I don't know what other advice might be useful. I always just sit and wait. Luckily I haven't had to try to solo anything difficult since I'm working on MNK weapon and they're absolutely terrible solo.

Don't give up! I was really bummed when I got the FATE too and failed it the first time, but I did have a lot of nice strangers who suddenly just flocked to the FATE and helped on my 2nd try lol.

But in terms of the FATE, I'm on my 8th book and so far it's only Four Winds that's kind of a non-solo friendly FATE, the rest I don't have trouble with.

Is that how it is? If so, that would explain why I get destroyed by certain boss-type FATEs that I was easily able to solo at times but not others.

Yeah, it was added in at 2.1

If a mob kills a FATE, that FATE will be buffed the next time it respawns
If the FATE is failed, it will be nerfed the next time it respawns
That would've worked in 2.0 when everyone was farming FATES, now it's a bit of a nuisance

Alot of console gamers pick up FFXIV expecting it to be a Single Player RPG with MMO aspects, it is not.

Have you tried as Summoner with Titan-egi & a choco? I've helped a fellow FC member & it didn't seem impossible.

I find the game is designed for console single players to easily get into. With duty finder you can get very far in the game and not speak a word to anyone. It's only end game content where communication becomes important. Most fates scale down to be solo-able, however this fate does not probably because there is 4 elite mobs to kill. Players who are used to single player games will be frustrated by this, traditional MMO players will just call a friend.

So I partially disagree with you, however I wish the game was designed where more communication is required at a earlier stage in the game because it will be required for endgame.

Out of all the FATE's of the 12 Books, "The Four Winds" is the 1 and only FATE which I could not do Solo, even if it was just a single boss I still wouldn't be able to do it, they just hit so hard and have quite a substantial amount of health so you'll need at least 2 other people (1 being a healer) to help you out.

Surely you have a couple of geared FC members to come help out at short notice when the FATE pops?

Four winds is nothing. Go do Pharos sirius's as range dps.. Go leave a pf up for four winds and you're bound to get at least one person sending u a tell

Pharos was easy even before patch... did it every every way possible.

Tank + BRD + 2 leveled Chocobo....

I did it for a fate I couldn't do solo, and a guy joined and helped me out, waited for the fate with me for like 2 hours and he didn't even need to do it.
There are some awesome ppl out there who might help out!

I got it!! It cost me 100k but I don't mind.

I'm on my seventh book and have done 90% of the fates solo, although as a PLD you can stay alive against a NM fate but you may time out before killing it due to low dips. What I have done (especially for four winds fate) is when the fate pops I just shout "atma book fate please assist <pos>" and every single time others have shown up to help. Contrary to what some think about the in game community there are many people out there willing to help. I would encourage you to shout for help when needed, I'm sure several people will chip in and help. Best of luck to you.

The four winds was really annoying, but I got a fc friend to help out, and a random level 40 came to aid, in what she could, and we down it with like 20 seconds to spare! It felt reply good getting it out of the way, and I'm so thankful for that random level 40 person showing up, the damage she put up was the difference in the fight to win. Of course, I had to make some clutch stuns on the stoneskin mage too.

I hated the four winds fate. Luckily I found a party who was waiting for it to spawn so I joined them. I always join in on that fate if im in the area and if someone is actually doing it. Another fate that is near or almost impossible is the "Schism" fate in outer la noscea. As a tank I had to destroy 6 boxes and a boss while dealing with adds. I would have lost if a lvl 45 monk hadn't come by to help.

Four Winds is about the only Fate that can't be soloed in the game (well, there are a few others to be fair, but so far none of those have come up for book fates). I had to do it for my last book. Solution, ask around in my linkshells for help and shout chat too. Ended up getting about 4-5 other people coming to help and got it done. It pays to have friends.

Four Winds is a Fate i can't understand, even if i did it as Monk and stoneskin from bosses was not an issue (first time i had to use One Lim punch xD). Even if all others fates you can do them solo, this fate needs around 3-4 players to beat it, and sometimes really close to the 0:00 timer...

Other thing i can't understand is... i think there is one fate from coerthas which has a 30 minutes timer... why Four Winds is 15 minutes then?

the 30 min one is prolly the "big boss/minion", all fates in all zones are 15 min except the minion ones

I had the same issue with "In Spite Of It" as a tank simply due to the level cap which meant I would run out of time trying to manage the boss and adds. Thankfully I did a dungeon and people were there the next time it popped.

I completely agree with you. I shouted for some assistance with a few fates and have always received help. There are some great people playing this game. Unfortunately we seem to remember the vocal minority.

I just made a party finder group for it. It took all of 17 seconds to set it up. Filled in with a few people within a few mins, we all went out to wait for the fate to pop, a few more joined, fate popped, think we had 7 when it did, and steamrolled it. Just put that you're doing a specific Fate for a book, and that you're going to stand around waiting until it pops and you finish it. Barring that, try in prime time when there's more people online to hear your shouts for help, grab some FC/LS members. Also, about the difficulty scaling, if you fail it solo the first time, and manage to get a friend or two the second time, it should be easy enough for 2 or 3 to finish the second time around. If at first you don't succeed, yada, yada, yada. There are many ways to get things done. You just have to go out and find them sometimes.

The Taste of Fear This one gave me a lot of problems on WAR book 7/Speed +2. I've had no problems wittling away the hp of any boss fate until I got this one. I chewed on it for 8 minutes, and its a 15 min fate. I got it to around 60% at that point, and was starting to run low on TP. I also had a lv 7 whm choco with me. I started seeing if any FC/LS people was available. Some said they could come, but right at that moment a monk and his choco showed up, and it went down pretty quick. There is a possibility this fate was buffed from a steam roller that came through before me, but idk. It's the only boss fate that I felt I couldn't do, besides four winds obviously. Maybe instead of making the fates easier, SE could just make the timer extend, if someone is actually attempting to complete the fate. Obviously they would have to create some pretty elaborate code for that, sense you don't want a fate stuck just because someone happened to run through it.

Also I have noticed, that some fates, when you fail them, will repop a few minutes later. Is there any info on how this system works? It happened to me on the fate, Air Supply. It popped, I was distracted, and tried to beat it in 5 mins and I failed. I went to do something else, and not 3 mins later I heard the fate jingle in another room and was like O_O ummm. So I assumed maybe there was a reset process for failed fates. However my fiancee was late to the fate Make It Rain. Got Gold, failed, and it still took over a hour for it to pop. So I don't know what to think.

you need to run dungeons so... no, you cannot complete the books solo. it is impossible.
